Reyeslv
Interesting article from the BBC. BBC News - Sri Lanka to deport Buddha tattoo British woman MadeIndelible
Kahlan
Really feel for her.. especially after explaining that she is a practicing Buddhist, and is well traveled. Which is part of the reason I would cover myself up pretty well visiting certain countries. Not worth being jailed for something completely innocent, but at the same time stories like this paves way for a different view on tattooed culture. Or at least helps in some ways... gougetheeyes
Total bullshit but sounds like Sri Lanka's got a proven record of bullshit.. and if you're gonna travel there, you may wanna read up on said record and invest in a long sleeve t-shirt or ace bandage. idyllsend
There was a story going around not too long ago about a guy denied entry into Sri Lanka due to his buddha tattoo. The Man with the Buddha Tattoo - Robbie Bulloch I say, if you're a visitor to that country, you need to do a little research and respect their culture, full stop. deadsp0t
With their history of turning a blind eye to sex offenders, I wouldn't visit there to begin with nor would I or do I give a rats ass about their culture. idyllsend
does anyone know why exactly they are so sensitive to tattoos? i always thought that Sri Lanka was pretty liberal? I'm assuming it was the image of Buddha, not that she has a tattoo. I think this article pretty much sums it up: Why I have little sympathy for the Buddha tattoo tourist | Amantha Perera | Comment is free | theguardian.com tattooedj
