DaveEvans
Hi all, longtime reader, first time poster. Happy to be actually taking part in the forum! Had a question about appointment protocol. I managed to get on the list of a well known artist who I’ve been dying to get work from for years. I’ve been working with the shop manager (who is wonderful), but for some reason I’m not able to discuss the piece with the artist before paying for and traveling for my first appointment. I made it clear that I didn’t want to guide the process or throw in a laundry list or requests, rather just want to spend a few minutes hearing the artist’s view for the piece. I offered to pay for the time, as well, but no luck. Feels strange to commit to a giant projexr without even a 5 minute conversation. Anyone else ever bump into this? SStu
Hmmmm. No. My history in that situation was at least e-mail correspondence.
Dan
no I can't say that I have, pre-tattoo consultations have always been an important part of the process IMO, and yes, I for feel a consultation is a very necessary parts of the process, for the us customers AND the tattooer that's going to do the work. I think you paid all the proper respects already in what you said in your post here. ". I made it clear that I didn’t want to guide the process or throw in a laundry list or requests, rather just want to spend a few minutes hearing the artist’s view for the piece" that's perfect IMO

pidjones
It may be a disappointment, but I would look for another artist.
