  1. It's not about the name for me, it's about the power. You find the right tattooer, they can communicate your idea through their art in a powerful way. AP Shrewsbury wasn't a big name tattooer when I got tattooed by him, but his Seraph of the Crucified tattoo on my shin consistently gets the most attention out of all of my tattoos. It's bold, simple and powerful - that's the kind of tattoo I want.

People see similar powerful tattoos on others and they're drawn to that. Maybe those big-name tattooers aren't hitting you the same way.

  2. Zoooombie thread just in time for Halloween...

First off, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I've been super busy with life post-wedding. That being said, I've been wanting to make time to get tattooed and it looks like sometime in the next two months is perfect.

I'm planning on praying hands and roses on my left pec to balance out my chest. Tattooer-wise, I'd love it to be Corbin or Hendricks, but I don't think those guys are coming through Austin anytime soon. I saw that Katja Ramirez has moved to Rock of Ages and her black and gray work is killer. I'll keep ya'll posted when I get an appointment.

  3. Funny story about this...

I told this girl I know (not girlfriend) that I was thinking of getting a traditional Jesus head tattooed on my chest. She then goes on to tell me that it would be super awkward for any girl that I end having sex with, because when they look up they would see Jesus.

    True story.

I've thought the same thing. I think that would go for having a giant Bob Tyrell demon on your torso, too.

  4. Oh wow- how cool to log in and see this! Thank you guys so much! Key West was a blast and we're now back to "normal" life :p

I caught a shark while I was there, so I've decided to get a shark tattoo to comemorate the event. I'd have gotten one there, but the two shops I saw were not great. I'm thinking of waiting until a Florida artist makes it through town; Eric Inksmith is going to be at Ancient Ink, so that's a possibility ;)

  5. I haven't been doing much lately other than work and wedding plan (next week's the big day!) I have found time to get tattooed ( thigh panel by Scott Ellis) but the process has been moving slowly because I wanted to be healed for the honeymoon (beaches and diving and stuff). I'll be back in full post mode in a few. I know this is titled "where did the tattooers go?" not "where did the postaholics go?", but someone mentioned non-tattooers so I thought I'd chime in since I was around;)
