  1. I spent my Saturday afternoon with Jeff Zuck, finishing up the black in my backpiece. It was a fantastic experience as always. Jeff is one of the nicest, raddest dudes I've had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the tattoo world. With the exception of a few spots, shading the butt wasn't as bad as I had psyched myself up for. A close friend of mine got a really awesome fox/owl totem from Jen Munford at the same time (it's up on her IG @threejenbirdmun). Needless to say, my (very pregnant) fiancee spent the afternoon being real jealous.

that's not even going to make a good tattoo from the sound/looks of it. do what people are telling you to do; go to a local artist you like and they will draw a tattoo for you.

Trevor McStay at Dynamic, for starters. Instead of finding a design you like, take the idea to a tattooer or a shop you think you might be into and let them come up with something.

Buying tattoo designs online is a scam. Do what everyone else here has said and find someone who makes Japanese tattoos that you really like and describe what you liked about that design to them. You'll end up with a way better tattoo than if you brought in a design that you're married to (which may not make a good tattoo at all) because you paid for it. Don't be afraid to make a long trip...I routinely drive 8+ hours round trip to get my back worked on, and have driven a lot more than that and crossed borders to get tattooed by people I dig. Tattoo road trips are a blast.

Snakes! Love 'em so much. Maybe too much. I have three, and I'm really trying to stop. One on my back by Jill Bonny, one on my elbow by Scott Sylvia and the aforementioned weirdo battle royale by Jeff Rassier:

  23. Got my little leopard head from Ross Nagle at the London convention on Saturday. Top, top guy and a great tattooer. Terrible pic of my badly swollen inner elbow - the faded black above the head is from an old tattoo that will more than likely be covered at some point. Oh and apologies if the picture is huge, think i should have gone for 'medium' rather than 'large'

I think you really should go to a shop. You do realize that part of what you are paying for is to have a real live artist draw up whatever your brain can think of. On top of that they will have to "redraw" the tattoo at least once (think they are "drawing" the tattoo on you", otherwise to tracing paper then to your skin). Getting ideas from online is not a bad idea. You can hone in on an idea that you like (for example, looking up a bunch of dragons). You can print out some references to bring to your artist so you can visualize what what you were thinking. Remember images sometimes look killer on paper but you are not a piece of paper. You are an organic, moving, not even close to flat, pre-colored (skin tone) object. Your artist will take all of this into account with your provided reference material to give you a killer tattoo.

  26. The first time i was lasered it was by a doctor. The four other tattoos were lasered by tattooers who were trained with the laser. The doctor charged more than double of what the tattooers charged. You should call some tattoo shops in your area, and ask if they know of a good laser technician. I heard good things about Dallas Tattoo Removal I was talking with this tattooer at a convention last year, and he said he got good results from this place in Houston. I know what you meant bro I just went off on a tangent about that guy calling William out because it annoyed me he tagged grime and noble on that cobra piece. I guess not everybody is as educated as us guys but they should just shut up and keep there comments to themselves.

    Dexter

We just watched the season premier last night. I'm pretty excited to see where it goes. There really haven't been any seasons that I didn't like, though I thought 3 was the weakest and 4 the best. I personally really liked season 5, though that may have been somewhat influenced by my childhood crush on Julia Stiles. But after 6 seasons, something definitely needed to happen to shake shit up, and without giving out any spoilers for anyone who didn't see the end of last season, I'm really hoping that the new "discovery" will do just that.

    Dexter

Huge Dexter fan, loved the first 4 seasons (4 in particular, John Lithgow was incredible) but i agree that seasons 5 and 6 have been relatively weak (up until the finale of 6!). Watched the 1st episode of the new season and thought it was a huge return to form, can only hope they manage to sustain such a high level.

  36. Hey LST, Thought I would post this here first: I have a massive (approx 10') Grindhouse canvas poster I acquired while working at a movie theater in my younger years and am looking at selling it to someone in the Bay Area. It has both Death Proof and Planet Terror sides with Rose Mcgowan (big ol boobies) and the Death Proof side has Russel along with all the ladies from the film. Its in great condition. If anyone wants it, PM me. Thanks. dcostello

    hello!

Welcome to the site and thanks for joining.....first I would in the most polite way possible over the internet suggest finding a new tattooer. You've got lots of space and some prime spots open so fill them with amazing tattoos that will stay and look good years down the line. Where are you located so we can suggest some places? That's my advice. Many of us start with not so good tattoos though we learn and get better ones then they become that much more fun to get and see.

  41. Had the best time at the London Tattoo Convention this weekend @Jade1959 got a couple of great lady head tattoos from Lina Stigson & Mary Joy. I got tattooed by Deno on the Sunday. It was his last appointment of the convention @6pm. He was running a bit late. At 5:45 I saw him putting a stencil on a girls lower leg and I thought no way is he going to get that tattoo done and mine before the convention closed at 8pm. At 6:40 he had finished the girls tattoo and I was ushered over. Deno freehanded the skull on my knee and by 7:30 we were done. Boy is he fast. Deno banger on kneecap.

  43. I realize tat tattoos have become more "culturally acceptable" in the past decade or so, but it drives me insane when kids from the suburbs come in looking to get a neck/hand/face tattoo without having any other work... Seems like everyone wants the "warped tour" sleeves these days. Wrist to fingers. Drives me nuts.

  45. Just back from two days under the needle. The artist was Ching, from Taiwan (as you can probably see from his watermarking of the photos). He's guesting at White Dragon Tattoo in Belfast along with his buddy Yang. Got to do the left arm when they come back next year... photo hosting photo hosting Overall a not bad couple of days. The outline and black background was relatively straightforward (on Monday). Yesterday ended up taking 7-8 hours, I think underestimated how much detail was involved in the buddha and hannya details.
