  1. I second the above suggestions.....If you're looking for traditional type stuff: Jr Tubbs in Ohio Alex Boyko in Detroit
  2. The same in my world... I'm getting while the getting's good.
  3. Bwhahahahaha..... I'm in the same situation. I just realized that since starting to get tattooed again (after not 17-18 years) I've: -gotten approval from my wife ( a big step to the next 3 things) -gotten 11 new tattoos -gotten tattooed every month since last October (some months twice) -gotten hopelessly addicted to being tattooed :):):):) All good things really but.... I ................... MUST..................... SLOW ................. DOWN ........!
  4. When is a "half sleeve" not a half sleeve? Pffffttttt... when it's a full sleeve. Quit being a sissy and get to work ;)
  5. I've had injuries/scrapes in the past and noticed the healing had an off smell, especially if there was any hint if infection. As gross as it sounds, the smell may just be our bodies "healing magic" intensified by being covered in an almost airtight covering. Although it's apples and oranges, I would compare it to wearing the same shoes/socks for 4 days straight without taking them off.... When I removed the -derm from my recent tattoo this morning (about 80 hours covered), it was pretty smelly. I use Dr. Bronners pure castille citrus soup for the first wash and post -derm washes, which has a pleasent lemony smell. I washed the area 3 times thoroughly and there was still a detectable odor. My wife even commented " what smells like lemon/stinky feet??". I really don't think it's the ink that is causing the funk but can't be too sure. I would be interested to hear others experience with "stank" and the -derm and whether it was better or worse depending on the area or type of tattoo (color vs. b&g etc.) At the end of the day, I'll take stank/-derm over the other healing methods as it works great for me.....
  6. Yep...my foot/ankle is stinking as I type this. In all the past times using the -derm I've detected a an "off" odor coming from it, especially the closer it is to my nose, but nothing like yesterday.... I got my latest work early Saturday, put on the -derm (after washing/drying etc.) about 12 hours later. I put it on waaayy past the edges of the tattoo because of the non-flat, bendy location (lower shin/ankle ditch/top of foot) to make sure it was going to stay on. There was some fluid build up but not any more or less than usual. Everything seemed/felt great when I went to work Monday morning and I wore flip flops to make sure I didn't aggravate anything. I had a long client meeting I had to sit through and make a couple quick presentations during the meeting. About 15 minutes before I had to stand and present, I started smelling something slightly foul, like dirty feet, sour milk, possibly a crust kids jacket???? I looked down and there was a small blackish milky puddle under my foot on the floor, the same foot that had been tattooed about 48 hours before. Yep, the build up decided to leak out on the very bottom edge under my ankle bone a close to my heel. I didn't notice until the smell hit my nose....... Luckily, I had a few napkins sitting under my coffee cup that I quickly threw on the floor over the puddle. I excused myself to use the bathroom and run to my office to grab some medical tape to secure the edge where the leak had occurred. No big deal as it was 2" away from the tattoo. I'm not sure any of the other 6 people that were sitting in the same room with me smelled what I did, at least none of my co-workers said anything.... Now I'm constantly checking the area to make sure it's not leaking (it's not) but I can't shake the thought of the tattoo and -derm smelling (it is). So as far as "stank".... yep, whatever healing juices your body produces aren't too far from other natural smells it makes, usually/mostly - not very pleasant!

  9. From Saturday... Bottom of shin/top of foot Jeff Zuck @ Name Brand Saturday night, went to see Motorhead for probably the last time. Fun and sad at the same time as Lem seems every bit of his hard lived 69 years of age. I've seen them almost 20 times and this was kind of a teary goodbye for me.......
  10. Yeah, don't have any travel plans until next year so I thought I would pay a visit to the (more than capable) locals/close by's that have been on my want list for a while. Jeff Zuck is doing a scorpion on the bottom of my shin/ankle ditch/top of foot this coming Saturday. Larson is doing some odd filler areas on my achilles/heel area and upper bicep and wanna plan out a bigger project with him in the future. Needless to say, I'm super stoked to get work by all of these guys....
