thanks for posting this! i get so sick of people posting and re-posting all these internet conspiracy theories and everyone seeing them as fact.

there's a certain uk tattoo blog that is part of the problem. they have posted info about peoples' visits to the uk and where they are working, potentially creating a bad situation for the tattooers they mentioned. myself and a few others have boycotted this blog based on this and the fact that the kid just takes pics off peoples' facebooks and posts on his blog...

mail your equipment and delete all online reference to your visit.

scott...thanks man! it was fun. and relatively easy! the music is charles mingus. i listen to him almost every morning.
-
scott...you say the best things in the best way! haha

i work in a street shop. our customers hardly ever ask to see portfolios, partly because we have a long and good reputation. but my book is all my custom stuff in my style. and it's more for my clients and/or people who might search me out or might be attracted to my style. if a "regular" walk-in customer asks to see it, i hand it to them and say something like "there's no lettering (or celtcic, tribal, whatever) in here, but look for clean lines and solid, bright color". then they kind of get it. i started out in a smaller city, and had to do all my "cool" tattoos on friends or friends of friends for cheap, so i can sympathize. that's why i left.

thanks! i shot it all on my iphone4, and started to edit it on my phone in imovie, but ended up making it on my macbook in imovie. glad it worked to lure people in...haha....
-
scott, that rules.

oops! i think i fixed the privacy issue, sorry. the skinny oldtimer with the creepy mustache is tats thomas, the guy who looks like a bulldog is ralph johnstone. the guy in the last photo standing next to tats is iwojima eddie.

put this together on my iphone...

i think tux is slept on a bit. honestly, i don't know much about him other than basic information and i only heard of him because higgs mentioned learning from him in an interview. i'd like to know more about the guy...maybe seth c has some info, being from that area...???

if they insist on getting it the exact way they drew it, i'll just do it for them, unless it won't work well as a tattoo (technically) or if it's a traditional design. since that's a style i feel well versed in and am known for, i'd insist on redrawing it, or i wouldn't tattoo it.

seth...the dude.

i wanted to work it, but it's very last minute...couldn't get a booth. i worked it years a go and it was a good show. don't know much about it now though.
-
man...that blows! we keep our portfolios behind the counter and only hand them over to people who ask (most don't).
-
by the way...i in no way was trying to put anyone down or imply that they don't do an amazing job because they were appropriating anything!!! ladyheads are hard to do and i still work hard everytime to get it right!
-
man...i'll say it again. 99% of the people tattooing right now SUCK.

i think it's weird for tattoo shops to play movies. no one talks because they are all watching the movie and the artists seem distracted.

julio is 100% right. as usual.

i met my girlfriend/future wife in brooklyn 2007. i was doing a guest spot at saved tattoo, she was my final appointment on my last day there...we immediately knew we'd be together. after visiting her every month for 9 months, she moved here form new jersey in 2008. i owe EVERYTHING in my life to tattooing.
