Looks good! What is it? Was that painful
Just a cool tattoo design. Not too bad at all. Seemed better than my other forearm

I've got an appointment with Brett Burnham in November. I can't wait!! Tell me what you think of Brett's work.
-
see I think of his stuff (which I really like - hope to get a piece from him some day) as traditional
but i think like i said earlier these type of conversations are more for amusement or just interesting really - a classification doesnt (or shouldnt) change the your attraction (or lack of) to a particular tattoo
That's the thing. I like styles as basic as Mark Cross and Krooked Ken but I want this tattoo to be a little more realistic while still having the lasting qualities of traditional. I don't think fine lines last as well.
-
I always thought some of Bailey Robinson's stuff was sort of neo traditional. Traditional content but slightly more realistic.
-
I'm going to give a picture of my first buck for reference but don't want a portrait. I want bold lines and color but kind of realistic, if that makes sense.
-
I looked at Jesse Smith's instagram. He seems more New School to me.
-
I am wanting to get a White tail deer tattoo and like this guys style. What do you think of him and is his stlye considered neo traditional?

As long as you choose your artists well, you really can't go wrong either way. Both my arms are sleeved by one artist each (continuous pieces, not individual tattoos put together). One is color/neotraditional, one is black/dotwork. Sometimes I'm envious of people who have piecewise sleeves because it gives them a chance to get tattooed by more artists, and sometimes I'm envious of people with bodysuits done by one person. All that said, I love both my sleeves and have enjoyed each session I've had for different reasons. I really wouldn't trade them.
So go in, get your first tattoo done and see where that takes you. It'll be sick either way.
Can you post a pic? I would love to see the work.

B&G American Traditional is the style, p much.
You might like Heather Bailey's work. She tattoos at Black Heart in SF.
Thanks on the heads up for Heather Bailey! Pretty nice looking work

I suppose so. My take on it is that if you like how Simon Erl tattoos, go seek out a tattoo from Simon Erl rather than finding somebody else to give you an imitation of that.
When me and the wife get to Europe I will try to do that. It's monetarily impractical for me to get a flight from the USA just for the reason of getting a tattoo

I'm not into the devil stuff but am getting a Reaper when I'm done my chemo treatments. Was thinking about one earlier but got my Panther Rose morph and love it. I really think black looks good with muted reds.

What is his style considered? Traditional American with a dark twist? What other artists have a similar style that are in the USA? Thanks

Just not sure about the tentacles in the forearm. I feel it's missing something. Or am I overthinking again?
Isn't the whole thing on your forearm?

My inner forearm near my wrist was the worst for me. He started there and I was thinking,"what did I get myself into?!!"

About a month ago I was getting some work done on my arm... While I was there , The artist next to the one working on me refused to work on a tattoo the customer wanted with some dates... The customer was not sure of the date "daughters bday" but he was telling the artist "I think is right just go ahead and start!!!" and the artist said that he was not going to start until he made the phone call and ask his love one for the date to make sure....
Guess what? The date the customer told him was wrong... Everybody in the shop started laughing including the customer... The customer thank the artist for making sure he was right before he started...
Just my 2c, But it is the customers responsibility to make sure all is right before any works gets started... I can only blame my self if I gave the go-ahead on something that is wrong from the get go....
The customer left and while everybody laughed and had a good time the artist was pist at the situation... He just keep his cool...
It amazes me a guy couldn't remember his daughter's birthday.

Do you guys and gals try to make a theme when you do a sleeve of traditional tattoos or just random stuff that you think looks cool?
-
So far two skulls is the only multiple I have. I think another Dragon is in my future though.

Still waiting on a pic

I'm a tattoo artist. I have a ton of tattoos. I don't think that I have a single tattoo on my body that turned out the way that I hoped it would. I have even lasered off an entire sleeve that was a cover up of another sleeve that I did as a young kid.... And the my new sleeve after my laser, kinda sucks, it's not really what I was going for. Close, but certainly not great.
Point being, you just deal with it. It's part of the game. I have never stood up from a tattoo chair and thought that the artist did a bad ass job. Probably because I have just gotten tattooed by people that I work with rather than seeking out the bad asses that would certainly do a great tattoo. I'm not complaining, I don't sit around regretting them.... I'm just saying it happens. And there's not much to be done about it.
That's a shame you are never completely happy. I am thrilled by the work I have but I try to seek out excellent artists. I would rather have none than crappy tattoos but that is just my opinion.
