  2. So, I got to spend a few hours yesterday with Jack freakin Rudy at Shanghai Kate's shop. Such a wonderful experience. Jack's a very cool guy and we talked throughout most of the tattoo. At the end we all agreed that it looks like an old-school Jack Rudy tattoo.

  3. First rib tattoo coming up on Tuesday. Should be an experience. I've been trying to tell the people in the office that Tattoo Tuesdays would be a great morale booster but they just laugh and blow me off. Guess this will show 'em.

Hi! My name is Elle. I'm from Texas but am living in Germany (military wife). I've gotten a lot of good advice from this site just looking through the forums, and figured I should join instead of just lurking in the dark!

  10. Same here. I'm hopeful that I've timed it well that it will be fully healed by the time the nice weather comes... not that we get much of a summer here in the UK; the odd day if we're lucky!

  11. Proof that you made a great decision. It's been a year since I got my first and about 6 months since my second..and I still find myself looking at them every day. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can show them off again.

  14. Cheers guys! I think I'm already in denial about how painful it was you know lol... I'm already starting to think about the next one! It's a toss up at the moment between the other shoulder or on one of my calves... Won't be until after the summer now probably so plenty of time to decide!

    Forearm tattoo ideas?

Yeah I plan on completing a sleeve by the end of the year. I'm going in tomorrow, I decided on a simple eagle on my outer forearm, though I'm open to getting the aforementioned design on my inner forearm.

  17. We use it in the ER. the red blotching isnt something to be concerned about unless it persists. The fairer the skin the more likely you'll encounter it.

  22. My backpiece by Chris Crooks is finished for now. Will be extending down to the knees this summer. Two full consecutive days to get it finished, forgive the redness and bloodinfused colors.

  25. These are literally about an hour after we'd finished so it's looking quite red, sore and swollen. It's looking a lot calmer this morning so I'll post some more in a little while once I've given it a clean (it's looking a bit mucky this morning!); I need to wait until my husband gets back to help me as I can't reach the back bits

  26. Soooooo, yesterday was the big day! I was booked in for the whole day so arrived at 10.00am sharp with my packed lunch and bottles of water like a good customer My lovely artist David had got some of the drawings done and was just waiting on my approval before making stencils of them. I loved the flowers he had done, they were exactly what I wanted so after transferring the stencils to my skin we made a start. The first 2 hours of tattooing were fine; I was chatting to everyone in the shop and the pain was more than bearable. The third hour was a bit rougher, I could feel it much stronger and it was getting a bit teeth gritting. By the 4th hour I couldn't take it any longer Every touch of the needle was just agony, my body had had enough! I had to stop him (with tears in my eyes I am very embarrassed to admit!) but he was fine, he was lovely, he said it was not a problem at all. He'd only got to colour in one flower so it's very much obviously unfinished lol but there was literally nothing on this earth that could have made me continue yesterday. Put it this way; if he'd said to me "let me finish and it'll be free" I would have still say no Due to conflicting schedules I'm booked in for 3 weeks time to have the rest coloured in. He said he shouldn't be more than 2 hours work left, maybe 2 and a half. I'm cool with that, I think I've realised my body's comfort limit is 2 hours and it's absolute limit is 3. Anything over than is a NO WAY! So... anyone want to see some photos?

  28. Bummer...It would have been a good hang but who can resist an Easter Egg hunt? The plan is what I'm calling "Hare in Kimono Flying a Dragon Kite" on my left upper arm. All loosely based on some research that I did on the Japanese folklore tale of the Rabbit in the Moon. We'll see what he comes up with! I'm concerned that there's not enough room for the kite but we have other options if needed. :)

  30. Got some work done a couple weeks ago. Finished up this sailor moon piece since I ended up getting sick right as we were finishing up! Had to do some color packing and the white highlights in a second session. Then she filled that elephant outline with the flowers! I've had the outline for a good 3 or 4 years (when I was a stupid tattood girl) and never knew what to do with it. She had some cute flower drawings and decided to slam those in there! Also got this shin piece done by Jordyn at Classic Tattoo in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada back in January! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Here is a Fudo/Dragon sleeve I started on April first with Scott Sylvia. Still need to line the scales on the dragon and line the inside of the arm. This took roughly two and a half hours. I go back in early June. Biggest project I've started so far (my right arm I pieced together).

    Un-lurking

Got my first tattoo about a month ago, everything seems to be healing well, and of course I've got a million plans for future tattoos. I've been lurking at LST for a little over a month, and just wanted to say thanks for all the advice in the old threads. I'm the kind of person who needs to obsessively research things before I do them I order to feel comfortable in a new situation, and this forum is the best thing I found to get an idea of what I was going into. Story: showed up to my session, I'd sent the artist a couple of reference pics, but had no idea what he'd come up with. All I knew is that I wanted an ankh with an overlaid eye of Horus, and if he could also possibly work in some mandala design. So he showed me the outline he came up with, and while I absolutely loved it, the size was a little bigger than I expected, and I waffled a minute. But I remembered all threads at LST I'd read with experienced people saying "go big or go home" and "thou shalt trust thy tattoo artist if you want their best work" - so I let him pick the right size and placement, and two hours later I had my lovely tattoo! So anyway, that's me, looking forward to participating a bit more now that I know it's definitely a thing I want to do more of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  40. so I had this done yesterday. This time the pain was quite strong. My first tattoo was on the opposite side of this tattoo, but then the pain wasn't strong. Could it be because of lack of sleep? Because there were moments, when I tought that I will not handle this:D

  42. I got my first tattoo about 5 years ago when my wife decided it was time for her to get a new tattoo after a long break. We decided to get matching tattoos of a terrible drawing I had done on a Mother's Day card of the two of us and our daughter all holding hands. Think of those stickers people put on their mini vans except drawn by someone who can't even print his own name legible most of the time. It is by far my worst tattoo and one of my favorites. I never thought that it would lead to all these other tattoos.
