  3. Just got back from Cali and these are my souvenirs. Candle and coffin by Scott Sylvia and a little California black and gray skull rose by Freddy Corbin. The tattoos speak for themselves and I don't have enough time to tell ya how awesome of human beings these guys are.

    Old tattoo photos

This one came into our shop in San Antonio the other day. Said it was done in Connecticut around 1985. Could not remember the shop name or tattooer's name. Also... Have you guys checked out @vintage_tattoos on Instagram? It's run by 2 english dudes so there's a lot of english stuff but if you tag them in an old tattoo they repost it. It's pretty bitchin' - - - Updated - - - Don't know why that uploaded sideways... Oh well. - - - Updated - - - Met this guy outside of my old apartment here in San Antonio... I had a bunch of pictures of him... But they're not on my phone anymore... Ill try to see if I can find them on my computer.

Final sitting on my left arm sleeve with Mo Coppoletta (TFB) in August, and booked in for another two days in Tokyo for work on my front by Tomo (Yellow Blaze). That's November... going to be a flying visit. When these are done it's the last of the big work for me, I'm going to fill in what's left in one-shot tattoos that I ration out :) Not been posting much because I've been busy with work, moving house and getting married (18 days away). Still lurking though...!

  13. The price of gas to go to Chicago vs plane ticket to NY, not that much of a difference, but what I always do is plan a vacation around my tattoo, so that it's not like i'm flying somewhere to get tattooed, I am getting tattooed while on vacation. If it's that important for you to get this tattoo it's worth the extra money. Tattoos - Daniel Trocchio Daniel Albrigo I think if you can't book Hooper, you go to New York and see someone at Three Kings or John Sultana at saved. But NY seems to be the common thread. Edit; I guess I should throw this out there, there are quite a few capable tattooers in Chicago that might be able to do your tattoo, but it may not be what they normally do. Mario Desa comes to mind, don't know if he would be up to it, but he seems like the kind of guy who prides himself on being able to do all styles even though he specializes in his own. If someone walked in the door of our shop and wanted something geometric, they would walk out with a well done tattoo, even though that's not what we normally do. In either case if you don't ask you will never know.

  22. Just got back from a trip to the Bay area and my appointment with Freddy. Ya'll were right! Awesome shop, awesome tattoo, and awesome dude, and not just Freddy but everyone there. I would highly recommend getting tattooed at Temple or just meeting Freddy if you ever get the chance.

  26. As SStu said, they are high profile because they are so good at what they do. So, no, that shouldn't intimidate you! This will be on your skin for the rest of your life... It is worth it to pay more. Save up. I am a public school teacher and I am starting to acquire better tattoos than some of these millionaire celebrities out there. It ain't because I'm rich, it's because I have good taste ;). And yes, you can estimate the cost. When you start contacting artists to see if they will do your tattoo, ask how much they charge. They will usually quote you their hourly rate. Then, you can ask approximately how many hours they think the tattoo will take. They might not know exactly, but you could get a ballpark idea. Good luck!

    Upcoming Tattoos

I just posted this in my initiation thread, but I'm getting tattooed by Grez at King's Avenue in September. That'll be my first time at that shop and by him, and I can't wait. I've loved his stuff for a while, but finally took the plunge. Between that and buying a house, my tattoo budget is pretty minimal right now. I'm looking to get in with one of a few people I have in mind at the Richmond Convention in November and then Brian Bruno at Absolute Art in early 2014.

Done by Horinao at The CatClaw Tattoo-Z Kyoto. Believe it or not this was just under 10 hours of tattooing in 2 days (6 first,4 second). So many damn lines!! Its based on one of Kuniyoshi's Suikoden prints - Tameijiro Dan Shogu Some parts didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as I thought then others killed. Granted it was just the outline though ;) - - - Updated - - - And my tattoo has a tattoo, fuck yes.

  42. Excellent thread! I love, love, love Temple. I've been tattooed there by Freddy and Heath Preheim, and my wife has been tattooed there by Freddy, Heath and Jamie Ruth. We've also stopped by to see other friends get tattooed, or just to visit with Freddy when we're in the neighborhood. Those of you have been tattooed there know that things run on a slightly looser schedule, but it's all part of Temple's charm. Just sit back, soak up some great stories and enjoy your small place in tattoo history.
