1. i'm on season six of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. we noticed that it had the rare Netflix 5 star rating, and honestly, i wonder if this show can really do any wrong. there are a few "meh" episodes, but nothing that still didn't have a good belly laugh gem hidden somewhere in the midst.
2. This is absolutely the truth (and standard practice). Ideas are there to collect and to preserve, and educate and represent communities in that process. Having worked at a museum for an extended period of time, I can say first hand that this is the case. I'm kind of surprised to see that not more is being said about this situation on here. On the one hand, Jennifer Stell is right, it isn't our business. On the other hand though, there's so much cultural and historical value to Henk's collection. I guess I just feel really bummed out about the whole thing (and apparently I don't have much else of value to really add to this conversation either I suppose).
3. ManWoman and Dennis "Stalking" Avner in the same 24 hour period. These were people who shaped my lives and taught me that you didn't have to be "normal" to live and enjoy life (and live it to the fullest). They were the people who got me thinking about what "normal" actually means, to question gender/gender roles, to questions stereotypes, and who taught me that beauty can appear in ways that to some may be strange, but to me, just made sense. These two people changed my life so profoundly. I thank you both for having lived and for helping others to question the world around them, and to broaden their understanding of it. Both did a great service to us all. - - - Updated - - - His facebook fan page has some more information: http://www.facebook.com/ManWomanMemories
4. Ok, so I don't talk about politics here, and I'm not about to start (nor do I want this thread to start any political debates), but this is just batshit crazy, regardless of who your candidate of choice is. From the one and only Gawker:
5. I have to admit that I've wanted my septum pierced for about 5 years now. I know it's trendy, but I like how it looks. I was thinking I might get it done by my birthday or with my first paycheck from my new job. It's hard to set that money aside though when there's sooo many good tattoos to get out there...
6. Well I think he's my age or younger and clearly those photographs were from an era before the 90s, so it was a rough guestimate ;)
7. gougetheeyes clearly i needed a new day job that was different from the all the legal drama that made me want to stab my eyes out on a daily basis. plus, i found it by searching craigslist for the word tattoo, honestly hoping to find an admin position that allowed them, and lo-and-behold, there was a position where they WANTED someone with tattoos. it was an honest to god relief. i finally can work somewhere, where i can be myself.
8. I just got a job with them so we'll see how it goes! I got a good impression from them and I'll be working in their SF headquarters.
9. @ Dan S you look like you could be Jack Passions father in those photos. . - - - Updated - - - AHHHHHH!!! THAT FILM!!!!! It's so gorgeous!!! The other day my chem teacher asked me if I was a "biker", because I have a black denim vest with a large back patch on it. I looked down at the ground and said solemnly "no." It's films and blogs like that that make me wish my answer was a "YES!", but then reality sets in about time and money, and all the other things that just drag you down once you step outside of daydream land. Reminds me of this little sleepy town called Port Costa in the bay area (just west of Martinez) but there's only one road in, and one road out, and the town only has maybe 300 people. They have this bar there with a giant taxidermied bear, which is odd that I'm interested in it because I don't drink and I'm vegan, but that's a separate tangent. Anyways, on any given Friday night, you can go there, and there's like 50 motorcycles parked outside (filling up most of the 1 block original "downtown" area, right by the railroad tracks, with the delta water on the other side). I always like to go to just be there, the silent voyeur, sitting back and taking it all in. It feels like that film and Dan S.'s photos. It feels like it's a place that's kind of stopped in time.
10. it's been around for a long time now. anyways, i was able to find out for myself yesterday.
11. i feel a little weird asking this, but has anyone ever worked for Sailor Jerry Clothing? opinions on tattoo clothing brands aside, i'm looking for personal experiences if anyone has them. i'm not going to say anything more because i don't want to jinx myself. thank you kindly in advance!
12. her work reminds me of this female European tattoo artist who drawings/paintings i see everywhere, but who's name i can't remember. i guess this was sort of a useless post : /

Art thread.

i've never wanted to be buried in a cemetary, BUT if i had to choose one to be buried in, THAT WOULD BE THE ONE!
15. it looks like she does tattoo (i didn't read all the posts in this thread, so sorry if i'm captain obvious right now.)
16. Jackson and I will be heading out to SF probably around 8/8:30. It's the soonest I can get out of class with my midterm on Thursday (the 20th, not tomorrow), and with a quiz that same night. Either way, we'll be fine. Shawn, what time on Saturday are you going to be around?
17. seriously?? GO OUT AND GET ONE AND STOP BEING A VOYEUR! (ok, i'm not really trying to be a dick, so don't take it too hard, but your life ain't getting any longer, so it's probably time you took the leap if you really want one. 52 and not tattooed... i can't even fathom.)
18. they are indeed. i'm going to be missing a lab on popcorn that i feel like i should be able to do at home, but the lab manual says to use all this fancy lab equipment. i kind of feel like i'm going to just want to eat it. in general, 8 would work better for me, as i might be able to go to part of class and join up with everyone at around 8:30, but obviously if 7 is better for everyone else, then that's fine.
