Yeah Aloha and La Cobra Negra gallery...really excited. Rotor and Dimoni work at Barcelona Electric. My family and I got an apartment right across the street from Santa Caterina Mercado which is like 5 minute walking distance to both shops....... should be epic!

  2. I met with Chad last night and got tattooed. What a cool experience! It was his last tattoo for the day and Jeff Zuck pulled up a chair and bull shit with us for a while. Both of those guys are so humble and down to Earth. Had a great time and I am thrilled with the tattoo Chad gave me.

I also got tattooed by Chad on Friday 3/18 at Name Brand. I had met him a few times before and sitting with him for a couples hours shooting the shit was fun. He did lament a bunch about settling down. He had a lot of "I'm really burned out travelling" vibes going on in what he was saying. He said he missed having a house to come home to and thought that maybe his time had passed to open up his own shop now that he'll be almost 40 (practically a kid..ha!). We had a long conversation about pizza and he said he would love to open a pizza place....no frills, just "a great slice shop" as he put it. good times, and i wish him the best....

  4. It happens. No tattoo is perfect. It's a handmade craft. Gives it character, etc. Chances are it won't bother you so much as time goes by. But at least let it heal. Fixing it could make it worse. Up to you if you want to take that chance. But I'd do what your artist recommends if you trust him/her. The reason why "get more tattoos" is the best answer is because you'll drive yourself crazy nitpicking over every last detail so you may as well put that energy into planning the next one.

I love the fact that EVERY ONE of my tattoos have imperfections...I'd choose character over a body full of perfect "stickers" any day but that's just me...... :)

  5. if you worry about what people think of your tattoo's. you probably made the wrong decision to get tattooed.

I think it's safe to say EVERYONE has a different reason for getting tattooed and ALL are absolutely valid.

I've come from a different era of tattooing..... one where it was still pretty underground and unknown unless you were in the military or some type of deviant (prison/biker/punk/etc.). Unless you lived in a major population center on the east or west coast, most straight people didn't have a clue about tattoo culture other than the occasional Geraldo Rivera news report about gang violence or bikers. The general population treated tattoos with nervous stares or clutched their children/purses and mostly avoided you. It was rare to get ANY comments from people and if they did muster the courage, it was usually a derogatory remark like "were you in prison?"

I don't want to make this a "back in my day" rant but, things are certainly different these days, especially for women with tattoos. That is not to say that everything is A-OK and the general population doesn't still act foolish/rude.

I completely understood what @Pete tattoo freak said as I've lived 30 years being heavily tattooed and it has been somewhat of a mantra for me. Everyone who gets into tattoos has their own journey.....

Maybe a better, more forum friendly, way to say it would've been:

Do what you do - for YOU.... Don't worry about what ANYONE else thinks.

If your "thing" makes you happy/confident/proud etc, that's what matters the most. Remember-YOU are the only person that lives in your skin.

  6. i need to slow down lol

    but how...how:confused:

Bwhahahahaha..... I'm in the same situation.

I just realized that since starting to get tattooed again (after not 17-18 years) I've:

-gotten approval from my wife ( a big step to the next 3 things)

    -gotten 11 new tattoos

-gotten tattooed every month since last October (some months twice)

-gotten hopelessly addicted to being tattooed

:):):):) All good things really but....

    I ................... MUST..................... SLOW ................. DOWN ........!

  7. I've had injuries/scrapes in the past and noticed the healing had an off smell, especially if there was any hint if infection. As gross as it sounds, the smell may just be our bodies "healing magic" intensified by being covered in an almost airtight covering. Although it's apples and oranges, I would compare it to wearing the same shoes/socks for 4 days straight without taking them off....

When I removed the -derm from my recent tattoo this morning (about 80 hours covered), it was pretty smelly. I use Dr. Bronners pure castille citrus soup for the first wash and post -derm washes, which has a pleasent lemony smell. I washed the area 3 times thoroughly and there was still a detectable odor. My wife even commented " what smells like lemon/stinky feet??".

I really don't think it's the ink that is causing the funk but can't be too sure. I would be interested to hear others experience with "stank" and the -derm and whether it was better or worse depending on the area or type of tattoo (color vs. b&g etc.)

At the end of the day, I'll take stank/-derm over the other healing methods as it works great for me.....

  8. Anybody had this experience with stank?

Yep...my foot/ankle is stinking as I type this. In all the past times using the -derm I've detected a an "off" odor coming from it, especially the closer it is to my nose, but nothing like yesterday....

I got my latest work early Saturday, put on the -derm (after washing/drying etc.) about 12 hours later. I put it on waaayy past the edges of the tattoo because of the non-flat, bendy location (lower shin/ankle ditch/top of foot) to make sure it was going to stay on. There was some fluid build up but not any more or less than usual. Everything seemed/felt great when I went to work Monday morning and I wore flip flops to make sure I didn't aggravate anything. I had a long client meeting I had to sit through and make a couple quick presentations during the meeting.

About 15 minutes before I had to stand and present, I started smelling something slightly foul, like dirty feet, sour milk, possibly a crust kids jacket???? I looked down and there was a small blackish milky puddle under my foot on the floor, the same foot that had been tattooed about 48 hours before. Yep, the build up decided to leak out on the very bottom edge under my ankle bone a close to my heel. I didn't notice until the smell hit my nose.......

Luckily, I had a few napkins sitting under my coffee cup that I quickly threw on the floor over the puddle. I excused myself to use the bathroom and run to my office to grab some medical tape to secure the edge where the leak had occurred. No big deal as it was 2" away from the tattoo.

I'm not sure any of the other 6 people that were sitting in the same room with me smelled what I did, at least none of my co-workers said anything.... Now I'm constantly checking the area to make sure it's not leaking (it's not) but I can't shake the thought of the tattoo and -derm smelling (it is).

So as far as "stank".... yep, whatever healing juices your body produces aren't too far from other natural smells it makes, usually/mostly - not very pleasant!

  9. @UglyButProud nice lineup, excited to see what you get from those guys. Jon has been on my list for a while, maybe next time I get back to MI.

Yeah, don't have any travel plans until next year so I thought I would pay a visit to the (more than capable) locals/close by's that have been on my want list for a while.

Jeff Zuck is doing a scorpion on the bottom of my shin/ankle ditch/top of foot this coming Saturday. Larson is doing some odd filler areas on my achilles/heel area and upper bicep and wanna plan out a bigger project with him in the future.

Needless to say, I'm super stoked to get work by all of these guys....
