I hate everything. That tattoo reminded me.

I'm so, so glad that I somehow knew in highschool without really knowing why, that it was a bad idea to get band tattoos. I'm willing to put money on a bet that the person with the green day ticket was under 21 when he got it.

I have a few band tattoos.... SWANS (bunny boy), neurosis (fenris head) and melvins (Kozik two headed dog). They are pretty small...I dont regret them but I think artwork is a bit different then lets say a logo or a symbol specific to the band. Still, I would cover one or two up if they got in the way of something better mostly because they arent done that well.

I wanted to get a Swans bunny when I was about 17. Interestingly, as long as it was done by someone with skill, I would not have regretted that in the slightest. Their last album was fucking great.

Yea....the last tour was amazing as well. New album soon too! I first got into them around when soundtracks for the blind came out so I NEVER got to see them untill last year. Needless to say it was an important day. Too bad my bunny boy isnt done so well and I smashed it while it was healing so the face is a bit rubbed off....But i love it anyway.

Is it new material or a live album coming out soon?

I got into them around 1990 when they were constantly being mentioned in relation to a lot of the UK noise bands such as Godflesh and Headbutt. Filth is very much in my top favourite albums of all time, and has been for over 20 years. It is brutal and stripped back. I didn't get to see them live on their last tour, much to my irritations. I'm not going to make the same mistake twice, that's for sure.

I think it must be nice to have an old tattoo like that which has a bit of history. I was way too cautious to commit.

complaining about hipsters makes people look insecure imo. i hate most people in general but the whole hipster finger pointing is often times the pot calling the kettle black.

Oh c'mon man it's just a little fun. I'm making fun of hipster tattoos and one of mine is a rabbit in a suit, pretty damn hipster tattoo right there.

I will take animals in top hats riding unicycles smoking pipes with monocles and mustaches over people coming in with pictures of the cast of Jersey Shore as reference material. I am just saying things could be worse.

What in Christ's name is wrong with that young man's hair?

He looks like one of those guys you fight in the game Double Dragon on original Nintendo. But his hair is only the beginning of his problems. Some guy was taking like five minutes to pull up a picture on his iPhone and this is what he came up with. I said "you wanted a star so you showed me a picture of the guy from the Jersey Shore? Why would you want to look like that guy?" I try to be a nice guy but for some reason this dude set me off, He left and I am sure I offended him but I was beside myself that day.

I've tattooed helvetica in helvetica font on 4 people in the last couple of months. NOT a cool tattoo. They all seem to think they are very original with it too.

Next one you finish, you should say "Damn, that's the 10th one I've done this week!"

    • I’m currently working on my sleeve and I’m about halfway done with it. I noticed now that there’s a small smell on my tattoo. I can’t smell it from a distance and only can smell it when I get super close to my tattoo. I’m just concerned with the thought of an infection but I’ve done everything the same I have with my 7 other tattoos. I have no unusual pain with it and it isn’t red or inflamed. Just would like a little advice on what to do?
    • Hey! Wouldn't by chance be going to the empire state ny tattoo expo would ya?  In any case, i did a 3 day marathon and boy was it tough. i did the ole soap and a balm that my artist provided. With that being said, you should 100% ask your artist(s) as they know how they tattoo and how their tattoos heal for the most part. They should tell you what to do but i've heard many great things about saniderm. Best of luck!
    • Hi all.  Looking for some advice here.  I'm attending an upcoming 3 day tattoo convention and was thinking about getting tattooed each day.  My dilemma would be about the healing process.  Basically I'm curious if anyone has done this before and how they healed.  I know the go-to answer will be Saniderm/Tegaderm, but I have used that stuff a few times and even though I healed fine, something about covering my tattoo with a sticky bandage just makes me paranoid something will get trapped in there.  I end up not liking it because I spend too much time worrying.  But on the other hand, if I just use the soap & aquaphor method, I'm afraid that won't be any good because I'll be around a lot of people and I'll be getting another tattoo in the same area (all 3 would be on my legs).  I'm worried about the tattoo being exposed or possibly infected, or just not heal well because of everything going on.  Thanks for reading this far and I appreciate any advice that is offered.

