This is seriously always a pet peeve of mine and it's amazing how often people use it. Because I'm getting tattooed and working my way down one of my arms right now, my girlfriend always tell people I'm working on a sleeve, and it always makes me cringe just a little because it gives people the wrong idea. Because really, I'm just getting a bunch of tattoos on one arm until it's close to full then getting some filler afterwards, and it will be a long time before I'm done, so saying I'm working on a sleeve kind of seems silly.

Sleeve is just one of those general terms people pick up on and use the shit out of. Everyone has their own interpretation of it. I get asked that all the time, "are you going for a sleeve?". My forearms are closer to being fully covered than my upper arms.. not exactly thrilled at having the inside of the upper arm inked though.

It's not that bad. The inside of mine took 2.5 hours, but I never felt like I needed a break.

As for the thread:

I've seen people debate whether a sleeve is truly a sleeve (regardless of length). What I mean is, a sleeve isn't a sleeve unless every inch of skin is covered in ink. So having a ton of tattoos on your arms that have space in between, is still not a sleeve, just a bunch of tattoos. To me, if you're covered your covered and "sleeves" don't need to be cohesive or have a central theme as long as the tattoos are done well.

LOL! I just had this argument the other night with a neighbour who thinks that if I have all three of my kids names tattooed on my arm, it's going to be a sleeve. He knows nothing lol!!

When one gets to the point of having a full "Sleeve" or a whole "body suit" even, when someone else says "wow, how many tattoo do you have?" Best answer isn't i have two sleeves, two chaps, and an upper body suit. best answer is...one.

First off it should only be referenced to as squid appendages. I got a squid shirt and some squid pants started but only after the tatty zap gun finishes inkin me bro.


All joking aside, I use the term (even though I hate it) for lack of a better word to most people, but never refer to anything less than a "sleeve". Half, quarter, third-pounder, all sound like shit.

I unliked this just so I could like it again.

A sleeve in my mind is when all skin from shoulder cap to wrist is covered. There is nothing in between. Thats my opinion...in the end it doesn't matter one single fucking bit what a "sleeve" is or isnt.
