Tattoo Cover Up Pictures, Before and After

Recommended Posts

Yes that is correct! I had to use a different screen name, for whatever reason i could not upload these pictures under the other screen name, not sure why.

If you don't mind, could you let me know what the other screen name was so that I can investigate to make sure same thing isn't happening to other people? thanks!

i think it was about ten years old when i covered it, it was a very early darren stares portrait done in colour, the cover is probably 5 now .the guy wearing it wasnt unhappy as such with the tattoo, but 15 years ago a lot of the colour portraiture on the uk scene wasnt as heavily saturated with colour as it is now .darren is a very talented artist and i thoroughly enjoyed ripping it out of him because i had to cover his work,on discussion he did say it was unfamiliar ground at the time and he felt it was too big so he compensated by trying to give it slightly less presense.

@Iwar: At first, I scrolled down and only saw the before pic. I thought, "Um..." but then I scrolled down, haha. I think it looks great now! The heavy black and the extra leaves totally make it.

And @BILHAM: Wow! That's one helluva cover-up. Who's doing it?

My cover up went from this:

to this:

Because the original tattoo had a lot of black in it, and colours all over the place, I honestly had no idea if it would work out but figured I'd ask anyway. I am pretty farkin happy to say the least!!! (and yes that is Venom lol)

Now if only my black and blue koi had turned out like that I'd be much happier and not having to worry about my own cover up XD

That sucks! Are you doing some laser first or is it small enough to cover with another tattoo just how it is? I hope it all works out ;) (if it helps I was really really lucky, I probably should have had some laser done first but thankfully it all worked out)

HA! No I've already been told by Amber(artist) that I will have to get some laser work done to it, considering it is the entire upper half of my back.. (see pic)

@Stitch626 - yes, I see... I dont know to much about laser, but from what little I do know, by the looks of it it should really only take a few sessions to lighten it up enough for something really nice to go straight over it. There doesn't seem to be anything to solid or any shitty colours that are super hard to get rid of, such as purple. (anyone with more knowledge about these things, am I correct in saying that?) Just think, it could always be worse ;)

      Hey All,
So I am asking this question in advance, as I still have 1 inner arm peony to go - otherwise my 3/4 sleeve is finished with the background and coloring.
It is of a japanese kirin with it's face on my lower arm and legs up towards my shoulder.
I love the colors and everything in the sleeve except for a top vertical leg that sticks up.
I'm starting to think it is out of place and points at me oddly.
It's also not drawn as geometrically as the other 3 legs but I dismissed this at the stencil stage and did not tell the artist.
Is it worth lasering this leg so that the artist can redraw it?
Even though I have one peony left, i think I can more or less see how the sleeve tattoo will look like?
I am a bit bummed I am feeling this way, but has anyone else been in my position?
Have you gone for a large tattoo or sleeve, overlooked something in the stencil then sought laser down the track to redraw it?
Should laser only be reserved for worst case scenarios?

I wanna get lasered on this tattoo but I wonder if it will be worth it? Its super dark. Would it even go away completely or at all? Should I just fade for a cover up?

Post images of things and people that you find rad, gnarly, far-out or inspirational. I'll go first...  [images removed after they became broken..]

Hey guys so I jumped the gun and really wanted to start my half sleeve.  i wanted to add things to make it look more full and Well a year later I want to change some things about it but I can't think of anything that could cover the certain area up. Im happy with the main piece but under the Skelton where the sword, buckle, and bag just doesn't do it for me and want it to be changed asap. If you have any suggestions please let me know i really appreciate it!