...will get the best of your better judgement.
I had been hearing about this guy for a while now: To the Point Tattoos Charles Parent
(you can easily Google and see his website, more on that in a second).
This place just happens to be not very far from where I live, and I felt like taking the dogs to a new destination on their walk...Went there and the man himself introduced himself to me, claimed he had "34 years" doing this. The shop is in his house, although he at least converted the garage to what looks to be a fairly decent shop environment. Proper chairs, etc...There was one other lady and two other young guys working there.
      But...
He showed me the coverup he did himself on one of the young guys that works there. The young guy showed me and proudly exclaimed this was all freehand, none of "that stencil shit" (yeah, why would you want to draw something in advance, position it, etc?).
It's here: Charles' Gallery - To The Point Tattoo (if that doesn't work, go to Home - To The Point Tattoo, then pick Charles' gallery)
Go all the way to the last two pictures, the first one is titled "Coverup extraordinaire", then a closeup of it. I don't know if "Crayola drawn on by a 12 year old" was the desired effect, but that's what I got from it. It was hard keeping a straight face looking at it, but I walked out, never to darken that doorstep again (unless someone I know and like is on their way there to get tattooed, then I'll have to go stop them!) Don't know if there's any truth to the accusations of him stealing stuff for his portfolio, but let's just say looking at his gallery shows me two different calibers of work: 1- Nice and clean, and 2 - Horrendous. That is usually not done by the same person, unless he's heavily medicated at times!
      Anybody know this guy?

Hey all, so I am new to this forum (you can see my introduction post I just did) and I recently had a terrible experience with a tattoo. I believe I have been pretty smart in making my decisions as far as what tattoos I get, making sure to do my research on the artist, actually paying the right price as to get the quality of work I expect etc...I also give myself a 3 month rule, once I decide I want the piece I set my date to get it 3 months from that day, and if I still feel the same way about it, I go ahead. I am a sporadic person, but definitely not when it comes to tattoos, I think because my grandfather got a tattoo in the Navy in is youth on a whim and he hated it his entire life and would talk about it frequently...anyways, back to the main point. So I just came to my three month date of my newest tattoo and went in to get it done. The artist checked out, the shop was legitimate, the price for the time/size was just about right...everything seemed great right? We start on the piece which is another 8 bit video game tribute 9see my gallery if you want to see some of my other pieces) So while I am getting the tattoo from the artist (I will not name the shop or artist as I think it is wrong to bash an artist and or shop unless they purposely screwed you over, plus artists have to start somewhere, not everyone is going to be the best artist in the world overnight), his girlfriend/booty call/baby's momma/whatever comes screeching off the street in her car and plowed through the front of the shop!! It happened so abruptly that the artist jumped and his hand slipped drawing this scattered, crooked line due to the movement of his hand. So now I am sitting here with a tattoo that is maybe 25-30% done and 8-bit so the lines have to be perfectly straight in order for it to look good, and there is this botched "line" if you want to call it that, where the artist's hand slipped while the motor was running so it looks like Morse code cause the needled traveled across my arm and botched it. So to get even better, the artist completely turned his attention to this crazy girl that had just driven her car through the front of the shop!!! She gets out of the car and starts screaming bloody murder and of course the artist begins to yell back! They were yelling your baby this and cheating on me that etc...so I am sitting her like "uuuhhh hey man, are you going to at least say something about that line that completely just ruined the tattoo!?" This is when everything got really out of hand! She straight up linebacker tackled the artist and they began to get into a scuffle. I am sitting there in complete awe of what I am seeing all while looking at this tattoo that looks pretty good thus far on one side, then the other side is clean, up until the giant line due to the car crashing through the shop. I was so confused and flustered I did not know what to do and I did not want to wait around but also I did not want to not pay the guy (I feel that would go against my integrity, because hey, it wasn't really his fault, well not directly at least) so I left $75 on the counter and got out of there. We were the only ones in the shop so it's not like I could really resolve the situation with someone else. I have called the guy multiple times since and no answer and he is no longer working at the shop (I really hope this chick didn't go postal on him!) So the situation I am in now is that many artists do not want to finish the work because a decent amount of the outline is done, but this line is horrendous! It completely ruins the original idea because now I have to have someone use that existing line and work it into the piece. I know it is not that big of a deal, but to me I wanted it to be a complete reproduction of the piece, now I know I am going to have to slightly modify it. On top of the, with the 8-bit work, having the lines be perfectly straight is what makes the tattoo...I have no idea how someone could fix this to make it straight (although I am not a coverup artist so I am sure there are many geniuses out there that could do it...I just need to find one...I live in the Los Angeles area, any suggestions would be soooo appreciated! It sucks because all my pieces, as I said earlier, are perfect in my eyes...this tattoo kills me to look at as I feel it takes away from the others... Does anyone else have any crazy mess up stories that are like this or...if possible...crazier!? I would have started a new forum in regards to this, but I am new to the community so I cannot post new threads...yet :) I apologize to the OP...I only posted in here because I have people suggest having the messed up line Laser removed then finish it properly...thoughts? I will post pictures later tonight or tom morning of this craziness. BTW, can't wait to start really being a part of this community, hopefully I have found a new home!
