I've been tattooed by Eric Jones, Sid Stankovits, Jef Whitehead, Scott Campbell and Mutsuo (Three Tides, Osaka) for reference to style, etc. anybody got something for me? - thanks,

Jill is a good friend of mine, just had dinner with her late last night post- Willie Nelson. I promise I would come by for a visit if you were getting work done by her, OR we could all go eat somewhere super yummy.

that sounds amazing and ill keep it in mind(or hold you to it) when im able to make the trek south.

Horimatsu/Matti Sedholm

My favorite Tradtional Japanese style artist. Does tebori, lives in Sweden. I was ready to go and get my back done by Matti but he unfortunetaly had to cancel just week before my appointment, and knowing life, havent had a change to get back (no money, bad skin problems, time etc).

He is the MAN

Anyone know of any great artists in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, North or South Dakota, or Nebraska? (im from Wyoming, but i can probably get to any of the surrounding states fairly easily, other than that it would be pretty tough.) The closest i found on the list was in AZ, Immaculate Tattoo, which looks incredible but at this point in life it would be pretty tough to get there.

Depends on what you are looking for. Immaculate is fucking awesome, and well worth what it takes to get there. I get tattooed quite a bit by Matt Arriola, and he spends a lot of time at Inkvision in Boise, Idaho. Darcy Nutt is in Boise I think. Also the Salt Lake City convention is pretty good. It just passed, but if you are willing to wait until next year I am sure that there will be plenty of great tattooers there.

The only two places I have direct experience of are-

1. The Family Business Tattoo Shop, Exmouth Market, London. Specially the owner Mo Coppoletta. IMO this is a good shop for western style, japanese style and notably it is also home to Xam, possibly the best-known tattooist in the shop. The Family Business Tattoo Shop

2. Deluxe Tattoo Chicago, specifically Chris Smith. Maybe Chris is better known as a maker of tattoo machines than as a tattooer, I'm not sure - but anyway I like his old school work and am halfway through a 'homeward bound' piece by him on my right thigh. I found Deluxe to be a very friendly, professional studio. Big open plan and a lot of good tattooists working away together - interesting place to be tattooed if nothing else.

Hey thanks bigjoe, out of interest how did you find all of those? Are they just shops/artists you happen to know of, or did you find them with some kind of search? Because i tried searching, but i ended up getting a lot of average to less than average artists.

I knew of most of the shop's just from seeing their work on myspace,or in the magazines.

I also do a google search just to see what comes up.Also you can look at yelp.com they have a list of shops in most major cities. You can also find alot of artists sites on tattoo convention websites. And i also talk to people who have tattoos and find out about new artists like that.
