anything in the works? would people be interested in meeting up?

i know some of you see each other on a regular basis so maybe this isn't necessary. just thought it might be kind of fun...

i think it would be fun to one day meet at say a rest. and grab a bite to eat. that being said, my life status makes it hard for me to meet up.

i hear ya! between working full time and taking two classes on art history, my time is pretty eaten up too. so it would be nice to meet up with a bunch of folks, have some laughs, eat some food, share some (root/ginger) beer, and maybe catch up with each other. does that sound doable Tammy? i'd hate to leave someone out.

D and Lochlan,

are you two serious about Zachary's or are you kidding? i can't tell. as long as we can get a vegan pie, i'm down.

Zachary's is awesome, but not so great for getting a table for a large party, the wait for a small table is generally at least 45 minutes. For vegans at Zachary's, the best option is to take it home half baked and dump a bag of shreaded soy cheese (trader joes) on top, they don't have any pretend cheese there. On the other hand, we could go to Lanesplitters, where they do some yummy stuff with their notta ricotta.

Wednesday night would probably work best for us, you guys?

agreed about Zachary's not being good for crowds, but i don't mind having cheeseless pizza.

wednesday's in general are good for me, but this wednesday may be a bit of a pinch as tuesday is my birthday and then thursday i'm skipping town, and i've got to fit in homework in between. what does everyone else think? if this wednesday works, then i'll just fit it in.

Happy Birthday. And I like the idea. Maybe we should plan for a weds mid-month to maybe help people arrange calendars?

I work in a bar called the Aventine, it's in the financial dist. It's got a prohibition era feel to it. It's a cool spot to hang if you ever find yourself with time to kill in the financial district.

awesome Nicky. i don't drink, but if i'm in the area and need a soda or a snack, i'll stop by.

anyone opposed to meeting up on Dec. 1? lanesplitters? is there somewhere else that is more convenient? not sure where everyone's coming from.

I might be in. Hard to tell this far in advance for me. Which Lanesplitters?

PS - mmmmm Zachary's! I agree with Dari though- not a good place for anything more than 4-6 people TOPS.

I should be in for December first and Lanesplitters sounds good. I was just at the new one on Adeline last night for a dinner meeting and the front doors are a trip anyone seen them? Anywho, count me in.

Lochlan, is the Adeline location bigger? i was thinking of Telegraph because that's closer to my work, but if Adeline is larger, that might be better.

oh and i kind of feel bummed about Tammy not being able to make it (and i don't even know her!) since she seems to be one of the original crew around here...

    • Heya all, new to the forums
Not a tattoo virgin, but am getting my first sleeve next month. I live in Greece, hence my choice of artists is quite limited. I need someone that is very knowledgeable about Japanese traditional/neo-traditional to talk to, to make sure i picked the right artist! I booked two sessions one day after the other, in January.
Im guessing im not allowed to post artist’s works on here, so whoever can help, pls PM me! Thanks!
    • I'm from Portland, OR. New here! Looking for some inspiration and guidance from this community about some tattoo ideas I've had rolling around my brain for the past 5 years. My first and only tattoos are five tiny hearts (almost freckle sized), and 8 years later I think I've finally thought long enough about my next idea to get the ball rolling. I want to do a half sleeve on my forearm of highly rendered florals (like a graphite pencil drawing). Something really realistic but no color and no hard black outlines. I have a hard time describing what I'm looking for, and as a resut, an even harder time finding examples of it. The only example I've ever seen was years ago on a friend of a friend, which was what sparked my idea in the first place. Does anyone have an artist that sounds like they do work like this, or a piece that fits into this description? Any help pointing the way would be useful! Thanks!!
    • You know, I was just about to post my wisdom tooth story. Around three months ago I had the absolute worst pain I've ever experienced. It felt like my head was in a vice that got tighter every hour. Turned out I had a horizontally impacted lower wisdom tooth that got abscessed. Had it removed, couldn't eat for a week. After it healed, a week later the other one started hurting. Had IT removed, got dry socket (look it up...damn Marlboro reds) couldn't eat for a week and a half. Now that familiar dull pain is starting up again...my surgery's at 9:50 am. Removing the last two at the same time. Thank god it's over. TL;DR Wisdom teeth suck.
