  1. Hi Friends! I'm new here. In November I'll be starting a full back piece. My artist is Travis Hulshizer at The Green Gazelle in Kansas City. We wrapped up my sleeve a couple years ago and finally am ready to start my next project. It'll be a full back piece centered around a turkey vulture with feminine imagery to balance it. I'm also a VERY anxious person and am already nervous about the pain. I was able to sit for 5-6 hour sessions for my sleeve but I hear the back is pretty rough. Also, for ladies, and tips on the best way to dress for comfort and easy access to my full back? Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the love and tips everyone! I'm definitely anxious for the pain aspect but I'm sure I can do it 😳 I'll be most excited when it's finished. I'm not one who enjoys the process!

  4. I haven’t got any back pieces done but I have my shoulder. Why not try wearing a bikini top? Then that way there’s only two strings to contend with and they can be untied when he gets to the center. Your front would still be covered (you’d be lying on your stomach most likely, or maybe sitting in a chair leaning on the back?). Your sleeve is amazing, I love it.

  6. Recently got my first tattoo in the US. Originally from New Zealand where I have three others. Super happy with the result, two sessions 15/16 hours total. Done at stained skin in Columbus Ohio. Excuse the swelling on the inside and outside of my bicep, that shits painful LOL.

  8. Here's a small one I got yesterday. It's a snail warrior, a symbol of the band Heilung. They play music derived from pre-viking northern tribes. Very ancestral.

  10. Yes, the back is rough, but you power through it because you're tough and powerful. also, don't be afraid of breaks and communicating with your artist. I get completely naked, but I'm a dude so it's different. There's a thread here called "full back piece experience." Check it out for further ideas.

Your dog is super adorable!! Here's one of my dogs when she was just a pup. Maybe I'll post pics of her all grown up later (she's 11 now).

  13. Ours does the same but he pees while doing it 🙃. He’s mental. Lol. We have a mini too, he’s 25 pounds and he’s adorable. Totally not tattoo related but here’s a pic of them.

  15. My artist's shop reopened with one person at a time and only two artists working. Everyone wears masks, and they can only get in a couple of scheduled tattoos a day (no walk-ins). Got this yesterday. My artist and I both love John Prine.

  16. Thats crazy. Georgia has been real ballsy the whole time. I was surprised our governor let tattoo shops open back up because he is super old school christian. But I'm glad he did. A one on one session with a masked up tattoo artist is a lot safer than most shit they still allow to happen.

  17. so me and my wife met with Oliver at the Feather Falls Tattoo expo and I got the horseshoe on my left knee ditch and she got the turtle on her left leg to go with a mermaid and octopus that he did a couple years ago.

  18. My girlfriend is awesome. She has ZERO tattoos. She loves me for who I am and fully appreciates me. She values that tattoos are part of my identity and one of the ways I've found to express myself. The trips to the beach are sure to be interesting haha.
