  3. Buying a king size print from one of your favorite artists, getting it framed properly, hanging it on your wall and taking two steps back. I´ve been staring at the original hanging by Marius´ station for hours while getting tattooed, so when he decided to make giclee prints of it I had to rape my wallet and buy one. Stoked!

  6. Not sure if this is the place to start a thread like this (and if not, please delete). I come from the mindset that one should not share tattoo info with anyone other than peers, or the very very very few deemed worthy (meaning they are paying dues and earn it)...... However, I will be going to Nairobi on my way back to SA in January. My brother is currently residing there, and being someone that has been close to the tattoo scene for so long, he has befriended a tattooer there. I have been forewarned that he would like to buy any equipment I might be wanting to sell, and will very much like to meet me. His work is of poor quality (at least by our standards), but I haven't been able to locate anything I would consider high quality there...... So, my question, I guess, is; how do other professionals on here feel about traveling to, and interacting with cultures that are still so behind in the tattoo world?

  7. I think I went almost a year.. (douchbag ex to blame) But now, I think I've gone at least once a month for the last two years. I only missed 2 months so far. Made up for it last month, went twice for the Banshee on my arm

    Hello from Brazil!

What's up dude! Best advice I can give you is to first find either a particular person you want to get tattooed by, or what's easier, a reputable shop. And then talk to whoever is doing the tattoo and they'll help you with the details. (Unfortunately, I don't know much about tattooers in Brazil..) Good luck!

    First tattoo

My first was done when I was 18 by a guy who had no reputation other than being an airbrush artist and tattooed as well. Real old school shit (not the best quality sadly) but I didn't know any better and didn't look around, handed him a reference and said I want a half sleeve. Thankfully he only did the front half, but unfortunately it was shit quality with heavy purple that was hard to rework. It's been reworked by another guy and connected to the inner bicep and looks bearable, but the purple was too hard to rework so it's still obvious to me. The anatomys a little off too, but whatever you live and learn. Side note: in 7th grade me and a friend thought it'd be cool carve " I (heart) (girlfriends name)" into our skin. Mines on my hand, it's barely visible, but it makes me laugh. I'm still close friends with that girl too. Man, we were (are) retarded.

  26. Well, I guess I will take the first shot at it. Personally, I feel that if cultures didn't share their art with one another, we would still be drawing on cave walls with sticks and berries. There are still tribes in the rain forest hand poking tattoos with bamboo, because that is all they know. But, instead of just selling him some set up and cutting him loose, examine him as a person and as an artist to decide if his heart is true to the art, and deserving of what we have all worked so hard for. (some more than others. lol) And if so, give him guidance, not just tools. Remember, tattooing didn't start in the US, it started in other countries and by other cultures, because of their sharing we, as tattooers, can do what we love and respect. I hope I didn't piss too many people off, lol.

  27. Last time: November 5th,2011. Next time: possibly the Star of Texas convention in January. I'm saving for an engagement ring, so I have to prioritize and ignore '"the itch" for awhile.

  28. just had my last appt (of 4) on my upper right arm/shoulder on friday. before that was two sessions on the upper left in January-February (started in August, so 6 months between). Before that was 38 years of nothing. Next appt will probably be next Fall. take some time to think about what to do next (already have some ideas) and give my wife time to get used to the two large tattoos I got this year before I get another

  30. Last time getting tattooed for me was end of August this year... and in less than 3 weeks time I'll be back in Japan getting the sleeve finished ;) (and y'all can bet your collective asses I'm excited!)

  31. My longest absence was also 20 years and like you I've gone crazy. I've always said "if you want to be a bear... Be a Grizzly!!". I've completed a full sleeve on my right arm and that includes the chest plate. My left arm is almost halfway cover with an upper and forearm piece. Tomorrow I start my back and that will be a full Backpiece and will end below my waist. I look at tattooers websites all the time. Luckily, I've been traveling for most of the work so there is a waiting period. Otherwise I would most likely be all covered.

  32. I went twenty years, then this year I've gone crazy. Seven since June, one being a full sleeve (still working on it). Next appointment - this Sunday.

  35. I've sat for any where from 15 mins up to 6 and a half hours.. which that last one absolutely sucked. The 15 min one was just to finish the outline on my chest piece, and the 6.5 hour one was for my leg, which was the worse, my artist kept waking me up to have me either roll over or move my leg.
