  1. Went to the Montreal convention looking to get a walk-up. Jebb Riley was available, and he put this candle in a long space on my right bicep.

  2. Tomo's new studio, Silk Needle, continues the Yellow Blaze tradition of being somewhat hard to find without GPS / phone map. The sign is 'blink and you'll miss it'. Nagaoka is a morning shinkansen's ride from Tokyo... 1.5 hours. The new studio is super comfy and Tomo seems to be planning a lot of conventions in Europe and Canada soon, he's energised. We did 5 hours, which finished off my front after (I think) 4 years and about six sessions? All in Japan bar one. My bank account is glad that's done. Drank some awesome Echigo beer on the way home and zoned out till I ate a restorative giant ramen. I lived on ramen this trip: All kinds! Soya base, extra fatty pork base, fish base... Cheap, tasty and hydrating. Flying home tomorrow but this morning I had a consult with Shige and, all going well, getting a small piece from him at a convention in Europe in next while.

  3. From Saturday... Bottom of shin/top of foot Jeff Zuck @ Name Brand Saturday night, went to see Motorhead for probably the last time. Fun and sad at the same time as Lem seems every bit of his hard lived 69 years of age. I've seen them almost 20 times and this was kind of a teary goodbye for me.......

  4. Sunday Funday ! It started out as a planned group skydiving adventure. The weather, unfortunately, did not permit. BOO ! So my friend and I decided a quick, unplanned and for no particular reason, trip to Toronto was in order and we ended up at The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop. YAY ! I spent my skydiving money. Maybe next year lol Unlike my friend, I had no real intentions of getting tattooed today but it was kinda like 'when in Rome...' . Glad I went with it. I have wanted a panther head for a while and now I have one. Stoked ! And it's from Bill Baker flash which is really fucking cool to me. Done by Franklin Reeves. Franklin is a super nice dude. Lots of positive energy and laughs. Good times. And getting tattooed is way less dangerous than jumping out of a fucking plane ;)

  9. Too late, I just traced that woman in the canoe and tattooed it on my thigh. But yeah, I need a Dan Gilsdorf tattoo ASAP. And a Jeff P one for that matter.

  10. Here's my Tim Beck iris. He's super tall, so this is a little wonky angle maybe, but he filled that weird spot just perfectly. Freedom Ink is a super cool shop, very chill, very neat, and we listened to Bowie all day. Oh, modesty napkin ;)

  12. Paul Sayce and I are working on two films at the moment. The Paul Sayce Interviews is Paul interviewing tattooers who predominantly started tattooing in the 1960's/70's (Dennis Cockell and Ed Hardy so far, with more to come.) Also we've filmed a part for a bonus/extra feature about Jock of Kings Cross. And another bonus/extra part with Duncan X talking about learning to tattoo from Dennis Cockell in the 1990's. The Paul Sayce Footage will be highlights from the hundreds of hours of footage Paul has taken throughout the last 30 or so years. Near enough none of which has been seen by the general public. For now I won't say what will likely be on it, but as we get further I'll post here and on Instagram - http://instagram.com/paulsaycefilms

  13. +1,000,000 for Atlas. My wife and I managed to snag some small walk-ins from Cheyenne Sawyer in March. Everyone there was really great: a super accommodating, friendly, no BS shop full of heavy hitters. Worth the trip just to gawk at the all the flash (among 100s of others they had some super cool Scott Harrison stuffs)... 10/10 would get tattooed again - - - Updated - - - Mods: let me know if you think the pic of all that flash is not appropriate. Happy to take it down if needed.

  15. Hello, my name is Chris hailing from the Toronto, ON area. I'm an apprentice, 8 months in, at a small shop west of the city. Finally decided to join the site after lurking for quite some time. The site has been really helpful and insightful for me, and I'm excited to share my work and thoughts with everybody here. Here are some sheets I have painted this year. Thanks for looking!

Absolutely stunning @RoryQ. Well worth the time it took. What do you have planned w/ Shige if you don't mind sharing? Oh and that ramen is a beautiful thing too. It has me craving for some.

  22. I finally got around to taking a pic of ol' Tigger. Not exactly my best photo work. When I walk or ride, the muscle movement makes him give a little pelvic thrust!

  23. Those are killer tattoos. Take care of them, but you don't need to baby them after the first month or two, I would just be liberal with the sunblock!

  24. Granddaughter's 6th birthday party yesterday. We noticed that "Marshall" the mule next door was in distress. We found he had a 2 1/2" infected cut on his lower leg. The owners disappear for weeks at a time so we had to call the SPCA. The poor guy can barely walk and needs immediate medical care.

  26. Many years ago I think I may have been particular, but in the end...man, it was just all about the coverage. Power lines, bold, slam the fucker in. A crocodile over the ribs you say? Sounds good to me. A pipe smokin' wizard smacked on the side of the neck? Fuck yeah. But in saying that, after years of being tattooed by the one person, he just knew what suited me as much as I did.

  27. The Tig

    Tiger tattoos

Here is my completed tiger by Tracy Lambright. We'll wrap the leg with a dragon later so he left plenty of negative space. It is one week old and in the peeling stage so it hasn't really settled in yet. I'll get a better photo when it isn't raining and the tattoo completely heals. The florescent lights messed up the yellow ink in the photo for some reason. I may have him put some white in and around the eyes later. I'll add old Tigger on the other calf to my post. I had a hard time getting it in focus and with enough light. He'll soon be getting company on that leg.

  28. I went in last night to fill in the last building on spidey, and the small empty gap on top of my shoulder was getting to him so we decided to put Wasp, Antman's wife, in the gap. Sorry for the redness.

    The ladies thread

Today I'm off to get both feet done. They're only fairly small so I'm not fretting about the pain (in spite of surprise period arrival yesterday, ugh) but I've realised I'm being a total idiot about what to wear to the shop. My inner monologue is all kinds of "I just want them to think well of me!" and it's so ridiculous! Reading the advice in this thread I'm definitely going to pack ibuprofen. I didn't for my back (which was 5x 4 hour sessions) but I think today might be better safe than sorry. Periods are not fun. Tattoos should be, and I don't want one to interfere with the other!

    Tiger tattoos

hundahl at oklahoma tattoo convention, drawn on, he did another tiger on a forearm before me on a cool guy that was killer and I thought about saying" man i will take a similar style and add a snake and be stoked" but just let him do his thing and I got a totally different look than what I pictured and couldnt be happier. He is a definitely someone to get a tattoo from and honestly I see him doing atleast one limb in the future if he is down. I originally thought my limbs would be one shots that i worry about tying together as I went but I am leaning towards asking him to do my whole left leg when time comes
