And I'm back! Had my first session a few days ago, we went for about 7 and a half hours or so and got all the outline done. Was definitely a tough session, the kidneys, parts just below my neckline and the tailbone were all particularly unpleasant. I'm hoping the shading will go a little easier on me. We're going to add some more at some point so that my ass is covered, probably flowers or some cool swirling wind bars. Next session is another day in about three weeks or so. I couldn't be happier with how its looking currently, I just wish I didn't have the view intruded upon by the old pieces, still, they'll be gone soon enough! I can't wait to see how it all unfolds from here really.

No, No, No. You'll turn it into a hot mess. Blowouts can happen in any circumstances, but on small, thin lines on thin skin, the chances of having one is exponentially increased.

Hi and welcome @Rybia , looks normal but it's way too early to know anything,it needs to heal for a couple months, if it is blowout there is nothing to be done about it, and our skin varies a lot on our bodies,that soft skin on that part of your arm is prone to blowout anyway. the slightly raised look is normal swelling and that will go away. don't be too bumped(lol) about it,relax,enjoy your new tattoos and start planning your next bad ass tattoo.

If it doesn't hurt, itch or feel irritated, I'd leave it for now. If it's still there in a couple of weeks, maybe see a dermatologist then.

@oboogie nailed it. That's a solid F***ing tattoo and you should be proud to wear it, microscopic "imperfections" and all. edit: The older I get, the more I appreciate the Japanese (very appropriate here) concept of wabi sabi, or beauty in imperfections. These are the parts of the tattoo that really tell a story: of past, present, and the human(s) involved along the way. Hopefully you too can see the beauty in that some day, but for now just leave it alone! You're much more likely to do more harm than good.

@gingerninja Thanks so much! Well, I'm done, seven and a half hours to line and I'm now I'm at the morning after and feeling absolutely drained. It's incredible though, I'm over the moon with it. Can't wait to get started in a month on some shading. I'll post a picture at some point in the next couple of days over in the backpiece experience thread for anyone that is interested.

I got my third tattoo last Wednesday... the tattoo I always thought would be my first, a family tribute. I asked for suggestions on it here a while back and tried to put them to good use. I stayed away from heavy on text and went with something more graphic and symbolic. We all like the Pixar movie "Up" so I used that as a theme and added my wife's, daughter's and grandkids' first initials in heart shaped balloons with their birth stone colors. It was done by Jaimi Mullholand at Broad Wing Tattoo in Bowling Green, OH. I'm super pleased with it and ready for my next.
