  1. I just got this butterfly to hopefully take some attention off the mistake below and fill the empty space in the front. Bugged me that looking at myself head-on I only saw red balls. I did this as a walk-in on the spur of the moment.

    Nina needs Advice !

If it were me, I might leave the words off entirely and just go with the image. *You* know what the image represents to you. It will hold the same meaning whether the words are written on you or not. And that way you won't have to deal with strangers inches away from your skin reading it all the time... that would freak me out.

  11. Finally have a new finished piece to enter the contest! Not expecting to win, but it's a good way to show off my finished tattoo by Kore Flatmo! The pictures were taken in May by Kore when we finished up. Yay! :D

  12. Hard to follow that! Struggled attempting to paint this, any constructive criticism appreciated, snakes are hard to do. The pic is not the best with some glare etc.

  13. This clearly won't win, judging from the awesome work already posted this month, but I'm still stoked on it. By Freehand Rob at Your Moms Favorite Tattoo Parlor, Sheridan Wyoming Also, sorry the picture is terrible, I suck with technology, and it's only a few hours old so it's a bit oozy and swollen.

    Greetings from Texas!

Yelllllller! My name is Alex Kass and I am a tattooer in San Antonio, texas. I work at a shop called electric panther tattoo. I enjoy tattooing, tattoo history, creating happiness in people through tattooing, a little bit of painting, tacos, sign painting, and other semi-related things. I've actually had an account since 2010 but I've been pretty absent from the forum for the most part. I have watched a whole Mess of the interviews that Scott puts up here and they are great. It is my goal in life to be the best me that I can be, do the best job I can, and have as much fun as possible without harming anyone. Obviously nobody's perfect but I still try to do my best. My purpose of reading this forum is to understand different people's perspectives, whether it be tattooers or clients. Please feel free to talk to me anytime, inbox me or whatever. Hope y'all are doing well and ill talk to you soon!

  20. I recently found a place on the south side of San Antonio called rolando's super tacos... I am now eating there weekly even though it's on the complete opposite side of town. Here are some photos from this taco joint... Not only are these things huge but they also taste incredible! We were also so pumped we got super taco tattoos. My friend Greg was visiting from Lancaster so he and I traded and then my ollady and buddy got one too. Cheers!

    Hey everyone!

Hi @InkedAshleigh, tattoos in general once meant you were "that kind of girl" to some people but screw all of that. That seems like a great place for a tattoo to me. Which spots aren't common? I have tattoos on my arms, upper back/shoulder, one on my stomach. All the spots are common. Don't regret that placement, life is short. Somebody came up with that stupid name and it caught on because it rhymed. People are dumb.

  24. Our daughter told us we couldn't get the one with the skull on it. "No skulls!", she announced. We got it anyway. Bad parents. If it really freaks her out, we may have to put it aside for a bit until she grows out of this phase. @DJDeepFried was all, "But look honey, it's smiling, it's not scary, it's a cute happy skull!" Still no dice.

  27. Hello Bud... That is all you can do in life, and try to be the best that you can.... I think it is great you want to be the best for people. One thing from a client perspective, be honest!! always.... Why I say that is some tat artist will do jobs even when they know in the end the client will regret it down the road. If you think it is a bad idea on the front end tell them... if they still want to do it then it is on them.

    Old tattoo photos

This one came into our shop in San Antonio the other day. Said it was done in Connecticut around 1985. Could not remember the shop name or tattooer's name. Also... Have you guys checked out @vintage_tattoos on Instagram? It's run by 2 english dudes so there's a lot of english stuff but if you tag them in an old tattoo they repost it. It's pretty bitchin' - - - Updated - - - Don't know why that uploaded sideways... Oh well. - - - Updated - - - Met this guy outside of my old apartment here in San Antonio... I had a bunch of pictures of him... But they're not on my phone anymore... Ill try to see if I can find them on my computer.

This newest one in particular is gorgeous. @youthcrewalex love it, especially the shading on the horse. Total win!! She decided that she wants to wait until she gets back to Denver to get her first tattoo so that she can have Marie Sena do it :D Hooray!!

    How about an art show?

Wauw, there are some truly amazing artwork in this thread - wish I was able to draw cool stuff like that.. I've always drawn realistic stuff (or tried to, anyway), but now I'm trying to find my own style and just do a bunch of different non-realistic drawings.. Here's a mix of what I've drawn this year.. A realistic portrait done with pencils, a coloured portrait and a tattoo machine done with prisma color pencils and two unfinished designs just to try to improve my drawing skills to more than realism..

    How about an art show?

Yep I am trying to learn to paint, so why not post them here. I have been doing all the lines with a brush so they are not as clean as just about all the paintings I look at. These are a couple of my latest efforts. - - - Updated - - - Just finished this one today.

    Old tattoo photos

Here are all the photos printed in George Burchett's posthumously published book, Memoirs of a Tattooist. The book has been out of print for a long time--my copy was published in 1958 and there was an American paperback version published in, I think, 1961, and there have been no reprints of it to my knowledge--and it's very possibly even in the public domain at this point which is why I'm posting it. Admins, if this isn't okay please feel free to delete this post because while I think this is worth sharing, I don't want to step on anybody's toes here. Apologies for glare, shadows, etc.
