Tattoo Cover Up Pictures, Before and After

I've been looking at a lot of tattoo cover-up pictures recently and figured it'd be cool to see what cover-ups LSTers have both gotten as well as tattooed. So if you have before and after pictures please post them up.

Here's a recent one I found on Sarah Schor's Blog from King's Avenue in New York. I really like the use of the hair in this lady head to cover-up the old tattoo lettering.

For me I enjoy seeing cover-ups that could stand on their own without being a cover-up. What I mean is yes the old tattoo is not visible but had you not had to have it placed where it is you would get in anywhere and anyways.

Lets see 'em.......

I don't have any cover-ups on my body but I tattoo a hell of a lot of them.

Most of the larger work that I do (bigger than 1/2 sleeve) usually incorporates some kind of cover-up.

I started to make a point of NOT taking a 'before' picture. Sometimes I do, but I found that the cover-up requests got bigger and bigger the more cover-ups I showed. Covering a half sleeve sized tattoo with a full sleeve compromises the end product but I sometimes enjoy the challenge and the problem-solving aspect of it.

This is one of the more tricky ones from last year or so, when I used to take 'before' photos:

I got an email today asking if I could cover a full sleeve - with a sleeve.

So mine would be considered a re-work rather than a cover up... i got it re-done within one year of getting the tattoo and you'll see why...

originally done by Dave Gibson (yes THE dave gibson) and re-done by Mike Wilson

sorry for the horrid photo quality of the before, but it didn't look any better in person haha18434_313705771353_506626353_4785228_513711_n.jpg

and after

the entire experience was bad, from him (dave not mike) refusing to do the tattoo in the spot i wanted, to making sounds like an injured man after every line he pulled.. but thankfully it was fixable and you can't even tell it was a shitter at first

These are not cover ups, just reworks.

This is stuff on my left arm.

I know they aren't the best tattoos in the world (Hell, I had to draw all but one of them. That's the only way you could get custom work where I grew up back then.)

Just keep in mind I grew up in western N.C., circa 1980's, but they mean a lot to me still to this day. They are a part of who I am and I would never cover 'em up.

When I got old enough to get tattooed, the only guys tattooing were bikers. I was a skinny, long haired punk kid who didn't fit in, determined to get tattooed, so I did it.

Got my first tattoo, Feb 13th 1985, (the skull with the web and spider legs) in a friggin' biker bar... "J.B. Davis' Tattoo & Tavern" (I was WAY more scared of getting my ass kicked for going in there than getting the tattoo.)
