Dumb Hipster Tattoos

Recommended Posts

I agree with @Badtaste ... I would much rather tattoo some of these hipster tattoos than silhouetted birds, infinity symbols and lots of other Pinterest specials :) dinosaurs on unicycles, owls, and animals dressed as people? Yes please ^_^ while they may be trendy, they're still infinitely better than rib paragraphs and tribal armbands :)

@Badtaste & @Chelsea Shonek, I love both of your work!

This is where the term "hipster" gets confusing for me. I used to think of a hipster as just a hip person...a cool person, creative, artistic, musical, whatever. The term has definitely taken a turn and these days it seems to mean: a douchebag.

Anyway, the people you guys tattoo seem pretty cool to me. They get good tattoos.

I've heard of these but didn't know they actually existed. Horrible.

The thing that blows me away the most is the fact that he's posing as if he looks cool.

I think bare arms with hands tattooed and a covered neck looks ridiculous, personally.

Hipster goes back as far as the beatnik days, look up Jack Kerouac and you get an idea. I haven't heard it in decades and now it seems to expemplify dbaggery to the nth degree.

I just showed my son this. He called it "the ever-lasting job stopper". Great lulz...

Jesus...

I'm a big believer in folks getting whatever the hell they want tattooed on them, but some people really stretch the limits of my 'are you fucking serious...' meter.

I freaking hate Hipsters. Their stupid hair cuts and effing big glasses. I'm 22 and have always had big clunky glasses bc medicaid only covered those big "grandma glasses" when i was young so i got use to them. it doesn't help that my lenses are effing thick and cant fit in to those super thin frames. I was made fun of for needing glasses and now people don't even have lenses in their fucking frames!!!!

I'm nerdy and Childish which means all the things I am completely in love with are being stream lined by these retards. If you approach me looking like one of those idiots i wont talk to you and look at you like you cant tie your shoes.

Sorry done now.

Not sure if this counts as hipster, but Harry potter tattoos are freaking everywhere. Personally I can't stand them

I have one and HATE that their so popular. I'm a HUGE HP fan read the books multiple times and HATE the 5th and 6th movies bc they're garbage and a disgrace. I've wanted a tribute to the serious since middle school and when i did finally get one (The Deathly Hallos symbol the triangle with the circle and the line)......i want to scratch it off with a fucking S.O.S. pad i was so pissed how many bitches had them and DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY MEAN.

It represents OVER COMING / BEATING death..... so quotes like "death is the next great adventure" or some shit doesn't belong with it!!!!

How horrible that you got a tattoo taken from the highest selling book series of all time and other people got it too. But yeah, claiming to understand things on a much deeper level than everybody else isn't hipster behavior at all.

I saw a hipster walking around with a bow tie tattoo, I asked him why he had it and he just said "you wouldn't understand"

i hope you learned your lesson. asking strangers about the meaning behind tattoos is silly.

Translated "because all my friends have one. I don't want to be the only one who isn't a douche bag."

There is a contestant currently on Project Runway with a bow tie tattoo on his chest... he actually wears bow ties and maybe sews them, too. While it's not a great tattoo, it seems to suit him. His friends probably don't all have the same tattoo. He probably just really likes bow ties.

...will get the best of your better judgement.
I had been hearing about this guy for a while now: To the Point Tattoos Charles Parent
(you can easily Google and see his website, more on that in a second).
This place just happens to be not very far from where I live, and I felt like taking the dogs to a new destination on their walk...Went there and the man himself introduced himself to me, claimed he had "34 years" doing this. The shop is in his house, although he at least converted the garage to what looks to be a fairly decent shop environment. Proper chairs, etc...There was one other lady and two other young guys working there.
      But...
He showed me the coverup he did himself on one of the young guys that works there. The young guy showed me and proudly exclaimed this was all freehand, none of "that stencil shit" (yeah, why would you want to draw something in advance, position it, etc?).
It's here: Charles' Gallery - To The Point Tattoo (if that doesn't work, go to Home - To The Point Tattoo, then pick Charles' gallery)
Go all the way to the last two pictures, the first one is titled "Coverup extraordinaire", then a closeup of it. I don't know if "Crayola drawn on by a 12 year old" was the desired effect, but that's what I got from it. It was hard keeping a straight face looking at it, but I walked out, never to darken that doorstep again (unless someone I know and like is on their way there to get tattooed, then I'll have to go stop them!) Don't know if there's any truth to the accusations of him stealing stuff for his portfolio, but let's just say looking at his gallery shows me two different calibers of work: 1- Nice and clean, and 2 - Horrendous. That is usually not done by the same person, unless he's heavily medicated at times!
      Anybody know this guy?

