Thoughts on my collection so far! Do they look cohesive?

Kinda have fallen into a black red and green patch work situation. Thinking of sticking with that color scheme moving forward. All my tattoos are by different artists so far so I’m wondering how they look together as a cohesive unit if I were to continue to get similar work. Do they all kinda fall into the same style? Also curious about general quality of work ect. Someone said they looked like ‘scratcher’ tattoos lol. Apologies that the photos aren’t great. I can take better ones if need be. Thanks!

Can I ask why you think that? They’ve all been done at reputable places with artists I’ve vetted before hand. I know what I think matters the most, and I like them, but I don’t understand why you think they’re ‘crap’

Here are some better photos of them fresh, I don’t know if that makes any difference. I guess it’s just a little disheartening to hear.

The artwork is not very good; the lines aren’t consistent, some look really heavy, some are wobbly; some of the color isn’t saturated; the lettering is uneven; overall they look very flat and one dimensional. I don’t agree that they are “scratcher” tattoos at all, I’m just recommending that you learn to evaluate Tattooers and find some better artists. I’m not sure how you vetted these artists, but if their work looked like this and you thought it was good, you really need to learn how to properly vet an artist.

As @Danand @Hogridermentioned, the quality of these tattoos is subpar. They look like they are by an apprentice, i.e., someone very new to tattooing. Just look for a better artist to get more work. Let us know where you are and maybe we can help.

As for your original question—no, they don't look particularly cohesive. But I'm covered in lots of tattoos that don't really go together, but my artist (the guy who has done 99% of my work) finds ways to tie them all together. Just work on getting better work done. Good luck!

@oboogieim based in chicago, so lots of options around here. Most of my work was done at Speakeasy Custom by people who have been tattooing for a while. I’m curious what you think of the shop or if you have recommendations of other places.

I didn't look at all of the tattooers and all of their tattoos, but overall I wasn't that impressed. Lots of one dimensional, flat work. Also, I wouldn't get hung up on how long someone has been tattooing. The guy that did my wife's tattoo had only been tattooing for 3 years and he absolutely killed it. 10 years later, it still looks fresh.

I'd seriously suggest watching Ink Masters. Skip to the end of each show where they do the critiques and you'll miss all the silly made up drama. The judges critique each tattoo and tell what's good and bad about it. There are plenty of shitty tattooers on that show and a lot of them have been tattooing for a long time. It's just a place to start. I'd go to tattoo conventions where you'll see everything from absolute crap to outstanding work. Look at Tattoo magazines. Educate yourself before you get more tattoos.

I really like the bird and the sheep.   And what @Dan said.

I understand what the others are saying but I didn’t see any problems with them at first glance. If I met you and saw your tattoos I wouldn’t even notice the specificities of the designs. Most people won’t. I think the sword one is both really awesome and I think that’s the most technically well done. I like the red theme and I think it makes them cohesive. They represent you and they make you happy—that’s all that matters.
