  2. 4 laser sessions over 1 year period Wish I had a before photo first photo is after the laser, but was black line work to start with, still looks like a cover up but was able to get some color in it as well
  3. The who, what, where, when, and why of your first tattoo with a picture pls?!?
  4. Not every tattoo has to have a deep, symbolic meaning. Some of my favorites are actually quite juvenile and stupid. Only post if it's actually a tattoo you personally have done or have on your own body. Oh yeah, and make me laugh! Here's mine to start it off. To really get this joke you need to know it's located on my right inner thigh  Tattoo by Juan Puente 2008
  5. I've been seeing a lot of his tattoos pop up lately. Get ready to laugh.....so terrible... http://www.facebook.com/bear.hanson1

  7. Anyone seen this ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D6tKkhhVDw He doesnt come off well in the interview but thats partly cos the interviewer is a twat. Total Maniac, but also a really talented tattooist ... TATTOOING BY WOODY :: Woody's Tattoo Studio, High Wycombe, UK
  8. We found LST and now get good tattoos but what before? We must of got some bad tattoos on the way.... Here we can post our bad tattoos and the story behind them I'll start with one of mine, done when I was 16 some 22 years ago, even when new people asked what it was, it's a bat moon and 3 stars by the way...!
  9. Hello, I'm obviously new here, & I've heard a lot of great things about this forum so I figured I'd give it a shot. My main reason for joining is because I am in desperate need of advice for a cover-up of the tat I got when I turned 18. As you can see it's fantastic. On top of it being a bright green square its also slightly crooked (The way I'm standing trying to take the pic myself makes it look a lot worse) I've got a rib cage piece of black & grey roses and a compass, so I'd like to stay away from more roses. Ideally i'd like to use as little color as possible as well, but I'm open to whatever needs to be done to save me from the "Yea I think your tractor's sexy" comments every time I go to the beach. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you
  10. This is a kid im friends with on facebook....bragging about his sweet new tattoos from a guy he knows named lego!! good call
  11. "Heroes" starlet Hayden Panettiere likes to show off the tattoo she has running down her left side, but it seems to have been misspelled. Often visible above her dresses for the first word, the tattoo in full reads "Vivere senza rimipianti," which is meant to be "to live without regrets" in Italian. Unfortunately for Hayden, her tattoo reads "rimipianti" instead of "rimpianti," adding an extra "i." here is a shot for the fellas on here:
  12. Ugliest Tattoos looks like all the work was done for us! i particularly like this one: real classy! i'm sure he's really 3rd base with that one!

  14. So, I know the PC answer here is that our children must wait until they are 18 like everyone else, BUT... I know of 2 instances where someone let their kid get tattooed before 18 and I sort of don't have a problem with it (for them). Seems hypocritical since I made my son wait until his 18th birthday and threatened him that if he got a tattoo from anyone but my husband he would NEVER get tattooed at our shop and also filled his head with all types of cleanliness, health and safety issue horrors, all in an effort to keep him from going elsewhere or letting some sketchy sketcher fuck him up before he turned 18. In our case it worked. He waited and got a really nice tattoo for his birthday. But... SEVERAL of his friends have gotten tattooed before age 18 in street shops, just walkin in. WTF? Anyhow, the first person I heard of was a guest tattooer at our friends' shop in Denver. His daughter had been begging for a tattoo since she was about 8 years old. He kept putting her off and making her wait, thinking she would grow out of it and change her mind. She didn't and by 12 years old was talking about it non-stop. So then he set up a series of goals and expectations for school work and chores and behavior, and told her if she did it all she could get a (tiny) tattoo. He figured she would never be able to comply with the entire list. She did everything he asked her to do. So, then he was kind of stuck and had to honor his word so he gave her a tiny dime sized star on her shoulder. (Her name is Estrella.) That parlayed into 3 more stars, one for each family member so she now has 4 little stars. I still think 12 is too young, but after hearing the entire explanation from this guy it somehow started to sound ok in this instance. The second is an acquaintance of mine who's let her son who is 15 get a few tattoos. (I think he has 4 or 5 now.) He's grown up in a tattoo shop and will most likely tattoo for a living. I think he is already learning. And there are other circumstances that I won't mention here, but if you knew this family, Im telling you it just wouldn't seem that weird for mom to allow this. In my mind 15 is different than 12, but both are not 18 at the end of the day. I think my final stand is that it's not ok for my family but I can see how it might be ok for others. Mind you these are parents (or friends of the parents) tattooing their own kids in their own shops. Im not in any way suggesting that one should ever tattoo a minor that you didn't personally know, even if the parents were there. I know my husband would never do it, under any circumstance. So the question of this thread is... is it ever ok?
  15. This comes after a comment Julio made: "this guy rolled through the shop in san jose once. kinda rockabilly type with is rockabilly girl. he did have a mustache and goatee going on. but under the mustache you could see he had a mustache TATTOOED on him!!!!!!! it was kinda in the shape of the pringles guy. he wanted a day of the dead sugar skull of him and his girl with a dagger. i drew one with the silly mustache. he never came back to get it tattooed. i think i offended him with the funny mustache on the skull that represented him." There have gotta be more folks holding on to drawings like this that never happened!
