Serophelia
Hello! I'm Carol from Chile. I got an old school tattoo on my bicep. I like it but sadly it got blown out. I want to cover the blowout with shading and I would like to know if it is less possible to have blowout again if it's just shading and not lining. I would very. Much appreciate an informed opinion. SStu
My understanding is that blowouts more often result from linework. They are well hidden by shading. pidjones
Welcome, Carol. I agree with SStu that heavy linework seems to be the primary culprit in blowouts. Artist's skill and individual skin are two big factors also, I believe. SeeSea
Yup - that's how some blowout on my back was "fixed." Looks fine now. 21stNow
What is a blowout? Blowouts are the hazy ink that show around line work, from my understanding. There are images of blowouts here: https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+a+blowout+in+a+tattoo&sa=G&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ved=0CCsQsARqFQoTCNOHvZ24-scCFUYoHgodrA4GBQ Michaelshane 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/6544-is-shading-less-possible-to-cause-blowout/#findComment-119689 Share on other sites
