I'm booked for the end of the month to polish out my backpiece and cap my wrist with a good luck dragon before the end of the year. Hooray. Great timing actually - I can focus on work, enjoy Xmas with my family, slam dance and stage dive with my bros on Boxing Day, hit the waterpark on my week off work and then blam spend a holi-day in Steve's secret battcave. Wash the tattoo the next morning and get drunk on New Year's Eve. boosh

  4. The best holding and brightest inks in my skin happen to be handcrafted inks that tattooers use. Except for maybe the dermaglow neon orange haha. These are secret recipes and fairly closely guarded. I don't think you want to know what's in some of the ink recipes. The same pigments they use in commercial house paint or vodka or bull semen is probably something you don't want to hear right before getting tattooed. If the tattoo looks great in 10 years, that's what really matters IMO. One of my tattooers mixed some homemade green and white inks together and they started bubbling over the cap, like a high school science project. I asked uhhhh what the hell was in it...he said "wizard dust". We laughed. Well he laughed, I laughed nervously. It was itchy for a really long time, and now that green is still bright as hell 5 years later.

I'll have to check out @support_good_tattooing and @thebesttattooartists. I'll echo what was said about @americanatattoos and some of the neat old history things they post. Really cool. I've said it before, I'm constantly impressed with the collections that @ivarro is finding to post on @livedintattoos. I'm humbled that he even asked me, because every Sunday I'm jealous of the tattoos that people are posting. Whenever I think a collection can't be topped, someone else pops up and crushes it.

  8. today i got my first session done for my lion chest piece. I love it so far. Probable gonna introduce a slight bit of color and the lion manes are going to get shaded in darker. I gotta say, i have 2 full arm sleeves but the chest was by far more painful. Definitely no walk in the park. I was literately dizzy after 4 hours of tattooing and felt so burned out i could drop on the floor to sleep. Il be glad when this piece is done. [/img]

  9. Sometimes I wish I could re-tattoo my chest. Not because I would change the design, but because the feeling of empowerment, confidence and euphoria I had after completing the lining session was a pretty significant life moment. So savour the experience @2bacanvas, big vibes to you for a strong sit, enjoy :)

My local artist, Keith Reed, is putting a moth on my left thigh next week to (sort of) pair with the one Oliver Peck put on my right thigh over the summer. We haven't mapped out specifics yet, but it will be based off of some Spider Murphy's flash. In February I'm planning a trip to LA to visit a friend, and we're looking at some matching "bro tats" while I'm out there. It may end up being a walk in job, but also going to potentially call around to a few shops in advance.

Probably obvious that I look like that without the picture... - - - Updated - - - Thanks for the suggestions, and totally agree about livedintattoos and thanking @Iwar for thr work he does to maintain it. It was nice to be able to see some of @Eilin's amazing collection recently, and a bunch of other people who may or may not be on this board. Pretty ambivalent about and even afraid of smart phones, but so far it's all been positive.

I had yesterday a tattoo by Luca Font (see my gallery) and booked already for a tattoo by Eterno. I'm really divided between a skull with circles and a Renault 4 or otherwise a threeheaded peacock. The tattoo would be placed on my rib cage. What do you guys think?

  13. Finally I got my first tattoo, (sorry for posting similar content in my initiation thread). The tattoo is a moka Bialetti, a pomegranate and a number one made by Luca Font in Milano. At the beginning I had the idea of putting a skull at the base of the moka too. We discussed with the artist and decided that another element such as as skull which is round would overcharge the image and putting two round element at the base of an object resembling a column would create the form of a penis. So he put a little number 1 at the base of the moka. I like this tattoo because it's simple, clean, well-placed, has the power of an advertisement being well balanced and reminds of Russian poster-avantgarde for the geometric aspect. I also like the fact that is not overcharged with colour but colour is placed only when it's needed, to emphasize the shape of an object: the metal glimpse of the light on the Moka and the shade of the pomegranate.

  14. Finally started my sleeve based off Gustave Dore's Crowned Virgin. Got most of the outline done, still have to add the dragon with the rocks/water. Can't wait to go back in two weeks!

  20. Got this from Hector Fong yesterday at Tattoo 13. Always wanted something from him, and walk-in Saturday showed up, when I had some extra cash. I took this photo at BART. Looked like a weirdo, but sunlight makes for easier tattoo photo's, I've found. Rad tattoos, everyone. Keep up the good work.
