  1. When the shop allows (I ask ahead of time) I pay with plastic but always tip cash, which can be a wad in and of itself.
  2. A musical symbol that indicates a hold or pause is a fermata, which is a cool symbol. A friend of mine got one to commemorate a time in his life where he was extremely ill and unable to conduct his life for a time.
  3. The thing about the belly is you naturally tense your abs and the next day it's like you did sit-ups for hours. Ow.
  4. Wow, I spent the day googling and instagramming those guys and am gonna have to head over to Portsmouth and down to Concord to see the sights and check out some portfolios. Thanks a million you guys.
  5. I was assuming at least a year.....which is why I am deciding now for 2017. My back piece put me on a 2 year waiting list, which is about my limit
  6. thanks for all the suggestions! I have a lot of researching to do. Planning for maybe 2017 (getting my back finished next year so the arm is after my wallet recovers)
  7. Thanks! Wow, missed the move to NYC....definitely an option. I will definitely check out the others! Portsmouth is just a hop, skip, jump from me [emoji3]
  8. Looking for the right artist to do a nice koi half sleeve in color. Was thinking of going with Garver down in Miami but saving a bundle of money on hotels and flights seems mighty appealing these days. Anyone you would recommend within driving distance of NH?
  9. Day 5 with my stomach tat....sitting/bending/waistbands becoming reasonable again. Big peel yesterday and today. Smooth sailing from here I think. Skipping yoga for the week but getting back in the gym Friday.
  10. At my swim gym they all call me the turtle lady. I've decided to dig it.
  11. I would pay to see a penis that looked like that lighthouse
  12. The Boston Tattoo Convention is in less than a month. I suggest you go and scope out some artists.
  13. Going in for a medium sized stomach/side piece in 10 days. Gonna hurt.
  14. My tattoos are for me and I don't deliberately show them. I do swim at a club many times per week though and get a ton of comments. Whether I appreciate the attention depends on my mood.

    Book thread

Infinite Jest, and other DFW works, are among my very favorites. I have read that one multiple times. Good choice.
  16. The hope is to keep working machines out of the hands of scratchers, I realize, but collectors seem to me harmless.
  17. Its interesting how symmetry keeps coming up. I was always very superstitious about only getting ink on my left side. My back is the first foray toward the right.
  18. Yeah...lol I removed the profanity because there turns out to be something actually called that. Not for sale to the public though.
  19. +1 to all that. You might consider a "Build it your self kit" tattoo machine, if you are into the mechanics and want to feel connected to your shelf piece when you are done. Most reputable suppliers won't sell to the public, so let the buyer beware..... I trust you will never use it. As a mechanical design engineer by trade, I get the fascination with the devices.
  20. Actually, i got tattooed by that same artist at one point years later and brought it up. She admitted it was a snob move and apologized.
  21. This is sad. My first tattoo was an ankle band. There's a tattoo artist who is a friend of a friend who I ran onto at a party. I started talking tattoos because I wanted more serious work in the future but when she saw what I had she literally turned her back and walked away. Years later I have more ink than her. Don't judge. It does no one any good.
  22. I don't care what people think.
  23. I never judge based on 'trendiness'. if someone sat through a tattoo and are wearing it for life, that's badass no matter the design.