  11. Keeping with my "get tattooed every month...duh" plan I set for myself: September - Jeff Zuck @ Name Brand October - Jon Larson @ Harlequin November - Greg Christian @ TattoFaction December - ????
  12. I've also infrequently had the red outline from the edge of the film. Too me, the film has reacted in that manner on spots that moved or rubbed more than flat areas. top of my inner arm/arm pit and arm ditch had somewhat of the rash effect after a few days with the -derm on. I was pretty active in warm weather for the 3-4 days the film was on my arm pit area. The rash was really only noticeable when the -derm was removed and went away in a couple of days. I also notice more of a reaction when I've used Tatu-derm from a 6" wide roll. I've also used Tegaderm and Saniderm brands without incident. @LizBee also has some great insight about removal.

  14. HAIL SATAN indeed....... This was from last Wednesday. Evil filler, shoe horned in by John Hill @ Name Brand. This is my 6th or 7th devil (but not the last).
  15. @Synesthesia @sophistre Dang.... those are both REALLY great!
  16. My standard response to the "what do they all mean" question is....... "it means I REALLY LIKE TATTOOS!
  17. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all of those are GREAT....I've been thinking about getting a bleeding ear ever since my wife told me "if I come see your band, my ears will bleed" ha ha ha
  18. UGGGGHHHH! it figures that the clown that bid/won these is now backing out of actually sending me money. He apparently lost his job whine whine whine.... I would like to sell these, preferably NOT on Ebay again.... If anyone here is interested, please message me. :)
  19. A few that recently caught my eye... Julian Bast https://instagram.com/julianbast/ Mikey Holmes https://instagram.com/mikeyholmestattooing/ Alex Boyko https://instagram.com/alexboykotattoo/?hl=en Similar styles, not sure how long these guys have been at it. My guess would be under 5 years....The Julian Bast stuff is pretty wild!
  20. This happened yesterday... It wasn't until this morning I figured out I didn't have photo before tegaderm got put on. Outline/black shading done in April and the rest finished yesterday. Artist: Tony Caporusso
  21. I bought the 6" wide roll. I figured I needed it for bigger work. See image below as howIi applied it... It never leaked, even sleeping directly on it as I'm a stomach sleeper. Like I said earlier, I kinda over-applied to make sure it was safely covered. I love this stuff and will be using it from now on....
  22. in GR check out SOVEREIGN ARMS TATTOO CO. Matt Pike and Ryan Stout. In AA, obviously Namebrand but also Lucky Monkey Tattoo - Tony Caporusso and Steve Flores ps: Welcome!! (better late than never)
  23. I've already gushed enough about the benefits of the -derm. I recently traveled and had my chest tattooed. 12 hours after the tattoo, removed the bandage, washed, air dried and applied the -derm. I was slightly concerned about putting on such a large amount across a huge area, as I'd never used that much before. I applied it excessively, meaning a lot farther from the edges of the tattoo, more than I'd done previously. My thought was- I tend to sweat on and around my chest and I didn't want to keep applying small patches on the edges to keep it on. 2 full days of walking around sightseeing etc in kinda warm, sunny weather (around 80 degrees) and the stuff worked perfectly. Drove home for 5 hours with a seat belt across my chest with little to no discomfort..... Depending on how big/packed with color the work you get is, there will always be some fluid build up under the -derm. I've mostly found this is just your bodies "healing juices" and is pretty normal. I've had some work not have any pooling fluid at all though. Here are a couple shots of my latest work after 4 days with the -derm on. I feel like my chest had slightly more fluid as some of it may have been sweat, but I'm not sure. Those images are about 6 hours before I removed the -derm. Once remove, both looked great and felt the same. On my chest, the skin high up on my shoulders (away from the tattoo) was kinda red and tender for 3-4 hours after, but no other problems. Both of the tattoos had a few smaller, thinner scabs, but nothing like if I didn't use the -derm. This stuff is game changing for me, as my skin certainly doesn't heal like It did 25 years ago. Every tattoo artist I've talked to, especially the "older" guys, say this stuff is great!
