Amazing. Simply amazing.

Whatever happened to "Hi I'm (insert random dude name), how are you" or "Hi I'm (again random dude name) may I buy you a drink?" or even just "Hi, I find you beautiful and wanted to let you know"

Instead we get "Hi I'm some random fucking weirdo who hasn't showered and smells like urine, may I see your calves?" and when we reply no it turns into "What you think you too fuckin good for this? You think you're better than me cause you pretty huh? Well fuck you lady you ain't that hot"

I just flash my penis and growl.

Canadian quirks, eh?

Love it!! The sad part is I know a lot of people who actually talk like this (in some way, not all though). Might be just me, but I find it hilarious when people stereotype Canada like this.. some might be true, but that's what I love about it.

Oh and you missed "Toraano/Toronno" instead of Toronto. Haven't met anyone from here who actually pronounces the second T, but then again I am from the Toronto area :P

Thought I would of course mention the gun thing.

I had a customer come into my eatery, a dentist, and when he was paying, he started to empty his pockets looking for some change and happened to pull out a small semi-automatic handgun and casually laid it on the counter and kept on looking for a few cents.

A couple of weeks later, same dentist, invited me out of my store to take a look at something in his trunk, which happened to be some kind of 'military-style' rifle.

The handgun spooked me, but thought the rifle was pretty bad ass, actually.

Did I mention the guy is a dentist?

We do seem to have a fascination with guns, I love the feel, smell and the craftsmanship that goes into them. I only carried one when I operated a tow truck or went into NYC on the train. Even my fiancee at the time had a .25 Colt in her handbag and a spare clip in her bra. Until I had kids, I slept with a handgun between the mattress and box spring. My dad is 94 and still has his .32 revolver around.

Yes, there still is a lot of racism in America.

Society rewards folks like Amanda Knox and Casey Anthony.

Favor NASCAR over F1.

Think a good deal trumps a good tattoo.

Like everything super-sized (Meals, Lattes, SUVs, TVs).

...too many to mention.

Blaming everything on the current president is also an American quirk. There was a girl on FACEBOOK that actually blamed the POTUS for her having to sell her Jeep because it got poor gas mileage. As if she didnt' know the gas mileage when she bought it. As if she were unaware that putting bigger tires on it would make the gas mileage worse. As if she were unaware of the endless cycles and trends towards higher gas prices over the past 40 years!

The current Prez is always easy pickins for the political ignoroids. I work with a guy like that, finally had to tell him stop sending me crap he finds on the internets to support his non-existent case.

americans are very loud and use the word "awesome" to describe everything.

While I am not loud I can admit to the overuse of the word awesome. One thing my german friends pointed out when they lived here was americans lovf to have "friends" and are quick to label people as "friends" while they are really just people they know

One Ami quirk that REALLY sets us apart from Euros...we may be loud, but 99% of the time, if a guy gets in your face and calls you names, or whatever, he's ready to back that up. From the time I lived in Germany, I'd have to say the exact opposite is true. Seems all the Germans/Euros I met would say anything about anyone, and then be shocked when I suggested they step outside and get a punch in the nose.

Well, I wouldn't put it quite that radically...

If I'm in a bar or coffeeshop or whatever, say, in Chicago, and I start to point at someone and laugh about his appearance, or whatever, I expect that at some point he's going to object, probably violently. I'd be surprised if he didn't. My experiences in Europe were the opposite. People seemed to expect to be able to say anything, point, laugh, whatever, and not have anyone object.

Case in point, a German friend of mine, while still in college, got in an argument with a classmate about something, and the classmate pushed him and tore a gold chain from his neck. Did he deck him? Did he come back with a baseball bat and rearrange his face? No. He sued him for damages.

Different ways of looking at things, I guess, and aggravated by the fact that I'm of an older generation/ that didn't typically resort to calling the police or tolerating verbal abuse.

All of the stereotypes ofthe "loud Ami" and the "rude Ami" kinda rankle...I've seen bad behavior from people all over the world.

But ol' Travis Bickle really did rock.

Haha not the case in Glasgow lol . My friend from Glasgow , but now living in Sweden , told me that one of the reasons he hates Sweden was that a bunch of guys tried to mug him , and he hit one of them and the others ran away lol ....

I have a problem with the way the media portrays Americans , because every American I have met IRL have been spot on lovely people, honest and trustworthy.

Americans are bigger, that is one of the obvious, stereotypical thing one notices straight away. I don't live in the States but as for the food in the UK, comparing to W. European food, I can only say that I've gained 10kg in 2 weeks after coming to the UK. Honest I haven't changed what and how much I ate, the same types of food carrie so much more calories in here because it is produced with all sorts of unhealthy ingredients! Even salads are made with mayo! I think USA might be even worse. There is nothing in ready meal section I can eat. I suppose I'd be starving in the US....

Oh, and the belief that fast food is suitable for children, as far as they get free toy is just beyond my understanding. I hope it is marginal, not the normal behaviour but it strikes me as American. (not intending to offend. I suppose it comes from years of socialist brainwashing about the evil effects of capitalism, and those would be the first things one notices)
