It is so sad to see someone continually shit all over themselves while blaming everyone else for their situation. Grow up, get over yourself and your angry attitude, and just maybe you will learn that you get what you give.

I guess my biggest one is just seeing some of the shit that pops up on my Facebook news feed from my friends getting tattooed. I have a friend who just got her first and was extremely proud of it. It's a tribal butterfly that isn't even symmetrical. Like, not even close. How do you even screw that up? Just draw half of it and then fold the paper over! It was a bad concept, badly drawn, and badly applied. It blows my mind to see otherwise intelligent people I know just losing their minds when it comes to tattoos. Tattoos don't HAVE to look bad, you know! And in this day and age, when you can look up thousands of tattooers on Facebook, Instagram, etc and get a feel for what can be accomplished. I just legitimately don't understand.

Ultimately people can do what they want and good for them for being proud of what they get. I just hope that they'll see the error of their ways soon for my own selfish reasons because I want good tattoos cluttering my news feed, not shitty ones. 

I have 2 tattoos and I would definitely not consider myself an expert! I know some stuff, more than the average person probably, but I still ask questions about tattoos from more experienced people.
One of my pet peeves is when people say I'm going to regret my tattoos. I've had my first one for almost 4 years and I love it just as much as I did when I got it, and my other one is about a year younger, and I love that one just as much as I did when I first got it...no regrets at all!

The worst spot I've hit so far has been behind the knee. And then when I saw the tattoo it wasn't nearly as far up there as I thought it was while it was happening. 
 

I recently got a large piece done on my thigh, and just when I think I've plundered the depths of misery, we find a new level of pain with every session. First, the butt/leg crease. Then the back of the thigh. Mostly recently during a shading session, he was really grinding into the side of my knee, and bending my leg at a weird angle. That was the first time I ever thought to myself "Holy shit, I don't think I can do this." But I did! I think I went into shock from that spot, I was shaking uncontrollably for a while after the tattoo was finished. That spot in and of itself wasn't SO bad, but as part of a lengthy shading session, and combined with long, grinding motions into my kneecap, AND my leg being bent the wrong way made it a memorable experience.

I hated getting my shin tattooed. Even two days later it still feels like you are getting tattooed..

So I think Kelly Edwards was having a little fun with me yesterday. He put the ink cap on the middle of my back... to use on the spot right below your tailbone, right between the top of where your cheeks start. Which so far has been like a rocket blasting off of pain compared to even the rest of my back.
"Now... as I tattoo you, remember, there is an ink cap on your back. A full one. Do...not...move... And I promise, doing this hurts me more than you..."

I've had a bunch of people want to touch mine, as well. But, the reason is that they don't believe it is real. Despite posting pics on my FB page during the process of having mine done, people still think it was an April fools joke and it was just temporary. They want to touch it to prove that it is real. Now that I'm healed, I honestly don't care so I'll happily pull up my sleeve and let them look/touch. I enjoy seeing he reaction on their faces when they realize it IS real.

I guess it is because tattoos are so much in the public consciousness, but I don't understand why people feel so comfortable coming up and touching my tattoos, and asking personal questions, completely out of nowhere. This is similar to when I have been pregnant and strangers feel quite comfortable coming up and putting their hand upon my belly. EXCUSE me? I have been stopped in public by strangers and asked to raise the sleeve of my shirt so a better view can be achieved. ????? 
How is this different than if you had a really nice piece of jewelry or outfit on, and I just walked up to you and touched the collar of your jacket or fingered your watch/necklace, asked you where you got it, how much it cost, etc.? How about if you had a nasty scar on your arm and I couldn't quite see the entire thing, and I asked you, a stranger, to raise your shirt sleeve a bit so I could see it all. It would not be acceptable behavior. 
I realize that people assume you have tattoos because you want them to be seen, maybe, and you want to share them with the world, but not necessarily!

How about all those people asking 'should I get this tattoo?'

Got my first just a little over a month ago - but at 61, retired Army officer and current college president I'm not in the usual group of folks most people think of getting a tattoo. Mine is not visible unless I'm wearing a sleeveless shirt. As people have learned about my first foray, they've been very positive. I get some of the "why would you do that?" One colleague asked if I was going to start drinking shots of whiskey again/ My response? I never stopped.

Here is a pet peeve: Just got my first visible tattoo. And I really hate all the comments that suggest it is my first one.
"Wow, going big for first tattoo!"
"Wow, when did you decide you wanted a tattoo?"
"Bold choice for your first tattoo!"

I love this. It's so true. Sometimes my mum has commented that if I'm worried about money (I do tend to worry a lot being self employed) maybe I shouldn't have got that last tattoo. I can't take it back to the shop though! I also had to explain to her that even though I was a bit strapped there was no way I could cancel my appointments with Sneaky Mitch or guen Douglas because I'd waited so long for them! (I'd saved enough anyway). Sometimes I do wonder how I afford it, but I guess you just do! I save every month, own my own house and always make sure my mortgage and bills are paid before I buy any luxuries. I do ok but am in no way 'rolling in it' yet I've been able to afford a lot of high quality tattooing. Go figure.

One thing I've been thinking about recently is how "having good taste" is so often bound to spending money (knowing how to decorate your house, what books to have on your shelf, what to wear) even if you don't have a lot of money. I don't want getting tattooed to be another exercise in buying stuff in an attempt to define myself--I mean, I used to buy a ton of music, and what I got out of it felt like it had nothing to do with the exchange of money. But, at the same time, I'm sure I would've been happy if my collection got approval from the "right" people. the artists on the show right now are pretty good - was excited last week when they finally had an american traditional challenge
unfortunately i think most people on shows like these are portrated unfavorably - who knows what we would look like on a reality show right

anyway - i watch basically because i'm sucker for tattoo type programs - but i would rather watch LST interviews all day long over anything spike has ever put out there

I watch it, too. I find it amusing. My tattoo artist watches, and we talk about it and mock it relentlessly. St. Marq is one of the biggest morons I've ever witnessed on this show. All of this tattoos look the same, which is truly shitty. Also think Cleen Rock One is a tool. The name alone says it all. And that idiot woman with the crazy eyes— Sarah, I think? — she's nuts. She acted like she was so different when she came back this time, but she was exactly the same — batshit crazy.
I have always liked Matti. Hope he continues doing well.

By the way, I have enjoyed my short time here so much and received such good info/advice that I made a donation to support the Forum the other day. Happy to be a part of the community!
