I've been waiting to get tattooed by Xam for a long time now, pretty sure I'm getting towards the top of his list - excited about getting a skull and snake from him.

so i just booked a hotel for san fransisco for my birthday in december, my gf is getting tattooed by michael bennett, wants some blackwork, thomas hooperesque tattoo and im getting tattooed by stuart cripwell. im going to try and swing a walk-in at blackheart because were staying a few blocks away at the whitcomb hotel.

Funny if I want to find source material for a tattoo the last thing I would look at is some bullshit flash web site. Most of the stuff is drawn on the computer and isn't even tattooable, not to mention the designs are horrible. I usually find non tattoo related reference if I am looking to get a tattoo drawn for me. If I want a particular bird or flower tattooed on me, I would find a book that has some good illustrations or photographs of them, or maybe just run the idea by the tattooer see if they already have the necessary reference material or even need it. Paying for a tattoo design on the internet is about as stupid as paying for porn on the internet.

ok, this might sound like I'm a prick. (once again.)(the first time i was being a prick though, lol) Anyway, maybe, you should put this in a thread about tattoos that you don't care for. These examples you've given seem to be solid tattoos. I don't really care for the style, but as for the technical ability of these artist, I feel it is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum as the artists that were originally posted in this thread. Just a thought.

Gonna mention Owen Williams. Excellent at jap stuff, and a well-rounded tattooer for sure. I'd get something from him if I was able to/still had enough room left. Owen Williams and Trevor of course. That's a no-brainer win.

@CultExciter I firmly believe we need to disagree to move things forward though we need to disagree in a manner that is respectful and productive not stuck in a win/loss mentality. Or a my way or the highway pathology. Negotiation and the ability to have a difficult conversation are life skills that are very attractive. The ability to keep ones cool and sit in the uncomfortableness of difference knowing the other is not attacking you so calm your anxiety and realize we've all got lacks. No need to push your agenda but please do tell me about it. Just my general thoughts

I'm a fan of politics, talk them everyday, and they impact my work though we should probably stay away from politics as much as possible on this tattoo forum. We have seen the most minor stuff set someone off and the forum moves from its purpose. Unfortunately this thread would probably end up getting heated, then the most traffic though people will say they hate drama, and tattoos will get neglected

The only place where I thought I could go to not talk politics. I am not opposed to it necessarily, I just assumed their was something implied that we just didn't talk about it, cause up to this point we haven't.

Finally uploaded a few of my tattoos to my gallery so here's my favourite, my foxy lady head by the very talented Valerie Vargas.

I have recently become obsessed with this sheet of E.C. Kidd flash (from 1912! 100 years old!!!) which I believe is from the Hardy book Flash from the Past, and am very seriously considering getting one of the beautiful dragons off of it. Love love love everything about them.

I think some of those are pretty well done from a technical standpoint. Different style? Yes it is. I saw an Uncle Allen piece up there, and I personally would get something by him.

A really rad personal trainer here in Philly who is also (very heavily) tattooed just wrote a nice piece on fitness for tattoo artists for OV- We're shooting video for it tomorrow. Really rad; goes well with the piece @DavidBruehl wrote on tattoo nutrition.

Just tell him to go to Frith Street, they have someone for every style. I mean you really won't know what would work best until you can look the area and existing tattoo, which is hard to do in a picture, but with the talent they have there I don't see any reason to go anywhere else. PS tattoo looks fine, sounds like he just wants an excuse to get more tattoos.

As a few stated...no politics seems like a good idea. Even the two most logical people can lose their shit when it comes to politics. Nobody ever admits they could be wrong and everyone feels like who they support is the best. I do have a clear political preference and it closely follows my internal beliefs.

Since my last post on this thread I had the lower inside of my leg tattooed. I'ts right what you say about the pain. I only started to experience bad pain a day or two after the tattoo. It was so bad I took three half days off work and that was four days after the tattoo. I was told that as you get older you experience more swelling and pain in lower leg tattoos. It's to do with the circulation in your legs not being quite as good. That feeling when you get out of bed and stand up. Horrible.

I'm gonna be a rebel and tell you to get a panther head with a knife through it. That'll be your best bet. ever.

I'm healing up from session 11 on my back, courtesy of Jay Cavna. Been waiting a year now to get that boar's head colored in and finally it happened. The end's in sight; should have the whole thing wrapped up by Xmas time.

I got my last one a couple of days ago from Alvaro Llorar, who is now working out of Barcelona Electric Tattoo (in Barcelona, obviously). Awesome work, very creative and a good balance of different styles. His paintings are unreal too. Clicking on his name links you to his blog, but it hasn't been updated in months, I guess his FB has more recent stuff.
