In the storm of crap, sometimes it's nice to recognize the newcomers who are doing well and give us things to look forward to for the future of tattooing. Here are some tattooers who have been at it 5 years or less and are doing some really great work. Feel free to add!

All pinched from his instagram.

@cltattooing humility is a great thing, but from what I've seen, you're killing it too and should be included here. That Pharoah's Horses you posted in the tattoo of the month contest this month is a great tattoo period, not just great for a young tattooer.

@Graeme damn, Greg Whitehead is ON IT!! I am generally not a fan of the super illustrative tattooing that's happening right now, but I really like the feel of his work and would totally wear those tattoos. If your last name is Whitehead, does that mean you're automatically awesome at tattooing? Haha. And thank you! That is really kind of you to say, I appreciate it. :)

@Joe Shit Definitely loving Joseph Michael's work and Becca Gene's stuff is sweeeeet too!

I think Becca has only been tattooing for around 2yrs,and she does such nice clean work. And Joseph Michael only around 3yrs,and he also does nice clean work. And this girl is an apprentice in London, and she does really nice drawings.

Paul Aherne is a really good, young, Dublin tattooist (About the only one in the city I'd recommend to people actually).

I would hazard a guess that he's been tattooing for a bit longer than 5 years, but I think he fits the brief for this thread all the same.

He's a street shop tattooer in the sense that he seems to be able to have a stab at anything, from traditional to Japanese style to tattoo portrait.

I definitely agree. You are nailing it, Carolyn.

Richard Smith did this cool ass reaper on my thigh, and he can't be older than 25 or 26. As a 24 year old, I enjoy getting tattooed by people close to my age. When he put this on me he said he had been tattooing for two and a half years.

Now I'm going to be heartbroken about my inability to afford a plane fare to Germany...

Does she ever travel to the US?

Not that I'm aware of. I've followed her religiously on Instagram along with her website and patiently waiting for her "Kingdom of Wenramen" book to come out (I think March 2014). Might have to try and convince a shop to ask her to do a guest spot.
