  1. Spend time with your mates, make sure you go out plenty...to the pub/bar, don't stay in on your own thats the worst thing you can do. The best thing to do is have lots of casual sex with random women, thats the cure for heartbreak if you ask me. Best way to get over a women is get another one (sorry not being sexist here, same for women)

Or if you can afford it, come to Thailand and go crazy for a month ;) pm if thats an option hehe

  2. had my chest down about 20 years ago by a friend, i had at least 20 hours of tattooing before that so i thought it would be a breeze. My pal hadn't much experience and was really digging for gold with the needle. At one point he said I'm going to give my self a hernia. I was gritting my teeth so hard haha. The thing is when i went back a couple of weeks later to get it finished and knew what to expect it was fine, hurt but not that bad. All power of the mind!

  3. I think i said it before...in between the toes. I haven't been tattoo'd here my self but talking to lucky diamond rich who's had EVERY bit of his body done. He reckons thats the worse!

Next week I'm getting some sak yant on the bottom of my back and spine, which if the previous pain was any thing to go by I'm not looking forward to it. I've left the side of my ribs untouched for years out of fear and seeing people riggle around and tap out numerous times. In a couple of months going to get my head done which I'm sure will smart ;)

Just to add the arms, wrists, legs, neck, collarbone aint nothing...you can power of the mind your way thru that!!! The Collarbone aint nice but that for sure isn't the worst place!!

  4. Now that I better understand the question, I have given it some thought and came up with this, my answer:

I don't give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks of me. As long as I live my life in line with the morals I believe are fitting to me, I am good to go.

Will you be judged by the tattoos you choose? Absolutely, and by the very same people who would judge you by your clothes or hair or car or any number of things even if you didn't have tattoos.

In this Millenneal age of "Tolerance", I have come to realize that the tolerance only extends to those thoughts and actions Millenneals deem to be correct.

In other words "you shall tolerate that which is, by our standards, tolerable. Otherwise, you will be shunned." Which is as it always has been. You will outgrow it, sooner or later. But you may miss some pretty great times along the way.

If you are worried about what others think about a tattoo, then do not get the tattoo, because you will allow them to make your reaction.

But realize that you are not getting something you think is beautiful because you are worried that someone else - who has no stake in the matter - may disagree.

There are enough things happening in our lives over which we have no control. To give up that which I do control willingly because of peer pressure? Not gonna happen.

You don't by any chance have a beard a quiff and a full sleeve of bird silhouette's do you? (joking)

  5. I honestly don't give a shit about most people's opinions on my tattoo's. alltho I got my dot work sleeve off xed lehead a long time a go seems to be becoming more and more fashionable. I feel sorry more for xed really his style has been copied so much. half the time he doesn't even get credited with it, people that have worked along side him and been influenced by his stuff do (not naming names) I suppose it's like being in to a unknown band tho and when they get popular it upsets you that every one likes them now. The thing with a lot of current trends at the moment is in the future there going to look like shit, especially the water couler stuff!!!

  6. i would say the trendy side is the tattoo's people get, all the people getting the silhouettes of the birds and every one wanting mandallas, or getting thai unaloms and calling them spirals haha and getting them upside down. just like the tribal in the late 90's early 2000's or the celtic bands. Or my most hated tattoo of all ,the massive wall of text people seems to get with some bs quote or bible passage. People get the tattoo they deserve :D

  7. back_tatt_thumb.jpg ajarn_thoy_thumb.jpg

Got some more done a couple of says ago. The chicken looking things are actually swans, Buddha was a swan in a past life and had a firm of 90 thousand swan followers. Represents compassion and good energy. I just said to Ajarn Thoy to do what he wanted and to put what he thought i would need.

As to pain...it hurt real bad and i had an oxy as well and a bunch of valium and some tramadol haha i took it like a man ;) I didn't flinch or show any sign of pain over the 2 and half hours i think they see me as the guy who feels no pain but i was screaming inside in between mantras.

ps. i hate opiates and benzos...dont recommend any one to take them for tattoo's, after the tattoo you just end up feeling shitty and sick (at least i do) BUT they really help when some ones stick a rod of metal in your back :)

  8. Yeh mines a right old mush mash of styles and quality! I'm lucky in that apart from the word destroy on my arm both my sleeves are good. I was about to get destroy covered by the lovely Lucy Pryor at in2u in London about 15 years ago...when Alex binnie stepped in and wouldn't allow it saying you shouldn't cover tats and that there a history of your life. I have a lot of stupid tattoo's that I got for stupid reasons or to commemorate acts I commited but as the great man Alex binnie said there a map to the history of your life. Even tho I'm pretty sure Alex can't stand me haha... I used to be that kid who would come in the shop off my nut and talk non stop ;)

  9. I have a bunch of Sak yank tattoo's from various ajarns and monks, I wouldnt say it hurts less them a machine tattoo. I had to really try to reach my happy place on a couple of them. In the next couple of weeks probably going to get my back finished. About 30% coverage left. it is a risk tho, some of the monks never change there ink and mix it with all kinder crazy ingredients.

The Cambodian black magic yantra is where it starts getting real sketchy, they mix cremated baby's in with the ink or the cremated ashes of there master, snake venom all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff.

I recently got a small yantra on my Adam's apple, the ajarn just laughed and said "no swallow" and proceded to stick a huge needle in it. Never wanted to swallow more in my life :) check my pictures.

if you go to well known/famous ajarns (tattoo masters) in Thailand your normally fairly safe, random monks it's a dice roll if your going to get something nasty.

When my back is fully finished I'll post the pix. Shame recently a very famous ajarn said if I taught him machine he would teach me how to do sak yant but much like an a western apprenticeship it would take a very very long time to learn. The meditation side alone is very complex..shame I'm moving back to London in a couple of months.

  10. Yeh that's my friends shop od studio, by far the best in Bangkok! Some nice work comes out of that shop and they have a lot of guest artists from around the world.

Ichy...yeh I know that feeling :) I always slap them, harder to slap your back tho! If your still in the thong Lo area Friday im dj'ing on top of the Marriott hotel soi 57 (Sukhumvit) 11-2am pop up and say hello :)

Ps: I'm at the beach now (smug)

  11. i live in bangkok (have for over 4 years) my self at the moment and there's not that many good artists that i have seen. My friend owns a shop in thong lo thats very good and i would recommend! Most 'tattooists' here don't change there needles and use cheap ink. If your going to get any work here in the future i would recommend going to one of the famous ajarns. ajarn thoy (un nut 25) ajarn neng (bangcrak) and there's a few others. Who finished your back if you don't mind me asking?
