Overthinking

Recommended Posts

Hey anyone who reads this,

I have one tattoo so far in dark brown ink. It's on my side under my armpit (only way I know how to describe placement lol) and I don't think it has faded hardly at all in the last two years, still looks new. I really love the color on my skin. I have been looking at getting a piece on my upper thigh. I would love to get it in brown ink as well but I am here trying to get more information because I have seen some controversy in terms of how it will look, fade, and heal. I had 0 issues with my first one but being that I want all of my future pieces to be brown to match my first I want to make sure they will remain in the same good condition and color my first one has. Looking forward to learning more !

I think you have to post a few times before you can get into other forums.

cheers!

You can reply to any thread on any board. You can start new threads here. When you build up a history, then you can start new threads.

Just use search. There are no new questions under the sun here.

I have been using search but surprisingly the only things that come up are tattoos fading to brown or whether to use brown or black shading for the most part. I can't seem to find anything that talks about solid brown pieces or using brown as a main color in a piece. Still searching though!

Tattoos fade eventually. Some faster, some slower; there are a lot of different factors involved. The chances of having a lot of tattoos the exact same shade of brown are practically zero. If that is your expectation you’ll be very disappointed.

I have a question about a tattoo i just recently got 2 months ago. Its on my finger and its just a letter however one line of the letter seems to be raised like scarring and when you intentionally scratch it or hit it hard enough there is a sharp pain that occurs last for a few seconds then fades. I have other tattoos but never had this problem before. Any ideas what this could be?

As mentioned, tattoos heal differently, inks are different, application is different. Think about all the various shades of black! If you want brown tattoos, go for it but they will most likely all be different (but still brown). Go for it!

    • so very sorry to hear that; it's good to be able to memorialize her in this way.
    • Hello and welcome to the forum - others will probably be along to tell you to give it some time - and I would agree  - this is a very new tattoo and you need to wait until it's fully healed to be able to have any perspective on it - give it a couple of months to fully settle in. Aftercare - I've had a couple of tattoos now and I have healed really well using Bepanthan (in small amounts) - but others will tell you (with some vigour) not to go anywhere near it. I have also healed with no ointments, herbs, spices, spells or oils at all and these have turned out equally well - so.... One piece of universal advice I think I can give is whatever you use don't use too much of it, and don't soak the tattoo (as in submerged for any length of time) in water.   - What did your tattooist recommend for aftercare?
    • Hey, I’m new here, so bear with me if I seem out of the loop of everything. I just got a tattoo (my first) tonight, and I have an inquiry. I don’t think it’s anything too serious, but I’d like to know what it is. I’ve seen pictures of blowouts, is this one? Or is it too early to tell just yet? I don’t mind it much, just curious.    And on on a side note, I’m using A+D Ointment, but I’ve just read up on some sites that it’s not good for tattoos? Should I switch, or am I safe?
