I started a half sleeve koi as my first tattoo a few weeks back. We did the outline in the first session and will be returning to get it colored in a couple weeks. Mine was for my birthday as well..lol

You could try having yourbtattoo artist draw up a design like that one if you like it but not as cartoonish
