TheFnTexan
So excited to get booked in with Dave Wah at the Austin Convention in January. He's been one of my bucket list artists for a while. Also, my wife and I are getting something from Aaron Is next weekend during his guest spot in Killeen, TX. SStu

I just need to save up and make the drive down to the Baltimore area one of these days.

JasonTO
Opinions needed. Some time back the artist I go to for most of my work posted to his Instagram a piece he did that involved a particular image that I was immediately attracted to but, more importantly, the tattoo was placed in a way I'd not seen before. It was a tradition piece going from ankle to waist. At that moment, my brain said, "ooh! I want an ankle to hip piece just like that!" It was an eagle fighting a snake. But I can't shake the feeling that if I get the same concept with the same placement, I'd be somehow stealing. It's a strange notion, since american traditional is based around a core canon of images, and there's only so many places to put a tattoo, so I can't think of many other instances where one could be accused of ripping something off. As long as the design incorporates its own spin on it, who cares? But it's something about the fact that I've never seen that placement before, and it would so obviously be taken from this particular tattoo, rather than a general "eagle vs snake on this general part of the body". I love love love this artist's eagles. I already have one. And there are few other creatures that would fit this placement. A dragon is the only other one I can think of, but I'm not crazy about dragons and the way the typical dimensions of dragon faces tell me that it would be harder to get as much detail down on that part of the body than it would a snake. But is doing an eagle vs. a snake on that part of the body, even if the design is different, a legitimate concern, or am I driving myself crazy over nothing? It's funny, because I've actually been in the position of having my tattoo "inspire" a rash of others like it, and I had no issue. This was a very common image though (tiger head with a snake in its mouth), but I guess people really dug the way this artist pulled it off and wanted their own and within a month four or five others popped up on his instagram page. I didn't mind and they were different colours, sometimes even different animals, but I can't help but this my situation now is a bit different. Thoughts? If this was the artist you have most of your work from I'd say stop asking us and ask him/her. Say you admired the tattoo and placement and wondered about getting something similar. Appointment with Chad at State of Grace! haven't been tattooed there since 2010, so i'm excited to feel that vibe again. Joey Ryan
2nd session on my Mandala half sleeve by Daniel Meyer https://www.instagram.com/dasleitbild/ was pushed back a month, to November 10th! Started it in the beginning of September. A little bummed on waiting, but its only a month. and i'll have better time to heal on the 10th with only one day back at work, before the weekend to rest. Hospitelli
@JasonTO I wouldn't worry about it at all. Tattooing is cyclical and even if that is the first time you have seen or come across that type of placement for that idea I assure you that it has been done before many times over. The challenge here is for the artist to take the same idea/placement and make it fresh and new without utilizing or biting off of the work that he has done on previous clients. In all honesty it's what makes tattoos so special. You can come across the same idea and even placement of a tattoo on a person and it will still be 100% different and unique. Gingerninja
Ha. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with for my thigh. I mentioned chrysanthemums and wind as additional elements. Pretty much leaving it all up to him for size, placement, colors, etc. Something tells me that this is going to me more than one session (which I'm totally with). How's your knee? @suburbanxcore I love the design. So freakin' rad. Those talons... Devious6
suburbanxcore
@Gingerninja My knee is great. Right now, he just lined it, so not too bad. Minimal swelling and next to no impact on my day to day. Grez isn't the fastest, but those lights hands, man. For painful or sensitive spots, can't beat it. I live in England and the best advice i can give you is go for it! Although i'm not sure exactly where you live so it might be a hell of a lot more expensive than it is for me, this will be my 4th trip to be tattooed by Marius and it's so worth it. Edit: Profile says you're in the States so yeah, the cost isn't really comparible. It's costing me £45 for a return flight (around 55 dollars US). In that case i feel your pain! Guero
The first (I believe) annual Pacific Northwest Tattoo Expo is being held at a casino just 30 min. from where I recently moved to, Lincoln City Oregon. I'm hoping to pick up a little arrow-head or maybe a sugar skull from Linus O'Malley, Henry Rodriguez, BD Feldman, or one of those guys. Should be a good time.
