  2. I spent my Saturday afternoon with Jeff Zuck, finishing up the black in my backpiece. It was a fantastic experience as always. Jeff is one of the nicest, raddest dudes I've had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the tattoo world. With the exception of a few spots, shading the butt wasn't as bad as I had psyched myself up for. A close friend of mine got a really awesome fox/owl totem from Jen Munford at the same time (it's up on her IG @threejenbirdmun). Needless to say, my (very pregnant) fiancee spent the afternoon being real jealous.

It's on Todd Noble. He saw my Grime tattoo and said "that's sweet, but mine's better" and pulled off his shirt.

Some parts are still raw in the picture. The back of my arm is a cover up of some shitty script... The artist is Tim Morris at A Brand New Tattoo in Eau Claire, WI. I am honored to be friends with him. He is an amazing person and really solid tattooer.

    hello!

Welcome to the site and thanks for joining.....first I would in the most polite way possible over the internet suggest finding a new tattooer. You've got lots of space and some prime spots open so fill them with amazing tattoos that will stay and look good years down the line. Where are you located so we can suggest some places? That's my advice. Many of us start with not so good tattoos though we learn and get better ones then they become that much more fun to get and see.

  20. I feel sorry for those who go to a shop and still get a shitty tattoo. I would like to blame all the people tattooing out of their house for shitty tattoos, but realistically they still only represent a small portion of bad tattoos done. On a slightly related note, I poked around the ads on craigslist portland today and found that many of these people offering cheap tattoos either aren't bad or are posting pictures of others people's work to trick people which is probably the case as their seem to be some difference in approach that don't add up. Tattoo Tattoo Tattoo Tattoo Tattoo great tattoos here Now here's a shop located on probably the busiest intersection in the the most hipster neighborhood in portland, been there for years cranking out shitty work and their are three other shops on that street who's work is comparable. jesse's tattoos | Facebook Picking between the fake portfolio of the craigslist guy or the shop that clearly doesn't know what they are doing? I can see how people would rather go with people off craigslist who they don't realize are fake vs shops like these.

  24. Chris Garver does killer snakes. I met Frank Romano at the Seattle Convention about three years ago, and he has an awesome cobra that Chris did on his stomach. And the one he did on Tim Hendricks is bad as shit as well.

  29. Got my little leopard head from Ross Nagle at the London convention on Saturday. Top, top guy and a great tattooer. Terrible pic of my badly swollen inner elbow - the faded black above the head is from an old tattoo that will more than likely be covered at some point. Oh and apologies if the picture is huge, think i should have gone for 'medium' rather than 'large'

  34. Yeah, Da Wei is here in the Bay Area. I've always wondered if he had any tattoos. As for his work, it's good--if you're into that sort of thing. I'll defer to Bob Roberts, who says that wildlife realism tattoos are like taxidermy.

  35. Well, after reading all these... I'm not set in an opinion but I do think that the magazines serve a purpose other then jack mags... It's like this... The shops that I have been in, 3 out of 5 of them are badass, it's like no matter what these dudes are gonna do whatever the fuck they wanna do, and if you can't deal with the decor, and remove said stick from ass, then get the fuck out... If you can't take looking at a photo of penetration, (in certain shops) you may want to rethink what you're doing in the shop in the first place... Tattooing itself is an intimate affair, getting penetrated by needles, using lube and vibrating devices, while the rubber glove offers a barrier interpersonally, you're still trusting someone to poke you over and over, and unlike sex, the final result is permanent. And it's not my shop, as we kept such things under wraps... And we'll continue that practice I'm sure in the future...

Very disappointed with season 5. that was absurd. season 6 was kind of a saving grace but was still like meh for me at least. I had to enjoy the series again by watching 1,2 and 4 for a second time. Trinity ftw.

  38. @Brock Varty Having been also a strong subscriber to the Heavy Duty school of thought GVT was completely foreign to me . However as I was trying a more strength / power type approach I needed some way to allow my lower back full recovery from both heavy squats and deads in the same week and after lifting close on 25 years consider my joints and the possibility of injury whilst freshening up my CNS . Now I'm of the opinion that legs respond not to low numbers but high reps so naturally I would implement this programme on my leg day .Heres the kicker , after humble beginnings and six weeks of GVT I've made more strength gains in my 6 rep squat than on any conventional lifting programme i.e 5,3,1 ,linear periodization etc,etc .It not surprising that this is an off-season favourite of weightlifters worldwide and also my weight has stayed constant which for me is great cause I'm not after hypertrophy .

  40. @Jack He is so fast but amazingly not particularly heavy handed. Before he got into tattooing he was a graffiti artist. As such he needed to work quickly so as not to get caught by the police or blatted by a train. He's carried that speed over into his tattooing. Deno told me his apprentice was also a graffiti artist and is also pretty quick. - - - Updated - - - You're welcome. I didn't find the kneecap too bad either. My biggest worry is my leg getting the shakes but it behaved itself yesterday.

  41. Now that is a killer snake! As far as scales vs no-scales, I love em both. In my opinion it gives a very different look to the whole tattoo. I got a scale-less snake and its awesome, when I go for a bigger piece I want to get a scaled cobra somewhere (ribs maybe?)

  45. THIS. If every space you ever enter in life has to be completely culturally sterilized and cannot possibly offend any one of the billions of people on this planet then you would live a very boring life. Let there be some differences and if they're not to your taste, simply don't open the magazines, don't eat the food, etc. Different strokes for different folks. Side note: I'm sure not every tattoo artist has an end goal of opening themselves to the largest possible customer base and making as much money as possible. Some people (not just tattoo artists) want to do their own thing how they want to do it-- and if it doesn't completely traumatize other people I don't see the harm in allowing them to live their life as they choose. Their choice does not have to affect you. Just don't open the magazine and your own life will continue on your own way.

  46. There are usually Playboys in the stack of magazines in the waiting area of the local shop I go to. I guess I noticed, but it doesn't put me off. I teach dirty poetry for a living, not much phases me.

  47. I don't like the look of having magazines in the lobby of any kind and certainly no television. Sure we all like naked ladies and that is why we paint sheets of them and hang them on the wall. I want people to come in and get tattooed not look at the latest issue of some shitty magazine or to watch cable. I would agree with the attitude of doing whatever you want in your shop, after all it is a tattoo shop. Just because some soccer mom comes in with her kid to get some tattoo doesn't' mean i won't drop f bombs or change the subject of my conversation. There is beer in the fridge and the music is always loud deal with it.
