  1. I just watched these because of this thread and I'm so glad I did. I love the piece by Bailey Hunter Robinson. It's exciting to see a contemporary artist interpreting the old turn of the century stuff.
  2. @Iwar I'm definitely going to go for something traditional, I'm leaning towards an anchor i like the classic sailor jerry flash that's black and red with the 2 stars on either side. I've been going through some issues lately and coming out the other side now happier and healthier, so I like the idea of marking this point in time and "anchoring" myself to it. I'm a little torn-up about artists, so I think I'm at the stage where I just need to head into shops and look at their flash and portfolios.
  3. Fantastic article! I've only recently starting researching tattoos and learning about flash in-particular, but this sums up to me what I've been finding. You might think the image you find on google will make a great tattoo, but you're not a tattooer and the tattooer will know best what will translate onto skin. Those classic images are classic for a reason, because they're the kind of art that translates well into a tattoo. My first tattoo will definitely be some classic flash
  4. Whether you like it or hate it, at least there's some artists out there that are willing to push the limit of what people may find tasteful. Tattoo's are all about self expression and power to those that feel this style does the job for them, especially if it's an artist and technically sound tattoo. Here's a couple examples I found locally:
  5. Thanks for the input everyone. I'm in Vancouver so I may have to check out Mikel or put this idea on the shelf until I can travel to find the right artist.
  6. I get it's a postage stamp, but if I took the maple leaf design itself would it integrate well into a dotwork tattoo?
  7. I've been looking at this design quite a bit, would it be considered dotwork?
  8. Hey Shaq, welcome to a fellow BC'er
  9. Hey Everyone, My name is Will and I live in Vancouver, BC. I found Last Sparrow because I'm thinking about getting my first tattoo and found the links to the interviews on youtube when I was watching Vice's Tattoo Age. Hope to bounce some ideas around and check out some cool tattoos so I know what I want and where to go so I can get the best tattoo possible. Cheers
