Non Whitening Sun Protection?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I am looking for sun protection that doesn't make my tattoo which is quite dark, white!

Can anyone recommend one that I can apply daily and doesn't whiten my tattoo?

I have tried loads now from super expensive to cheap and they all seem to do this..........

Thanks

I'm using a Neutrogena 45 on my ink. It goes on milky and then goes clear and stays on even in salt water and chlorine. Been using it all summer and it doesn't whiten any of my tattoos.

Thanks, it is one I haven't tried yet so I shall give it a go :)

I got it at Target in a 2-pack for $10.50, normally goes for $12 a tube. Been using it on some very new ink which shows no deep tanning so it works.

Ok just got Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 100+.

It is the best I have tried so far, hardly any white maybe just slightly but I will continue to use this until I find something totally white free which might not exist :)

    • So I recently got a tattoo on my inner right forearm, and I am a pretty big PC gamer, playing many hours a day. I tend to drag my arm over my mouse pad for mouse movements, and am worried about how it will affect my tattoo? Should I worry? I am thinking of buying an arm sleeve later on when my tattoo fully heals to prevent the direct contact between the tattoo and mousepad. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
    • Hey Jacob!  As, again, is mentioned above it's going to take a few weeks before you see how your tattoo is healed. The milkiness is normal and should fade with time. As long as you're not experiencing any signs of infection just keep taking care of it as your artist instructed and your tattoo should be just fine. Your tattoo looks great by the way! Congrats on the new ink!
    • Everything @Dan said, plus it will NEVER look the same as it did when you walked out the shop doors.

      Hey guys,
I'll add a pic later in the thread but I recently got a bicep tattoo, 3 days ago, decent size (a cover-up) and my bi-cep is the size of a ham. I had a similar experience with my forearm. Anyone else experience this?

Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how tattoos with no black in them look after a few years. I know it's generally frowned upon, but if it's a darker color (blue for example) would it last? Something like the picture I attached. I have no intention of getting anything like this by the way, I'm just curious as to how they hold up long term.

Hi everyone. So I've been trying to think of stufff i could add around my moth tattoo. I don't like all the empty space around it, but due to the shape of it I can't think of anything that would fit well. My first idea was roses, but if anyone has any suggestions they'd be much appreciated.
