  1. Again, definitely Frith Street. That's where are I go. They're the best!
  2. I was thinking the exact same thing after the London Convention! Very tempted!
  3. I hadn't planned to get tattooed at the London Convention, but Michelle Myles (Dare Devil / Fun City NYC) had a cancellation and I've always really loved her work. I got a fantail (native bird from my home country New Zealand) on my outer forearm. I totally love him! Will post a pic once he's healed. I had such a great time at the convention, the first one I've been too.
  4. Valerie Vargas at Frith Street Tattoo in London. A bit yellow because of the bruising. So pleased with it!
  5. So I watched the first episode of the new season of TLC's Tattoo School. Out of curiosity. (Don't worry, watched it online, won't contribute to their ratings). I believe two episodes have screened. On top of the 'special' they put out last year. I cannot put into words how dreadful it was. Three terrible people. Apparently on a two week course. Making truly awful tattoos. And then being praised by their teacher for their smooth tattooing skills and creativity (?!?!!). I shouldn't have watched it. It might be the worst thing to ever be on TV. And that's saying something. Anyone else see the show since it premiered earlier this month?
  6. In hindsight this probably belongs in the hipster tattoo thread
  7. Seen this yet? Hilarious. A few years back, my friend's younger brother asked a famous skateboarder to autograph his arm and was then determined to get it tattooed. Sadly for him that plan got nixed when he showed up at my friend's place asking for cash to get the tattoo.
  8. Upside down script on my wrist. Before I knew better. Currently plotting an awesome cover up.
  9. I got a lovely new tattoo today from Valerie at Frith St in London.... https://instagr.am/p/IR82kEOt4R/ (It's the purple ranunculus flower. The pink rose is on me too, I had that one done 6 weeks ago)
  10. I was in NYC for work a fortnight ago and really wanted to walk in to Smith Street but didn't have time. Seriously jealous of you! Be sure to show us what you end up getting!
  11. What a cool, inspiring guy. I really like his outlook on life. Plus his work is amazing, obviously!

  14. Who are you booked in with in London?
  15. Today I managed to score TWO cancellations with Valerie at Frith Street for early Jan 2012. What a great start to the year....
  16. Sweet, so all I need to do is bring my dad with me to hold me down?
  17. Thanks everyone, I appreciate your advice!! Will put it all to the test during my next session.
  18. Ok, I'm sure this will sound ridiculous to some.... But I'm wondering if LSTers have any advice on the best ways to keep yourself still during tattoo sessions? I have three pieces now... One tiny, two medium sized. The small one was easy, but during the medium pieces my muscles would twitch during the tattooing process... it seemed completely involuntary, but I'm sure was quite annoying for my artists. (They may have very kindly pointed this out to me!!) I want more work done and larger pieces. But I need solutions for sitting better first. I don't want to be that pain in the ass client. I've done my research. The pain isn't unbearable, I can definitely handle it. I don't drink days beforehand. I stay hydrated. I take a snack with me to avoid my blood sugar crashing out. I try to relax. Can anyone offer any other advice or strategies? Thanks.
  19. Oh, and I should add.... I think the girl who it is on is his wife. How could he do that to her knowing the design was ripped off?
  20. I spotted the Valerie Vargas knock off a couple of months back. The girl and her tattoos were featured on a blog.... Sometimes Sweet: Tattoo Tuesday V.95 This makes me very, very sad. I was having dinner with friends later that day.... while discussing tattoos I mentioned seeing this blog post. Some felt that no-one was hurt, so no harm was done. But others agreed that it's an insult to the artist and even more so to the person whose skin the original piece is on. If someone copied my Valerie Vargas girl head and I discovered a photo online, I would be devastated. I absolutely cannot understand the motivations of someone who would want a ripped off piece on their skin.
  21. What I like about Pinterest is that it automatically saves the source of the image. Which is very helpful as a user, and also respects the owner of the original image.
