O Loch! It was so wonderful seeing you and your lady friend locking up those bikes in front of the shop. Thank you for the surprise visit. It warmed this little heart of mine, it did. :) Please come and stay a little longer so I can give you the savory menu tour of some of my favorite Portland chefs. I would also like to share, what is left of the old tattoo history here that I grew up with. Sea Tramp Tattoo. Mary Jane Haake. Deluxe Tattoo. Even maybe a visit out to Bert Grimms gravesite. It is quite a sweet story of his wife and his long time relationship, and then being buried next to eachother. This week is fleet week and the Rose festival. All those navy boys come down town in their uniforms and whoop it up. I have fond memories of them coming in yearly to get tattooed. There is something so romantic about it all. The contrast of the seedy bum junkie ridden streets, full of life at this time with drunken laugher and sailor's kicking their heels up on leave. Night time downtown this time of year, is one of my favorites. Its timeless. So anyhoo...next time, well have to enjoy some hikes and share with you some epic view points. Here are a few of "my precious" I have at the shop. The Jensen, I have had my entire career. I felt like the tattoo gods had blessed me on my journey with that one, when it came to me. The Mickey B. Aaron had brought back from Italy for Mike and I. I still use it daily. The Juanito...yes, #8. First batch. I still use that machine, since the Avalon daze. Ill try to remember to take a photo of "my precious" I have at home. Cheers, M

Hello. That would mostly likely have been Miss Amanda. She's adorable. Has a wonderful collection of tattoos on her by SF artists. I had the challenge to rework and add upon her exisiting chest piece. For me, Its all about how the design flatters that area or not. Thanks for noticing. M

Hi Loch. All is good. The shop is doing well. We built it to last. Im proud to say, It didnt sink in the harbor upon launching. Weve made it out of the channels and into open water without any incident. The ship is sound. Shes weatherd a couple storms early on...and seems to have settled into being a place were we can enjoy making pretty pictures on people. Woot! Don't forget to interview some grrrl tattooers on here. Id like to suggest Darcy Nutt. I dont know her personally, but man can that lil girl do some good tattooing. She is universally skilled. Does not seem to regurgitate the same old imagery. Ive been keeping my eye on her work the past couple of years. Top Notch in my book. Come visit Portland sometime. I love it here. Hated it as a kid. Cheerios, M
