  1. So I started my Erin chance piece today.i ended up tapping after 5 hours, the inner thigh is no joke. I've sat for a few 10 hour sessions and 3 8 hour days I'm a row and I couldn't handle 5 hours on the inner thigh. I actually wanted to tap after the second hour. Pretty mad at myself but I don't want to torture myself. Got a half day booked in May to finish it. What Ya think? Anyone had inner thigh done ? Is it the worst part on the body? image hosting

    Tattoos and Fibromyalga?

Hi @Beans yes I had Fibromyalga from around 2000 to 2012 / 13 . As far as getting tattooed I found the tattooing process probably a little easier as I was so used to feeling uncomfortable most of the time with the condition . Mentally tattoos also helped me because looking at them and finding out about the history etc gave my brain a break from Fibro and allowed me to focus on something each and every day that I really enjoyed which didn't wipe me out totally like most of the other activities I had previously loved . Particulary I think this site helped me a lot too so stick around and I hope you get out of it what I have .

  4. Hi, posting at you from northern europe, Finland, to say i really like the site! I've found out about a lot of great artists and got good advice from here in my time lurking. I've been meaning to register for over a year since i found the site but i've put it off for not having any good recent photos of my tattoos, and i thought if i just register maybe i'll finally put the effort into taking some. I got my first tattoo 6 years ago at 18 and ever since i've been steadily adding to it a few pieces a year more or less. I decided very early on im going for full coverage but im saving the hand and neck tattoos for when im 30 if i still feel like it. Anyway, i managed to dig up some pictures, most are from artists instagrams i think. In no particular order: by Hexa, used to own Precious Tattoo, not sure where he works from now. Hexa Hexa Hexa Oni by Javier Betancourt at Ocho Placas I think i heard of him from here, theres so many crappy shops in Miami it was a chore to find something worthwhile but man am i glad i found him. Crow by Gustav Fröberg, also did my lower left arm which i dont have any pics of upper left arm is JPWikman no better pictures yet sorry Demon granny is by Hexa again In the last picture you can see a peek of the rooster on my ribs started by Jonas Nyberg and im gonna get that one finished up at the Helsinki Ink Convention next weekend! I'll try to get better pictures of all of it or at least the ones i dont have any of and post after i get back from the convention. Hopefully with a rad cock! :D

  5. Hokay, cross-posting by request, cos SeeSea is such a flatterer. I was going to wait until Greg posted the pictures he took of the new stuff, but he may not. Sun came out today when I was about to head to the gym, so I tried to get some myself. I got a diving girl, and we started a cobra, though we didn't finish it. They're looking a little bit foggy/chalky because I peel fast; they'll probably start flaking by tomorrow. It makes it hard to see the blue details in the diving girl, sadly. Sorry for the terrible angles! These links are just an overview of the whole thing, before we added the cobra. https://instagram.com/p/1gugZ7TBPK/ https://instagram.com/p/1guZOxTBO-/

  10. Just over 10 years ago I made friends with this guy from Australia. We met in the emo (lol) chatroom on Soulseek. He moved to Toronto March 9th (a decision that had nothing to do with me) and we met up for the first time the weekend after that. As of April 4th we've been in a relationship. I've never been happier and more sure of anything in my life. Life truly is amazing at times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hello from Kentucky

Here's a couple - - - Updated - - - Then one of my and my newborn for the heck of it. I'm just not sure how my other arm would look if it was half b/g and half traditional color since there's no way to add color to what I have. I'm not worked about mixing themes. I like the look of traditional with a Japanese background. Just wish my traditional arm wasn't so dark and had more flow. Next thing I'd like to change is darken up or do something to my mandal. Just seems a little bland. Maybe some dotwork inside or something to make it more detailed.

  13. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that a vaccine to prevent hepatitis C exists. In any case, I'm not sure what vaccinations a tattoo artist has or doesn't have is relevant to his or her health and hygiene practices when it comes to tattooing.

  14. I love the way a tattoo can move with your body, when I was taking a picture of my leg for the tattoo of the month contest I had my foot on the counter for better lighting and realized that when I bend my knee the tiger gets a really sympathetic look on its face. It made me laugh.

  16. Thanks! The Oni came out great and my only regret is that its not in a more visible spot. Took some photos today but they all came out a bit yellow. Ehh, best i could do. Top part JP Wikman, bottom Gustav Fröberg Hexa a yellow and badly focused pic of the Oni by Javier Betancourt its still much the same, the white highlights have faded to look more smooth but thats about it

    Fill!

