Lochlan
Yesterday I was shown a newer site called pinterest.com and was wondering if any LSTers are using it? Or are there other sites like it you are using? Pinterest seemed cool for having mobile access to your favorite buttons if you are on multiple computers...... remindsmeofyou
What I like about Pinterest is that it automatically saves the source of the image. Which is very helpful as a user, and also respects the owner of the original image. Lochlan
Lochlan
Alright so we, LST, setup a page....trying to figure it out and see how it goes. If you want to see here it is LST Pinterest Page. It is kind of frustrating that some of the tattoo artist, blogs and shops we follow regularly we can not add to pinterest due to how their websites are built...blahumbug I had to request an invitation so if you want one let me know..... Ursula
I'm on there my user name is, yup you guessed it, Ursula Thomson. I use it to collect images of fashion I enjoy as well as wedding ideas. Good way to keep it in one place and be able to click that image and go right to where it came from. Plus I really, really like shopping. dari
ThaliaCamille
I've been using it lately, have a few boards: hair/makeup, art, food, crafts and decor. I don't use the social side of it, though - I just pin stuff from Tumblr and other places on the internet to keep in one place for myself, rather than "repinning" things from the site itself. Erica
Are people using this? we are trying to, but it seems pretty geared toward weddings. and cupcakes. ps. Providence Tattoo (pvdtattoo) on Pinterest
Mike Panic
As much as I'm on social media, Pinterest is one I just have no use for. I'm a huge Evernote fan and with the app on my Mac and iPhone, and the Firefox extention that allows for "clipping" - I'd rather just have articles and stuff stored locally then in the "cloud" for everyone to see. I'm also a big evernote fan for the basic stuff (To Do lists, quick info, etc) but a program called BasKet is truly epic. Also back on topic. I do remember reading an interesting article that said the demographics of Pintrest. http://mashable.com/2012/02/25/pinterest-user-demographics/
Our Endless Days
tumblr is probably my favorite social media website.
Mr. Smith
I've started using Pinterest quite a bit recently. For the longest time, I just didn't get it, but discovered that it's fucking brilliant for recipes. I do all of the cooking in our house and we're vegan (well, my fiancee eats cheese, but I'm vegan so all of the meals we eat together are), so I get really stoked when I find a tasty, easy recipe, and I spend a fair amount of time on recipe blogs/food porn sites. Pinterest makes it way easy to keep track of all of the shit I want to try making, and since I started using it, I haven't had to spend 20 minutes cursing while trying different combinations of words on google trying to find something I stumbled across a few days back. I still haven't really got into the social aspect of it though.
Mike Panic
Also back on topic. I do remember reading an interesting article that said the demographics of Pintrest. http://mashable.com/2012/02/25/pinterest-user-demographics/ Yup, "soccer moms" is the biggest user group by far. The real problem with Pinterest is that there is no $$ rolling in and in order to monetize the site, they will inevitably have to sell ad space. When that happens, virtually all content on the site will violate most US copyright laws, and the site will be forced to shut down.

Mike Panic
How would selling ad space violate copyright laws? This article: What You Should Know About Pinterest and Copyright | PCWorld and this one: Pinterest Outline most of the problem that they will face. Part of the issue is: "You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Cold Brew Labs, its officers, directors, employees and agents, harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including, without limitation, reasonable legal and accounting fees, arising out of or in any way connected with (i) your access to or use of the Site, Application, Services or Site Content, (ii) your Member Content, or (iii) your violation of these Terms.”Which translates to mean that if a photographer sues you for using an image illegally on Pinterest, you have to pay for your own lawyer and Pinterest’s lawyer, along with any charges against you and any charges against Pinterest.
