  1. Yeah, Hogrider is right. Just enjoy your tattoo. Quit staring at it with a microscope. You will hate it more if you have the artist start futzing with it. I have NEVER looked at any of my many, many tattoos with such scrutiny. It is an art form, FFS. Enjoy your art. Stop obsessing.

  2. If I was the artist I'd tell you to take a hike. "Fixing" tattoos makes them worse more often than better in my experience. The tattoo isn't even healed and you're complaining about it. Rushing to "fix" something is a recipe for disaster. I can't tell you how many times I was getting tattooed and someone came in with some shitty glob of ink on their body crying about how they hated their tattoo so they ran out and got a coverup and now it's even worse. You've basically got a lot of lines. They can't move them, they can only tattoo over them. My honest recommendation is "Don't get any more tattoos." Tattooing is an art, not a science. There is no such thing as a perfect tattoo. Your expectations are very unrealistic, in my humble opinion anyway. Sorry to be so harsh, but I think you need a wake up call.

  5. Totally this. Imo, tattoos chronicle our lives. They are ours and ours alone. No one will ever get what each tattoo means or what stage of our life each represents. And that's totally cool. No point worrying about what others may think. One man's meat is another man's poison and all that.

  6. our tattoos are a roadmap of our lives, the good and the bad, actually that's what makes us who we are,so it's important IMO to remember the good and the bad and all the lessons learned form life experiences and relationships we have all had.so wear it with pride and don't worry about what all the judgmental a s sholes think of you and your tattoo.

  8. A lot of it probably has to do with you not being used to it. It's new, filling a space that was open before, so it stands out. Doesn't take long to get used to it 🙂

  9. It's very common; we get posts on here like every few days. I'd hold off on another one for a bit if this one is this concerning. Nothing to do now other than to grow to love it, which you've indicated you already do; it ain't going anywhere.

  10. This is really well put, I really appreciate this input. I think as I was planning this tattoo I didn't realize I was admiring it on my phone all the time and not on my body. The thought of having it there forever is still messing with me (again this never happened with my other one..) I'm taking a break from staring at it for now haha.

  11. I’d venture to guess that if this is only your second tattoo and first in a visible spot, your feelings of anxiety are completely reasonable and probably not too uncommon. Some of my friends have fun teasing me cause they know I tend to be very harsh and unsure about my tattoos. Compound this with the fact you can see 1,000’s of the best tattoos from the best artists all around the world, refreshing on your instagram feed hourly. AND the fact that you can appreciate all of those without the consequences of getting them and it makes even more sense why one would second guess, go through shock or feel a sense of regret. It’s actually probably a big part of the power and statement of tattoos, a sense of live for today, don’t care about tomorrow, self assured impression whether actual or just imagined. In conclusion, take the advice you’ve received so far and stop looking at it or thinking about it at least until it’s completely healed, settled in, no longer shiny and overly saturated looking. Give yourself permission not to deal with it about it for at least three months before you can make a reasonable, levelheaded decision or opinion about it.
