  7. I wasn't sure if I should post this or not but I think my friend wouldn't mind. My other fave interpretation following the Hardy one. Any biters that steal this idea can get the gasface. Freddy Corbin. Summer of 2000 done in the back of an RV transformed into a tat shack. Lousy photo. It happens.

    First tattoo

1974, just days after I turned 18. Skinny, long-haired rock-n-roller. In some name-unknown parlor on Chippewa Street in Buffalo, NY (which at the time was skid row = Junkies, Prostitutes, rank bars and tattoo parlors). Flash from the wall. As with the times, I don't remember much if any of the experience. Here's what's left of it:

  18. Yesterday, I got a cute black dress, matching shoes, snakeskin ballet flats, little hand-crafted earrings, a toy for my parents' dog ($10 coupon), and cat treats. Took Mom out for a sushi and udon dinner. Got sick on excess sushi.

After a little time off from getting tattooed, I've got two coming up in October. I'm starting on my chest with Tim Pausinger at The Pearl, then I'm getting some work done on my leg by Franz Stefanik at the Okey Doke. Good times ahead!

  24. No need to rush to cover yourself.....at least that is my way of thinking! I never had a plan about which areas to cover in any order although for many years I covered areas first I could hide because I didn't really want a lot of visible tattoos at the time! (work, family, society, etc....all played into the decision) When I started getting tattooed most tattoo artists would not tattoo someones hands or neck until you had "earned" the right to have such tattoos and they would also ask to make sure you were set in your career! At least most of the tattoo artists I was around....I am sure there was someone who would have done it though! Coincidentally my first tattoo (non-professional) was on my hand/index finger......lol I never put off intentionally getting tattooed to wait for emerging artists 20 years later BUT I am glad it has all worked out this way! I have an eclectic mix of styles and of work from older and newer tattoo artists who do excellent work! I mean why would you rush it??? Who knows what will be available to us 20 years from now....take your time and leave a little room for what's to come! ;) - - - Updated - - - If a respected artist tell you this.....then you are doing the right thing by listening!

  25. Over the summer, my coworkers and I attended a staff appreciation BBQ, so the cats out of the bag. No one seemed to mind though. I was surprised to find out one of my coworkers has a ton of sweet Japanese tattoos. Needless to say, we are best buds now haha

  32. There are plenty of people I missed getting tattooed by because of when I got into it. There will be plenty of people I'd love to get tattooed by but won't because I won't have space or won't be into getting tattooed anymore or whatever. That's life.

My wife and I both got tattooed by Capilli Tupou today. First off, he is one of THE nicest tattooers I've ever met. Just an incredibly good guy. My wife got her knee cap and I got the back of my knee done. Because, you know, we complete each other. Hers: His:

  42. Worked on my front today with my boss/mentor, Josh Cruse. Adding a tail for the snake next month, as well as more snake details (I assume scales) and hopefully starting color. EDIT: and once I can avoid insect bites on my forearm during the dog days of summer living in the country, I'll post my Stefano ship from June. Had a few ingrown hairs, then got eaten alive by mosquitoes after some recent rain storms... should be later this week.

    Ink Masters

A friend of mine got in touch and said he's considering being on the show. He knows how much I hate it, so he thought I'd be the perfect person to talk to about doing it. We talked for a few hours via text and I couldn't, at the end, tell him NOT to do it. I was going to go with 'no one will take you seriously if you go on it' then I realized the we as a community/industry/whatever seem to make exception for the the judges, Shane O'neill, Jime Litwalk and whoever else we decide is 'ok' but the rest of them are a joke. I was going to go with 'they're going to make you look like a jerk' because it's easy for me to say that, since my livelihood doesn't depend on tattooing. Lalo said that after being on S2 he had a significant increase in interest for appointments, which Im sure is true for even the worst of the bunch. So internet commentators (like me. Just like me) can comment on you looking silly, but you're going to be too busy tattooing and making a little bit of coin while it's there to be made. I dunno. I think the show is a joke and I hate it, but I couldn't think of a reason for a young tattooer who wants a little adventure and some extra coin NOT to be on it other than for selfish, shallow reasons. So when someone who hates it says 'why not'... I'm curious to what he'll do.

I dont have a pic. I was 15 and in a group home. A guy had needle melted into a piece of plastic and some ink from a pen. I wanted a Wu-Tang logo and he poked it in my arm while we sat on my bed.