Today Greg and I sewed up the two major remaining blank spaces on my arm, leaving two or three small patches that could comfortably contain some sort of fill. My homework assignment is to think about what I might want to put in there. We can always default to flowers and leaves -- I don't think I'll ever feel like I have too many flower tattoos -- but we both feel like there might be another option out there that's fun and slightly different. I just...have no idea what that might be. I haven't spent much time thinking about filler! Maybe bugs, or something...? The only thing we know for sure is that we don't want to introduce any colors beyond the ones already on my arm. He took some pictures of my arm today that don't suck (before he did the cobra on the upper back of my arm), and I am including the links here. Any suggestions? https://instagram.com/p/1gugZ7TBPK/ https://instagram.com/p/1guZOxTBO-/

  19. Welcome Reb! When I look at the pictures you posted the first person who came to mind is Dan Gilsdorf in Portland because his tattoos often have this really wonderful folky quality that I think would work really well with reference drawn from Dutch deflt. I could also see somebody like Greg Whitehead, also in Portland, doing a great job with it. I'm sure there are also people in Seattle who are equally capable of taking your idea and giving you a great tattoo, but I'm not super familiar with people working there. Hopefully somebody with more local knowledge can help out here. Also keep in mind that porcelain and skin are two totally different mediums so it's not going to translate exactly and a good artist will be able to give you what you want in a way that makes sense and works as a tattoo. For example, with the image above, the problem with a lot of pinterest stuff including that tattoo is that the tattoos might look nice when they're fresh but they don't obey fundamental design principles and so they're not going to stand the test of time. There's a thread here that will hopefully clarify that.

Thanks once again for the opportunity to drool over your arm. You know, like not physically or anything :) Bugs - yes! That would be really cool and unique. I can see a little creepy crawly on there, centipede-type creature for one. Google "bugs" and there are so many awesome little colored dudes. 43. Yeah, shes good but its not really my style though. Just a bit too cutesy for me though i bet she could do things i wanted but why ask an artist to change their style when you can go to someone who already does exactly what you want. The convention was great, had a lot of fun met some cool people and on top of getting my rooster finished i got some filler done on my arm, and i got some prints too! Super fun. I dont have pictures of any of it though and Jonas hasn't put any on his instagram so ill have to wait till they're healed and get someone to take good photos for me.

    Kids Names Tattoo

I'm with pretty much with @Graeme on this too. I'd never planned to have any reference to my children in a tattoo, wasn't something that even occurred to me, but as it happens I ended up with one anyway. Amongst the reference I took in before we started my arm was a copy some old botanical type drawings of eggs and nests, they weren't meant to refer to anything in particular - I just like the images. So, a few sessions in he pulled out a stencil he'd drawn up of a nest with 2 eggs in, 'you have got two children, haven't you?' he says... Well, if he'd not said that I'd probably never have associated it with them. But he did and now I have a progeny centered tattoo, which is nice. No names though. - - - Updated - - - The only photo I can find is quite blurry and possibly not fully healed, here: reference: - - - Updated - - - uurg - curse of the massive photos. Sorry. This is maybe better. Maybe.

  45. Update: Hey, guys. I just wanted to thank you for your advice. Yall's words of encouragement were in my head before I lied down. I don't recall any endorphins kicking in, mostly sucked the whole time, haha. My body shook the entire time and I cried about three times, but he got the outline done in 3 and a half hours and I'm still alive and excited about my next session! Scales and shading in the clouds are next. Hopefully I'll be able to push through it. [/img]

  47. I don't think about balance at all. When i get an idea, i think about where it would work best and look good, within my own limitations of available space (im not getting hands, feet, neck, head tattooed) That's about it. Right now, i've got a bunch on my right leg and none on my left. Just the way its worked out. I don't lean to one side either. :p

  49. Pre: Bitch about getting tattooed. Post: Bitch about having been tattooed. Drugs: 1 muscle relaxer. 1 non-drowsy antihistamine. I've found that I tense up heavily after 3+ hours of getting tattooed, so the muscle relaxer keeps me from converting all of that tension into a sore body after the tattoo. Sore body + sore tattoo and no one wins. The antihistamine keeps the surface of the skin from swelling up so much and makes it a little more bearable. Food: Totally changed my ritual since reading my friend David's take on tattoo nutrition.

  50. I know that people will hate me for saying this, but I will anyway. I feel sorry for Kat Von D. To me she is exactly what reality tv producers look for. An extremely insecure (bordering on mentally ill) person that outwardly appears to be confident and uncaring of what others think. Gordon Ramsay, the cast of any of the Real World MTV, Jersey Shore, the Kardashians, etc... These people are perfect because they can be easily lead by anyone that compliments them and validates their behavior. The producers take the most extreme parts of their personality and manipulate them into making that their whole personality. They then ride the person into the ground. It reminds me of the scene in True Grit where they ride the horse until it dies. My guess is that tattooing will survive this period in its long history, but Kat Von D will not. She will be used up by the producers and the advertisers, and left for dead like that horse in True Grit. Then she will turn back to tattooing and find out that it has abandoned her as well. I'm not saying that she does not deserve this. I'm not really sure what she deserves on either side of the coin, but I will say this. It is all very sad to me. I was getting tattooed at True Tattoo before anyone there was on TV, and it was a fun place to be. My memories of Kat are of a young girl that really looked up to Tim and Chris, and was becoming a pretty good tattooer herself. I don't have a lot or respect for the decisions she has made since that time, but I also do not think that she is completely to blame.