  16. Note to the moderators, this is my leg, tattoo removal being done on me, not a client / stranger / randoms. Back in 1997 I started what I hoped would be an epic leg sleeve - and ended up falling out of love with it about a year or two later. I also added to the back, by a different artist, a totally random piece to what you see here and what's on the side. By 1999 I had zero intention of actually finishing it and started focusing more on work, a career and things like that. Since then I've had several other tattoos that I actually like, but have always dealt with what's that? whenever I wear shorts. Thus, I started having them removed a while ago. Since this piece was mostly grey wash, and put in rather lightly, I've had some really great results after a single treatment. Thursday night I sat through a 2nd treatment on this piece and had 1st treatments on the right side of my leg and a piece on the back. Healing is going well already and hopefully by the second week of January I can get another treatment.
  17. So over the past few weeks I've had some conversations outside this forum with people on tattoo coverups and seem to be seeing more than the normal amount for me. I've taken some of the tips from this thread in LST tattoo forum Tattoo Cover up or removal and shared it with the individuals. But have had some observations lead to assumptions that I want to turn to hypothesis by asking on this tattoo forum that I thought could be fun and intriguing. One of my friends was edge at a very young age as she grew up around lots of east coast edge kids that were also family members then broke it a few months after she turned twenty-one. During here teen years see accumulated four different straight edge tattoos. She has been in the process of covering them up for some years now but the one that really catches my eye is this large belly rocker of the three X's covered up by big roses. I understand three large X's in black ink are going to be difficult to cover and the tattooer did a good job except if you look closely then you can totally see them. So my first questions based off of some years observations and now reflections not only with this individual but others are: -Are roses and panthers the most common "objects" used to cover-up tattoos? -What other ones are common "goto" tattoos for tattoo coverups? Onto the other part....so another one of my friends has this tattoo outlined on her back that she refuses to let people see so much that when she's at the beach or other warmer climates she opts to wear a "tank-kini" rather than a bikini as she dislikes the tattoo that much. It is just an outline and spans about three quarters of her back in more of a "frame" manner and not so much the center and wants to do a tattoo cover-up. She has been considering the laser then coverup route and if she was in DC I'd send her to Karl Hedgepath at Jinxproof for laser and coverup but she is in the Bay Area. So the next set of questions: -Bay Area good tattoo laser removal businesses? -Bay Area good tattoo coverup tattooers? -Also to make this more informative for other locations...Who in you opinion does the best tattoo coverup? If you answer this please list the tattooers name, shop, and location (if you know all that info). Of course if you have before and after photos share them!! Thanks and let the schooling begin.........
  18. Ok, so I don't talk about politics here, and I'm not about to start (nor do I want this thread to start any political debates), but this is just batshit crazy, regardless of who your candidate of choice is. From the one and only Gawker:
  19. ...will get the best of your better judgement. I had been hearing about this guy for a while now: To the Point Tattoos Charles Parent (you can easily Google and see his website, more on that in a second). This place just happens to be not very far from where I live, and I felt like taking the dogs to a new destination on their walk...Went there and the man himself introduced himself to me, claimed he had "34 years" doing this. The shop is in his house, although he at least converted the garage to what looks to be a fairly decent shop environment. Proper chairs, etc...There was one other lady and two other young guys working there. But... He showed me the coverup he did himself on one of the young guys that works there. The young guy showed me and proudly exclaimed this was all freehand, none of "that stencil shit" (yeah, why would you want to draw something in advance, position it, etc?). It's here: Charles' Gallery - To The Point Tattoo (if that doesn't work, go to Home - To The Point Tattoo, then pick Charles' gallery) Go all the way to the last two pictures, the first one is titled "Coverup extraordinaire", then a closeup of it. I don't know if "Crayola drawn on by a 12 year old" was the desired effect, but that's what I got from it. It was hard keeping a straight face looking at it, but I walked out, never to darken that doorstep again (unless someone I know and like is on their way there to get tattooed, then I'll have to go stop them!) Don't know if there's any truth to the accusations of him stealing stuff for his portfolio, but let's just say looking at his gallery shows me two different calibers of work: 1- Nice and clean, and 2 - Horrendous. That is usually not done by the same person, unless he's heavily medicated at times! Anybody know this guy?
  20. I think about this all the time; someone shows you a really jacked up tattoo and waits, beaming for your praise. For the most part, I used to say "nice one" or something noncommittal, but I've increasingly had less of a poker face and have been getting called on not liking their tattoo. When they ask what's wrong... I've been telling them. Is not letting a friend know he/she is wearing garbage (on a technical level, not an ideological level) tantamount to encouraging them to get more crap work? Or should I just be polite? Thoughts?
  21. https://www.facebook.com/SynysterInk Dude makes Big Dogz look like Fillip Leu
  22. A new level of tattoo stupidity may have been reached. This falls under terrible tattoos, bad tattoos, what not to tattoo, tattoo regrets, funny tattoo pictures and many many more.....
