    Upcoming Tattoos

So my wife and I are going to New York City next weekend for a long child free weekend and this morning I was a little bored and got to thinking and next thing you know I called Smith Street and made us each an appointment. We plan to just walk in and pick something off the wall. I gotta tell you- we are both looking forward to it.

  3. @Makmak woah thats really red! might want to seriously talk to your artist about what products to use and how to keep your tattoos from getting so angry (hygiene, aftercare, brands to use for said care). Secondly go to a dermatologist, any number of things could have happened or you might just be using something that is irritating the tattoo/skin.

  11. Just got this from Bryan Randolph at Spider Murphy's: It's based on old Milton Zeis flash (and my wife, for bonus points). Bryan's awesome, and I couldn't be happier with it.

  17. I got my last tattoo in February by Damon Conklin at Super Genius in Seattle. It took 3.5-4 hours. My daughters got me into Monster High dolls and we all have a favorite. Mine is Ghoulia who is the daughter of zombies. I found a picture of this amazing Ghoulia doll repaint and I had to have it. I tweaked her a bit to make her more zombie looking. I plan to get their favorites also eventually.

  18. I got this on Friday, birds and flowers, kind of in the style of Polish papercuts (wycinanki). It's my first tattoo for 11 years. It's just lined out at the moment but I think it looks pretty good.

  19. Oliver Peck panther head. I heard on Thursday that he was in Dublin (in Tommy's Classic Ink) for one day only, and taking walk-ins. Took a half-day's leave from work and... Bob's your uncle... This morning it's not that swollen, but it does appear to be weeping a fair bit - to do with the location, I guess? While I was in the shop I met Ross Nagle and Jordan from Frith Street very briefly.

  20. I just got a tattoo done by Scott Silvia last Monday (3/26) and I was way beyond excited to meet him and to get a tattoo by, in my opinion, one of the best tattooist out there!! It is my favorite tattoo and fills me full of drive and motivation to keep that fire under my ass to keep achieving and striving to learn. One of the best things about being a tattooist is learning, growing, and evolving through getting tattoos, asking questions, observing, researching, and much much more! Living and breathing tattoos. I got the Spider Lady because of personal reasons and because its a traditional tattoo design that holds so much history within itself and to see an added new twist to the traditional tattoo designs makes me appreciate and want to know and learn more and more. This is seriously my new favorite tattoo (as are all new tattoos) And makes me want to strive and continue to get tattooed by awesome, amazing, inspirational, driven artist!

  21. I just got home from our little trip to LA, and I brought a friend: I went to Bob Roberts and asked him for one of his tiger heads. He saw the spot I had open and furrowed his brow. "That's gonna be tough." He tried to sketch something on, but I could tell he was kinda flustered, so I said, "Ya know, I also really like your spiders." He lit up and said, "Now you're talkin'!" He drew it on and knocked it out in half an hour. All in all, it was a great, great experience. He and I chatted about music and, of course, tattoos. He asked to see my back, then said, "I got a snake on my back, too." He then proceeded to melt my face off by showing me his Ed Hardy backpiece, as well as his Horiyoshi III torso pieces. Coolest fucking dude ever, and I am beyond stoked on my black widow.

  24. I think this is more or less healed up. Bit of a rubbish photo but I'm only using the Mac. Got to get a proper pic later to forward onto Ching. The last session (face and headpiece) has settled down and blended in with the rest. And yes, I really am this pale. Over the rest of the year I am looking at a couple of smaller traditional pieces on my right leg, and then sometime towards the end of the year I am going to try and sleeve the rest of my right arm with Ching - got a design planned out already.

  25. I got my first tattoo yesterday. Sat from 11:00 to 3:00 (he drew it on freehand first) and we just did the outline. It's the first part of a Japanese themed sleeve. It's a Koi with a dragon head. I go back for color and the outline for the next piece the first of April. Unfortunately my artist is booked about 6-8 weeks in advance. I guess it just gives my old skin more time to heal between sittings.

  30. Lifetime Tattoo in Denver was having a Pearl Harbor Day deal yesterday, palm sized Sailor Jerry flash for $41 (for the year Pearl Harbor was bombed). I couldn't pass that deal up from such a good shop. I almost felt guilty getting such a nice tattoo for so little cash (I tipped well) I got this: Sorry, terrible cell phone pic...

  40. My latest is posted in the War Stories thread as well, but I might as well tell more about it here. I got it this past Saturday. This one was at the request of my kids. I had said I wanted something completely whimsical, so I asked them what they thought I should get. They suggested Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P, from the Disney show Phineas and Ferb. I am almost as big a fan of the show as they are, so I thought it was an awesome idea. I found that the artist who has done my previous three tattoos is currently taking a break from the business, so went to another loval artist she had recommended - Robyn at Mothers Tattoo in Erlanger KY. I am seriously pleased with the outcome - great experience and she did a great job of capturing the character. She also used a nearly silent tattoo machine, which I found interesting, I didn't know those existed....

  49. I finally got around to sorting pictures of my chest - these were done in February / March of this year so I'm not sure if they count as 'latest tattoo lowdown' material though... This oni head, also by Mo, is older, but I didn't have a pic of it until now. It's funny, when I look at this picture I don't so much see the tattoo as all the bare skin below it, and I think 'damn, better bring that down the arm'.
