Is there anything I can add to make my tattoo look straighter ?

Recommended Posts

This is my first tattoo. When the tattoo artist placed the outline on me it looked straight but now when I look at it, it clearly goes downhill depending on how I am standing. I was wondering if there was something I could add under it to either make an illusion or make it look straighter.  Thanks.

what happens when both your arms are at your sides ?

because it kind of looks like your body is contorting a little with your arm up and your torso twisted a little and it may be causing the tattoo to look crooked.

It’s hard to see when my arm is completely straight down because it covers up the tattoo. But this is another picture when my arm is down. What do you think ? It still looks like it angles downhill to me.

I think it looks fine ! really ,looks good,

maybe down the road you can have it added to, for now, enjoy it, love it, show it off, and start planning your next tattoo.

even though still feeling my "remorse" it makes me laugh that you suggest planning the next tattoo :-)
seems like you're really, really into it! :8_laughing:

I agree, it's not bad at all.  It's the kind of thing that we view much more critically than anyone else.  Chances are 99 out of 100 people would never notice.

If all else fails, do what I do.  Make up some outlandish BS reason for it being that way and see if you can get them to believe it. lol

The bra line accentuates any misalignment. Either go without or find one with a lower edge of the band that runs parallel. Or grow to love it as it is.

and that's assuming the bra line is straight itself!

    • I think it looks amazing!!! I actually really really love it. Don't worry, it's easy to have tattoo remorse. Especially for bigger pieces-- really, you just need some time to adjust to the change. Hopefully soon you will start feeling it as part of yourself!
    • funny thing with me, in the 80's when I started getting tattooed, I started on my lower arms, from my biceps to my wrists first. LOL now they are everywhere on my body, actually in the last 10 years or so of getting tattooed I have been placing them in the most visible spots I can find, now running out of visible room. I'm lucky,my work is 100% good with visible tattoos and I love showing them in my work and personal life, many of my coworkers also have tattoos. I love the attention I get and conversations I have because of my tattoos.
    • Yep. It all depends on how the artist's design fits in/around your existing work.  In any case many laser techs charge by the minute (with a minimum), and both of those old ones aren't very big - so hitting the black shouldn't add much if any extra expense overall for each session. They are dark enough that you'll likely need 3-4 sessions to lighten it up a good bit.
