I think they already have. I mean flash sets have gone way down in price. But to be fair a lot of that is the customer wanting a custom design. Buying a sheet of flash with liners with designs for $100- $200, knowing the first time you sell a design it pays for itself and may even make you money seems like a no brainer. Now you buy a set of 5 sheets for $100 because it's reference or maybe decoration or you don't buy it at all and you just draw your own version. A lot of flash is very heavily influenced (to say the least) by designs that have already been done, and there is nothing wrong with that in my mind, but like you said a lot of customers expect a tattoo for them and aren't just going to pick off the flash sheets. I am not one of those customers and would have no problem being blindfolded and forced to pick out a design off the wall.

Thought this one was cool. I still think tiger head hand tattoos look great for some reason.

it's not even like she copied some flash, she traced actual paintings people were selling prints of at that same convention. She also seems to have printed out photos of people tattoos and traced those. You put out a flash book specifically to be copied in a way, straight up tracing and selling is still wrong but flash is flash. To go to the extent of finding pictures of paintings and actual tattoos, size them up, print them out, trace them, put it all together in a book. If she's put that much work into her own drawings they probably wouldn't be that bad.

Fuck that bitch. She straight up traced people's work and called it her own. Just 'cause she's a girl doesn't mean she can't have her fingers broken too.

Signed up here after hearing that Nick Colella had posted a few pix of old tats of mine. Looked around, saw lotsa good stuff, and thought I'd stick around and maybe throw in my two cents now n then, so feel free to flame! I put my first tat on myself when I was 12, I'm 57 now, and it hasn't stopped. I did a good bit of old-skool hand-needle jailhouse stuff way back in the day, and most of the work I have now covers old jailhouse pieces. What else can I say? I like to visit and watch at other parlors, but I get all chauvinistic and shit about who tattoos me...I've never gotten a professional piece anywhere but at Chicago Tattooing, and I can't see that changing now. I first went in there to gawk, man, mabye around 1966, 1967, something like that, and got my first electric tattoo done in there by Dale Grande in something like 1973 or 1974. That's me-hope to get to know some of y'all.

I think it went pretty close to right. B tat and Jeremy clearly had major technical flaws and that even being a nice guy can't correct. Bili and Al both equally gigantic douchebags but Bili can at least tattoo in his own specialized style (which I have no use for), Al just sucks all around so he had to go first. If it was just a douchebag contest it might have went down different. So Bili probably should have gone next, but Heather did such horrible tattoos in general, but especially the firehat and bought one more week for him. Leah and Bili both didn't do very well in the traditional challenge, but Leah had two strong tattoos in a row and i think has shown much more versatility in style,but ultimately will probably go next unless someone really screws up a challenge.

My thumbs....both tattooed by Dave Kruseman....no fall out on either......they are in there for good! And yes....that shit hurt!

Definitely-once I know what I want, let's do it =) I think out of the tattoos I have, only two of them have been changed in minor ways (lettering on one, a hand in another) from what the artist originally drew up. I'm not going in there to play art director.

the body art expo is one of the biggest pile of shit conventions there is. scratcher fest. do not ever support this event in any city or you are supporting the enemy of quality tattooing.

Hello All. I browsed this forum this morning over a few cups of last night's coffee before heading to the studio, and I really gotta say that I am grooving on this site. I am usually not "into" the whole forum-wagon-thingy...but I admit that I am liking what I am seeing. (level headed feel and direction) Now ...ahem...me. I am an artist/ shop manager at Uncle Bud's Pikes Peak Tattoo in Colorado Springs. (Pikes Peak Tattoo Home Page) I was a long time friend of Uncle Bud's before he passed away and I am honored to continue to keep his shop open. A small bit of history: Uncle Bud Yates opened his own shop 1982 when he broke away from working with his brother Snake Yates. Bud was a tireless devotee to legitimizing tattooing back in the days when there were no hard and fast rules concerning tattooing or its regulation. At that time, a handfull of artists existed nationwide...and it was a time for a lot of those artists to get active with their craft. With some states outright BANNING tattooing as a health risk, Bud and others started to work with local government and health offices to protect the work that we all now enjoy. I am pleased as punch to say that 99% of the existant laws and regulations concerning tattooing in Colorado were drafted by Bud Yates and that the studio I work in is still an active force in maintaining tattooing as a safe and legitamate business. Before his untimely passing, Uncle Bud was El Presidente (President) of The National Tattoo Association. Yep, I totally loved that man, I I respect what he has done for Tattooing. On to other news: I love/hate being a shop manager. Damn monkeys drive me nuts. I have seen a whole roster of names come and go through that shop, I have laughed so hard sometimes that I couldn't breathe and I have gotten so angry other times that I coulda killed a man. My current lineup (some of which are not on the shops website) is a pretty good crew so far. I am looking forward to seeing them all most mornings...to date. Hi-lights of my short career (6 years behind the machine): I worked with Shanghai Kate for about a year. I kept my trap shut and kept myself out of her personal affairs. I kinda dig her. I smuggled Zeke Owen out of a party and bandaged his dog's foot. I was successful in keeping an original Milton Zeis Malleable from disappearing into the leathery folds of Lyle Tuttles hands while hs machine lust filled eyes gleamed and he made hungry grunts deep in his chest. (I will never give that machine up...ever) I am gunna marry "My Girl" Nikki Pettis in August. Not only do I find her crazy attractive, but I admire her tattooing as well. I have managed to not sink my friends studio through the last 6 years of economic hard times and a boom in(cough-cough) studio openings. Anywhooo...I ramble. Last night's coffee tastes horrible but it will put the rush on.

