Got a new one from Ian Haight at Sideshow Alley Tattoo in Portland, OR. This was surprisingly more spicy than my bear knee tattoo. Who knew?

    Upcoming Tattoos

I've got an appointment for my next on 6/29. It's just one hour to add a frame of nails to my first saw blade tattoo. The shop where I got my first does a Veteran's benefit each year right around July 4th. They donate ALL their time and all the money goes to the VA hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. The last couple years they raised over $10k each year. You get a t-shirt and after care products and local restaurants bring in the eats. Really looking forward to be able to help out some folks that really deserve it.

    Tattoo advice

The best advice I ever got was when my artist said something like, "There's no such thing as the perfect tattoo. If you look for every little thing, you'll drive yourself crazy. Just enjoy the big picture." I've always taken his advice and I've always enjoyed my tattoos.

OMG. I don't know how you have lived with that train wreck? Maybe just cut off your arm? *kidding* I suggest taking a giant deep breath. You are going to make yourself crazy! The imperfections are what makes it real. 🙂

Please advise on inner arm tattoo

If that bothers you I'd suggest not getting any more tattoos. Tattoos are not perfect. If you try to fix it you'll either make it worse, or likely find something else that's not perfect.

I got started on a new dragon tattoo myself. This is eventually going to be an entire sleeve. So far I’ve had one two hour session. He drew it on during the first hour and tattooed the second hour. Next session is in a few days. Work being done by Andrew Labanaris at Iron Hand Tattoo. Sorry...not the best pics.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

I got this one last week from Lukas Speich at XXX Tattoo in Lucerne, Switzerland. I stole the idea from a story that Yoni Zilber retold from Bill Salmon, in a Podcast... there was a dude who saw someone's tattoo and said, "That's a pretty cool tattoo. I got a tattoo also, but mine's a little cooler." He showed the tattoo and there it was... a little cooler. 😉😉 I chose the classic Igloo Playmate, but the wording was too small to tattoo. So, I asked Lukas to add a little Swiss flag and he went with a red cross. It's kinda funny to me, as it now looks like it could be used to transport an organ donation.

Just got home yesterday from a 13 day 4200 mile motorcycle trip with the wife. Took US70 from Tennessee to its Western terminus in Arizona, then back roads to Williams, train to the Grand Canyon, returned via US60 with a side trip to the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest. Also a stop to stand on a corner when a hot girl in a truck pulled up.

    Etiquette

If the first artist says anything about it, reply, "screw you". Your money, spend it how and where you like. If the first is the shop owner or co-owner he's getting a cut anyway. I have a lot of respect for artists, but they're not the end all, be all.

If you are his artist you need to grow a set and not be a puss-wad troll. If you're not, he came here and ask for people's opinions and they gave them, not really your concern. At this point I'd say you two need to resolve this person to person and not make it an internet pissing contest. Just my 2 cents.

You can't cover over that big black tattoo with a water color tattoo. As @SStu suggests, start some laser treatments. This isn't going to be fast or cheap to fix. DON'T hurry, find someone really good at coverups and be prepared to spend some serious money. If you don't, you'll make an even bigger mess. That is a big honking black tattoo on some really delicate skin in a really public spot, so it's going to take someone really good to do something with it. Good aint cheap and cheap aint good.

A few things to consider... You will be one giant open wound. The chances for infection will increase each session. Do every thing you can to boost your immune system before, during and after each session. Are you traveling alone? Having someone to help you on during and after the sessions would be a great idea. You may not heal the same or as well as normal tattoos...think about the trauma to your skin and immune system. Last year, I was tattooed five days in a row but they weren't all day sessions , like ~16 hours total and all different tattoos. It was enough. This past week, I did two sessions (one 4 and 1 five hour). I know for me, keeping my immune system healthy and managing the healing process are my top priorities.

This may be a bit over the top. It may not be a great tattoo, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to show it off. If anyone has the ill manners to say anything, you can just say it's not finished, no need to explain further. Considering so many disasters I've seen, this doesn't even make the top 75% of bad tattoos. Just my opinion, but I'd try to find something you like about it and focus on that while you are healing and finding someone to rework it. I would remind you that many of the people on this forum have extremely high expectations (as they should). For the average person on the street, you have a bad ass tattoo. Please try to remember that. Good luck

Just got in from a session. We did about 2 1/2 hours. Got just about the entire sleeve’s line work complete. Still a little more to do on the inner arm, which I’m not looking forward to!! I’ll post some pics in a few days when it isn’t so raw.

You'd tell any potential artist what you're original vision was, bring references of other similar art that you love and ask for their honest opinion of a possible outcome.

Over lotioning is harmful, but light usage helps some people deal with the healing. I'm about 70% covered, have never used any and all my collection has healed perfectly.

Run Forrest, Run!! Just my opinion, but I would let that heal for a couple of months and start looking for someone experienced in coverups. It's going to take time, laser and money, but I think you can save that.

Ya... that's pretty bad. I think I'd go to someone that specializes in cover ups and talk to them. And for the love of God, never go back to that "artist". Was that done in a shop?