Hey all, so I am new to this forum (you can see my introduction post I just did) and I recently had a terrible experience with a tattoo. I believe I have been pretty smart in making my decisions as far as what tattoos I get, making sure to do my research on the artist, actually paying the right price as to get the quality of work I expect etc...I also give myself a 3 month rule, once I decide I want the piece I set my date to get it 3 months from that day, and if I still feel the same way about it, I go ahead. I am a sporadic person, but definitely not when it comes to tattoos, I think because my grandfather got a tattoo in the Navy in is youth on a whim and he hated it his entire life and would talk about it frequently...anyways, back to the main point. So I just came to my three month date of my newest tattoo and went in to get it done. The artist checked out, the shop was legitimate, the price for the time/size was just about right...everything seemed great right? We start on the piece which is another 8 bit video game tribute 9see my gallery if you want to see some of my other pieces) So while I am getting the tattoo from the artist (I will not name the shop or artist as I think it is wrong to bash an artist and or shop unless they purposely screwed you over, plus artists have to start somewhere, not everyone is going to be the best artist in the world overnight), his girlfriend/booty call/baby's momma/whatever comes screeching off the street in her car and plowed through the front of the shop!! It happened so abruptly that the artist jumped and his hand slipped drawing this scattered, crooked line due to the movement of his hand. So now I am sitting here with a tattoo that is maybe 25-30% done and 8-bit so the lines have to be perfectly straight in order for it to look good, and there is this botched "line" if you want to call it that, where the artist's hand slipped while the motor was running so it looks like Morse code cause the needled traveled across my arm and botched it. So to get even better, the artist completely turned his attention to this crazy girl that had just driven her car through the front of the shop!!! She gets out of the car and starts screaming bloody murder and of course the artist begins to yell back! They were yelling your baby this and cheating on me that etc...so I am sitting her like "uuuhhh hey man, are you going to at least say something about that line that completely just ruined the tattoo!?" This is when everything got really out of hand! She straight up linebacker tackled the artist and they began to get into a scuffle. I am sitting there in complete awe of what I am seeing all while looking at this tattoo that looks pretty good thus far on one side, then the other side is clean, up until the giant line due to the car crashing through the shop. I was so confused and flustered I did not know what to do and I did not want to wait around but also I did not want to not pay the guy (I feel that would go against my integrity, because hey, it wasn't really his fault, well not directly at least) so I left $75 on the counter and got out of there. We were the only ones in the shop so it's not like I could really resolve the situation with someone else. I have called the guy multiple times since and no answer and he is no longer working at the shop (I really hope this chick didn't go postal on him!) So the situation I am in now is that many artists do not want to finish the work because a decent amount of the outline is done, but this line is horrendous! It completely ruins the original idea because now I have to have someone use that existing line and work it into the piece. I know it is not that big of a deal, but to me I wanted it to be a complete reproduction of the piece, now I know I am going to have to slightly modify it. On top of the, with the 8-bit work, having the lines be perfectly straight is what makes the tattoo...I have no idea how someone could fix this to make it straight (although I am not a coverup artist so I am sure there are many geniuses out there that could do it...I just need to find one...I live in the Los Angeles area, any suggestions would be soooo appreciated! It sucks because all my pieces, as I said earlier, are perfect in my eyes...this tattoo kills me to look at as I feel it takes away from the others... Does anyone else have any crazy mess up stories that are like this or...if possible...crazier!? I would have started a new forum in regards to this, but I am new to the community so I cannot post new threads...yet :) I apologize to the OP...I only posted in here because I have people suggest having the messed up line Laser removed then finish it properly...thoughts? I will post pictures later tonight or tom morning of this craziness. BTW, can't wait to start really being a part of this community, hopefully I have found a new home!
