I already have a nickname that has followed me for years... Satan and yes...yes...people I work with have called me it.

The way I phrased it to a business associate recently. Don't "pick" on tattoos because they are so easy. It is like picking on smokers, we stand out and "are bad". Think about it like this. I group tattoos with religion, politics, pro-choice, etc. They are non-value adds to work, so just skip them. What can be gained at work by showing up with all your tattoos showing or similarly wearing your "Obama 2012" shirt, or similarly your choice of faith pendant prominently displayed. Nothing. Yes, you may find like minded individuals, but realistically it causes fractures in the workplace. I've seen the topics I've mentioned tear up relationships in the office and paint various persons with a "bad" image. People at work should keep their opinions to themselves and not bring in their views unless related to work. Example: I overheard a crazy conversation based in religious beliefs that mentioned that gay people aren't real people. Seriously this happened in corporate America right out in the open. I also happened to know a person, who I know is gay happened to be sitting very very much in earshot of this whole discussion. Let's just say it didn't end well for the parties involved. Example 2: I was in a social conversation at work with coworkers and some directors that somehow creeped into politics. I removed myself quickly from the conversation but let them continue until it broke down pretty bad. Even though it was on a hot topic for me (guns), I didn't see how that could help my job or career at all. Again from what I saw as an outcome the director had opposing views from the employees and they were on the "shit list" well into when I left the job. Tattoos are great, they are awesome, but as Brian said, "I dont want to be known as the tattooed guy from Finance", just the same as I don't want to be known as the "Gun nut from Pro Services" or the "Atheist from Sales". I don't go to work to "express myself", I go there to get a paycheck....and of course spend that paycheck on new tattoos!

Hahaha this was just forwarded to me by someone I work with. I asked if this was him asking if he wanted to get tattooed.

I may be the minority here but I didn't get tattooed with other people's thoughts in mind. Hell I kinda want to raise an eyebrow or two sometimes. If you are getting tattoos to fit some person idea of whatever it is, I just can't understand that concept personally.

It has been discussed in the past, but probably only part-time for the moment. We are slowly structuring our team.

Yea I love when I run across one of those. My friend got a really cool dragon by some guy that hell I couldn't even google a name for. Sometimes that feels a bit more awesome to me for whatever reason.

It is a Security Consulting Firm (Physical and Cyber). Crazy industry Yea still weird to be "that guy", but I guess it comes with the territory.

So I now own a company (yea!) and this topic creeps into my head every once in awhile, but now from a slightly different perspective. I'm moving toward the slightly heavier tattooed situation week by week and personally keep by my motto "when in doubt cover it up". Then again i generally am wearing a suit, so moot point as I don't have anything below the wrist or above the collar. I did just recently run into I guess an issue...I have an employee who is getting tattoos, which is all cool by me. Hell show em off when you get em and if you want to burn a PTO to get one, all cool by me. The problem is the same guy has mentioned he wants to get some more visible tattoos, and generally the themes are a bit, eh, black metal. It's a no-go by me just because customer relations standpoint but man is it hard to push that when your employees know I am covered in skulls, demons, snakes and daggers. On a more refreshing note, it was wicked awesome to walk into a clients office and see people with tattoos galore! I was like YES! Can't wait to be able to wear a polo again to work on casual events. The industry I moved to seems to have a much more relaxed set of people in it, as far as tattoos go. Even met a guy with his hands/neck done. Not the usual but nobody seemed to care all too much.

I can say this from me personally. I really don't mind answer the same questions we all had in the beginning of getting tattooed. We've all been there. Yes there is repeat questions, because honestly most people share similar fears or doubts. I know sometimes I (or us as a whole) come off a bit rough when we say "go ask the artist(s)" but realistically I feel that, us "internet strangers" would not be giving the most accurate advice. There is only some much information we know or can share without just basing guesses on personal experiences, which really would be just throwing out opinions. Things like "how long will it take", "How much time was that", "Can this image/idea be done", really are best left up to the actual artist doing the tattoo. I know personally I cannot give a quote for price/time, or tell you what can be done. This I feel applies as well to just about all other LST members (unless they happen to the be artist you are getting tattooed by!). I'd say my biggest "rules" I like to enforce on LST as a moderator are as follows: 1. Be nice! 2. Do not ever talk money! Treat this place as if it was a gathering of friends. Friends don't talk disrespectfully to each other, and I have yet to really start talking money with my friends, outside of the casual "if I won the lottery" conversation.

Yea I got two traditional tattoos from him as well as my japanese leg sleeve thing (gypsy lady, skull snake skull, and raijin dragon). Stupid good at everything he does. He is my go to guy pretty much always. Also please everyone stop "quoting" internet prices. First it is not what we talk about on LST, also they are not a determination of tattoo skill (either are they ever accurate). I like to judge a tattoo on the tattoo not on the price.

Yes! My friend and I wanted to get a tattoo to end our 3400+ mile journey across the massive usa. I was thinking of hitting up Dark Horse. Also seriously looking up jobs in the southern California area....for real I love it here

Ahh I talked my friend into getting something from Ben but we ran out of time to get something here. Onto L.A. I wish I could have stopped at back heart on the trip but we are quickly running out of time

Damn, now I have to actually finishing getting into shape so I can get one of these bad ass tattoos! Also to OP, I would say any tattoo with power. What came to mind was maybe a boxer tattoo?

And...lost my appetite for this delicious lox and garlic bagel.

Been pretty busy recently. Driving cross country to California with my friend since he is moving there. Gunna hit Vegas for sure. Taking the jeep out for a few days in the pine barrens for camping and off-roading. Possibly picking up a 1969 CJ5 and breaking out the new millermatic to weld up some fun stuff.