It turns out my pale, somewhat flabby chest is a bit more tender than I thought. I punked out at 2 hours in. He's pretty close to me so I decided another session was favorable to an additional hour of pain at the time. Hopefully will get it finished this next weekend. Oh yeah, I went with a skull, and I'm very happy. Thanks for all the help folks!

Gentleman Jack is quite smooth but my go to is always: Jim beam in a 350 bottle so i can drink it in public, because i love America. I've been drinking less of it for a month or so after i forgot to eat all day, finished the bottle at 8, got lost in my neighbors attic, then woke up on my couch the next day and realized i lost a fight. And if i didn't lose i feel bad for the other guy cause it was pretty rough.

Kev if your looking to gain muscle I suggest you train like a power-builder ,this is how the biggest dudes do it.Looking at your programme the isolation or shaping movements are treated to low reps max 6 which is ineffective for these areas which respond to high reps .Calves for example don't even wake up at less than 20 reps unless you already have cows on the back of your legs .Hit your compound lifts like a power-lifter but train your isolation or shaping exercises like a body-builder strict n slow and not always to failure.Lighten the weights and get the blood in that area .

Chad and I shot the breeze for 3 hours planning the tattoo he's doing on my stomach, and another handful of emails to get it right; and it's a black panther. He's willing to put the time in to make sure you get what you want; and you're going to walk out of there with an honest tattoo. May not be exactly what you had in mind, but thats the great part about running it through another person; the marriage of your idea and their execution making something that you may not have pictured but is exactly what you need.

So you got family friendly tattoos but want a non-family friendly tattoo that says you don't like how tattoos are now family friendly? Just get what you like dude and don't worry about hipsters or hippies or whoever. Stick with something you identify with and you can't lose, everyone else be damned. (Apologies if this came off extra cranky, long day yesterday.)

I kinda only like getting tattooed by Fast tattooers. It's efficiency. Take your time with the drawing, then bust that tat out. I personally think it says a lot about a tattooer that can tattoo Good, and fast. It's like Illegal graffiti writers versus permission wall guys. One is working on the fly with the cops possibly breathing down their neck. One is taking his sweet time, looking at his sketchbook. That raw, real shit is always gonna be king in my book. Anyway. haven't seen the show. But I like the time limit thing. It will separate the hustlers from the fartists.

There's a guy in SF named Maron Hasegawa. He had full sleeves from Colin Stevens, then decided he wanted a full suit. He flew to Japan and, in one year, got fully suited by Horiyoshi III: It's not shown in those pics, but it goes down to his ankles. Donburi style, as they say in Japan. I think he got tattooed every other day for a year. Just think about that for a minute. I had the pleasure of meeting Maron at Diamond Club a few years back, and I asked him a similar question: does it feel weird to be [/i]done[/i]? He seemed to imply that it was. He said he asked Horiyoshi about tattooing his head, to which the master replied, "Nah...you're done." There's also a guy in one of Horitaka's books who has a full 9-dragon body suit that Horiyoshi did in a year and a half. It's everything but the strip down the center of his chest ("river style"), and the whole thing--neck to ankles, full sleeves--is black and gray. I think about that guy from time to time, because it's insane to me to think that someone went 30+ years without a drop of ink, then made the huge decision to get fully suited. I just can't get my head around it. As I alluded to in the Collecting Different Styles thread, I'm really happy with what I've got, but it's all over the place. The thought of having a full cohesive body suit is absolutely foreign to me.
